CHAPTER 5

I had just witnessed a man kill a woman right before me. A gruesome, heartless murder. As the FBI forensic agents wheeled her body away from the hotel building, I stare blankly at the white sheets that covered her frame. Under those sheets was an innocent woman. It had taken less than a minute, less than a minute to end her existence. Did she feel the same eerie feeling that I got when he had pinned her to the walls and picked the glass of water? Did she at least see the naked electrical wires popping from the socket that I had missed until the minute he bathed her with the glass of water, causing the shock from the wire to cradle her beautifully crafted stature, never sparing her a second to speak or beg for help until it had taken her soul with it?

Did she get the chance to wish she had never come today or even met a man like Ryan?

My empty eyes caught the sight of Ryan with a few of the FBI agents looking like he was giving his own account of the ordeal. He looked disheveled and in shock than anyone else was.

Not only was Ryan Brooks a good cheat but a perfect liar and murderer.

The sudden urge of bypassing the security zone and walking up to the team to expose the truth about Ryan came to me but my cold feet hold me to my spot. He knew about me and he was coming for me. He had seen the camera in his suit when he was done with his deeds and the echo of his words would be the biggest nightmare of my life.

'Whoever you are, I will find you. And I will end you."

Seeing a woman he loved die in his hands—right before my eyes was enough to tell me he was not kidding around. He was going to find out about me and get rid of me. I had witnessed the murder first hand and obviously in possession of something that would ruin his life completely.

What if I walked over to the FBI right at this moment and showed them the recording on my phone? Would that be enough to stop him before he comes for me? Obviously.

I took in a deep breath and exhaled before moving towards the no-entry zone but a deep masculine voice stopped me as soon as I moved a few feet.

'Hey, hey. What do you think you're doing?"

I turned back immediately, my heart almost jumping off my chest. Curious hazel grey eyes greeted me and as I took in his tall large frame and the way his suit fitted him perfectly, I recalled the photo of the CEO I had seen in the magazine from earlier today.

It was him, the model on the cover of Xavier Hotel magazine.

And man, did those photos do him no justice!

He was gorgeously fantastic and one look at his large hands, I imagined how it would feel cupping my breast lusciously.

I cussed myself inwardly. Why would my stupid self think of that now? A woman just died for bloody sake!

'You know you're not supposed to just walk into a crime scene, right?"

I immediately teleported back to reality and nodded at him.

'Yeah." I cleared my throat. 'I'm sorry about that."

'Great." He turned his attention away from me and to his phone. But I didn't move just yet. I thought about telling him about the video.

He lifted his eyes to see me still rooted to the same spot, watching him with a hawk eye. He frowned lightly.

'Yea?"

I cleared my throat again and searched inside me for any ounce of badass confidence left and cussed at myself inwardly when I felt no spark of any.

'The murder at the hotel…"

'It wasn't a murder, Sherlock Holmes."

I ignored the name he had addressed me by. Sarcastic prick.

'It wasn't a murder?"

He sighed in surrender and returned his phone back to his pocket to give me his attention but I could see it was false and faked and if anything, slightly irritated with me.

'Of course, it wasn't a murder. Pretty lady got off the bathroom and pinned her frame to the walls which had an exposed cable that ended up electrocuting her."

I felt a kind of numb wash through me and turned me speechless. Was this the story Ryan had told? Did he recreate the scene to look like what he had just told everyone?

'Look, I gotta go. You should too. It's not a good thing to remain in a place where someone had just died. Not only is it not natural, you could mess up something." He said and began to walk past me.

'What if I could prove to the world that it wasn't just a murder?" I heard his feet shuffle to a stop and I turned around to meet his eyes gawking in confusion at me.

'What if I could prove to everyone here that she didn't die from an accidental electrocution but a deliberate one?"

He held my gaze for a minute, probably trying to understand my concept and silly theories and after what seemed like ages, he exhaled a long breath.

'Let's talk in my car."
