Chapter 6 bragger!

If Monica did get into Oxford, wouldn't she be a sophomore with her? If they were in the same class ... Anne felt very uncomfortable when she thought about this.

"Don't worry, I won't bother Mom and Dad. I can get into Oxford on my own," Monica responded indifferently.

"What?" Anne was stunned, "How will you get into Oxford on your own?"

She used to study in a high school in a small town, yet she said she could get into Oxford by herself!

Wasn't that bragging?

"It's none of your business." It was too tiring to get along with someone like Anne, Monica's smile faded, and she went straight upstairs after she finished speaking.

Anne looked at her back and thought reluctantly: I'd like to see how you, a stupid bumpkin, can get into Oxford on your own merit!

The next day was a weekend, and Monica woke up early to go for a morning run.

This is a habit she has kept for many years. After the morning run, she found another place where no one was around and started practicing her flight skills. Practice makes perfect.

It was almost seven o'clock when she returned. Upon entering, Monica saw Nancy and Jeffrey already waiting for her, Anne was also standing by.

"Monica, where have you been? Mom and Dad were very worried when they found out you weren't there this morning." Anne said reproachfully as soon as she saw Monica coming over.

Monica frowned in disbelief and asked, "I went for my morning run. Is there any urgency?"

Nancy breathed a sigh of relief, "I see, exercise in the morning is indeed a good habit."

However, Anne would not let Monica off easily. She said, " I always tell Mom and Dad where I will go in advance because I don't want to let them worry. You should also be more considerate of their feelings in the future, do you know?"

Anne went back to the previous topic.

"You didn't get up when I left for the morning exercise, so I told butler about this." Monica looked at Anne casually and calmly; she wanted to see what other reason Anne could use to accuse her.

'But ... "

Anne wanted to say something else but was interrupted by Jeffrey: "It's not a big deal and there's no need to blame Monica excessively. let's sit down and enjoy breakfast."

Hearing Jeffery's words, Anne's face changed dramatically. She used to make jokes about her brothers like this, saying that they were problems for their parents. But Dad had never accused her because of that.

Sure enough, once Monica came back, everything changed. Anne immediately said injured, "Does Dad think I'm meddling? But I have always done like this before, please, did I do something wrong?"

Anne was delicate and touching; she looked so heartbreaking with her eyes full of tears. Seeing this, Jeffrey couldn't help but wonder if he was gone too far.

But Monica had lost patience with Anne's performance. She said, "You did the right thing, but I'm not your clone."

Monica's words reminded Jeffrey and Nancy - they had to accept that Monica and Anne were different.

"Monica is right, mommy won't treat you like a clone of anyone. You just have to be yourself." Nancy stroked Monica's hair tenderly. She only wanted her daughter to be happy, which was more important than anything else.

But in Anne's eyes, Nancy's behavior became a different meaning.

She used to try to do her best in everything and always looked for ways to please Nancy and Jeffrey because she was afraid that such a good life was just a dream. When she woke up, she would have to go back to the bad old days.

Now, her fears came true. Their own daughter was back, and Monica could be forgiven no matter what she did. Then what about her? Were her previous efforts all in vain?

Anne was sad and didn't want to pretend to be a good sister anymore. She turned around and said, "Mom and Dad, sorry I'm tired. I want to go to my room. Please enjoy your meal."

'Anne ... " Nancy wanted to catch up with Anne in harry, but she was stopped by Jeffery, who reminded her to be more considerate of Monica's emotions.

Afraid that Monica would feel left out, Nancy didn't leave. She looked at Monica and said, "Look at you! Your clothes are sweaty. Change your clothes and go downstairs to eat breakfast."

"Okay." Monica didn't want her parents to be embarrassed, so she turned around and went upstairs.

The two daughters had left, then Jeffrey said to Nancy, "Now do you know why Dad asked you to send Anne away early?"

People can't be perfect. in the face of their own daughter who had not been around for many years and the spoiled adopted daughter who was raised as a child, parents are inevitably biased. There is no way to keep the scales in their hearts balanced.

Henry was doing this for Anne's good. If she continues to stay at home, she will feel unhappy, but Henry also did not want Moores and Anne's relationship of so many years to end up in a relationship breakdown.

"Yeah ... " Nancy's eyes were full of disappointment.

The longer Anne stayed, the more upset she would be.

After lunch, Nancy asked Monica to go to the mall with her. Because Monica's necessities were too few, Nancy was afraid that she wouldn't want to bother them and would wrong herself.

Anne went with them too.

Once got to the shopping mall, Anne chose her clothes and bags happily, just like she had forgotten the unpleasantness of the morning completely.

"Mom, does this dress look good on me?"

"Very nice! Monica, just go and choose what you want." Because of what happened in the morning, Nancy was afraid of ignoring both Anne and Monica. She strove to treat everybody the same way and not let any of them be unhappy.

Monica realized that Nancy was having a hard time, so she asked her to go with Anne, and then chose clothes alone. Monica always likes simple things, but the style of the brand Anne chose is delicate and ornate, so Monica didn't shop long before she said, "Mom, I want to go somewhere else to buy clothes."
