Alpha's past
Silas - POV
(Jake -Alpha Silas meeting)
Jake walked into my office. His deep-set brown eyes stared as he sat opposite me with an arrogant attitude on his exterior. His aura felt ominous. Honestly, I can’t be sure if he’s human or if he is something else, as his attitude confused me.
“Mr. Ford, I am here to discuss a deal.” He said as he ran his hand through his brown hair.
“What that might be” Jake tried to study me, but he couldn’t, a little annoyed expression flickering under his arrogant exterior.
“I understand you are sponsoring Elena. But I am here to save your day. Why don’t you invest in my project and the profits will be guaranteed? Unlike risking your investment in someone sure to go downhill”, he said with confidence and a smirk. For a second, the wave of energy brushed my skin as if trying to convince me what this asshole remarked. Strange, there is something else behind this Jake’s background, and I need to get Mac and Yuri to get my information on this fucker, Jake.
“Mr. Smith, I am pleased to be offered such a great deal. But I love taking risks in life to get bigger benefits.” I said calmly, though I wanted to beat the shit out of him, and my wolf was eager to do so.
“You are making the biggest mistake. Mr.Ford, I was here to save you from it. As your well-wisher”, he said calmly, though it was easy for me to read him. He looked confused and irritated at me.
“I didn’t ask you to be my well-wisher, Mr. Smith. I know what I am doing. You may leave”. He couldn’t utter anything more than he walked out with a fuming expression that he couldn’t hide from me at the end. Seriously, such a waste of time talking to a trash man like him. I called Yuri to ask about the Pack report.
“Alpha, how did it go? Tell me, are you going to Mate Elena? Will she be our Luna? I am so excited.” Yuri spoke enthusiastically. Already Jake’s trash had given me a headache, and Yuri’s energetic voice heightened the headache.
“Yuri, I called you for the Pack report.” I rubbed the bridge of my nose.
“Oh,” she sighed out loud. “No rogue attacks, no more problems to solve. The elders of the pack insist you speak with them about Elena.”
“What about Elena? Mac said that the elders asked her to bring Elena to pack some so they can check if she is a late shifter taking her to the moonflower chapel,” I said, clarifying.
“No, that’s not it, Alpha,” I heard guilt in her voice.
“Spill,” I growled at her.
“Well, the elders of the pack know Elena is your second mate, and they want to meet her and force you to accept her as Luna to give her an heir even though she is human,” Yuri confessed, speaking with haste.
“How on earth did they discover it?”
“It’s my fault, Alpha," Yuri said; Yuri's mom excitedly spilled the beans when he spoke to her. I sighed in frustration. Great, I must put up with the pack's elders pestering me. I had warned them not to have this topic until I got the second mate. The elders will now get back at me for mating.
“Thank you for the screw-up, Yuri.” I hissed.
“Sorry, Alpha,” she whispered before I disconnected the call. The image on my desk of Maya and me staring at me. I took the frame in my hand, remembering the moment of happiness and love I had three years ago. My childhood to my teenager was misery. From a Rogue Alpha to being the Alpha of the pack was difficult as I had to fight to get to that place. I didn’t know about my parents, as they left me in the middle of the forest and survived through my instincts from a young age to not get killed by the Rogues. Some rogues helped me by giving me dirty work to earn and eat.
In the silver canines’ pack, Alpha had no heirs, so the elders gave every Alpha bloodline. Whether Rogue Alpha or the Pure line, Alpha can battle to get the throne. I fought to get the power with my teeth and nails and got my hands on it. The Sliver canines pack was not enthusiastic about my win over the throne, and they couldn’t accept me as Their Alpha because of my rogue status. I knew this would be the problem, but they gradually accepted me as time passed when Maya was the pure Alpha, and my mate changed the perspective of the pack members who still held the same thought of me. She showed them what I was doing as Alpha and how the pack prospered more than before.
But the happiness didn’t stay long when I found Maya’s lifeless body on the border of the pack territory. I killed every suspected enemy after Maya’s death, but I couldn’t find the truth about what happened.
No one knew what happened to their Luna when I was away from a conference meeting in the Human Realm. The pack supported me in my grief. I didn’t want the pack or elders to know of Elena, as I was wary of someone from the pack who could have a hand to take Maya away from me.? What if my assumption is valid? Elena could be at risk. Also, the dark figure that emerged from the pack tried to touch Elena. Could it also have something to do with Maya’s death?
This mystery of dark figures is something I have to find solely and not let others get wind of it. I want to make things right this time and protect Elena from everything. It will uplift me from the burden and remorse of not being able to protect my first mate.
