Soaking Wet
The other day was so hard to analyze. The fact that I woke up at someone’s bed and my clothes were different were no longer normal. I couldn't even remember anything. The last thing I remember was my collision with that man’s chest and then it was gone. I forced myself several times to remember everything that happened that night, but it didn’t really form in my mind. Everything was blurry. Like how fuzzy that man was because I woke up in his room without him.
He didn't even show up even though I waited a long time. I became more and more suspicious that something might have happened that night, especially since I was wearing different clothes. At the same time as I was thinking about what happened then, I was also thinking about how I could go back to the hotel even though I had not yet memorized this place.
My god, Rae! Who is a fool to go with a stranger?
Fortunately and when I came out, I saw a girl standing beside the big painting near the door. It has not yet hung anywhere it will be placed. The painting was beautiful, that’s what I remember that day. That's a painting of a woman. I just don't know who.
After she said that she was waiting for me 'til I woke up I was even more embarrassed when I found out her older brother was that man. She even warned me about her brother that until now I didn’t understand why.
"You should be careful. He isn't the type of a man you're willing to be with. Especially, you look kind and innocent.”
That’s what I remember it saying before I finally left that house. Maybe because she thought, I’m her brother’s girlfriend or what. Maybe, a victim? Why? What kind of person is his older brother?
Why should I care? I didn't even know that man. I encountered him few times and yet, I didn’t know his name. All I know was his face.
I went straight to our room to change my clothes. Even against my will, I was forced to wear a swim suit because I had no other clothes but the ones Yerim bought for me. I chose the black one piece then I covered it with shorts. When I finished I went out right away.
Pretty shady so no problem in the sun. It's summer now but it's like a rainy day because it's been misting a few times since yesterday. The sun's rays did not even touch my skin except on our first day here.
I saw a rock formation in the distance so I decided to go there. I suddenly remembered something, but it remained fragmented and vague. Did something happen to me here?
I sat down first, looking around me. People can only be counted now because others are still in the hotel. When I looked at the sea, something hit my eyes. I looked closely at who it was and my eyes widened when I saw his familiar face, walking towards me. He was carrying towels and was still wayfarers.
What a handsome creature is this. I still can't believe how he looks at me. Only now have I examined him properly. His body built, his wide chest is killing me! What kind of person is this.
When he got close to me I quickly averted my eyes from him. I felt him sitting next to me then put the towel he was carrying on my shoulder.
“What’s up? The last time I saw you, you were trying to kiss me. Now you are here almost naked,” he told me seriously.
My eyes widened when I heard that. Me? Trying to kiss him?!
"What?" I asked him. I felt my chest throb.
“Just kidding. How was your stay here? Are you enjoying yourself? ” it changed the subject then went down to the sea and looked at me. He still doesn't take off his wayfearers. "Let's go?" it added so I was even more confused.
"What are you doing?" full of astonishment I asked him.
He suddenly chuckled. He removed that sun glass and handed it to me. "Please," he said sparingly.
I kept looking at him. Only now did I notice his blue eyes. His eyes are half moon shaped with an ocean color. Brown hair, thick and pitch black eyebrows, sharp nose and reddish lips. I wonder how he got so lucky to be so handsome like this. Anyway, when I saw his sister that day their genes were undeniably good.
"Who are you?" I asked him directly. "What are you doing?" I added.
His expression became even more serious. He approached me and laid his sun glass beside me. Some time later, I heard the water crash when he suddenly pulled me towards him at the bottom. I got up quickly but he remained holding my hands.
“You said we can stay like this so we don’t have to judge each other,” I heard him said.
I looked at him. I slowly swam away from him as I noticed that he was also slowly approaching me.
"I didn't say anything like that."
“You told me everything you wanted to say, don't you remember? You were so drunk that night. I was about to tell you my name but you refused, you said it's better that we don't know each other's names,” he told me directly.
I bit my lower lip. I can't believe I said those. Did I really say that? Oh god, what else did I tell him that night?!
I blinked twice. Trying to remember what happened that night but I don't really remember anything.
“Did uh... did I say something weird? What else did I say?”
"Why should I tell you everything?"
"Why not? 'Didn't— ”
“Oh my god! What are you two doing? ” I heard someone said.
I quickly looked around and my eyes widened when I saw Yerim staring at the two of us. I quickly lost his grip on me and then came out of the water.
“Is he the guy you are talking about?” I even heard her ask so I hastened to put on my shorts.
“Yerim... what... no. Where is Rafa? No! I don't know him— ”
"We met at the coffee shop in Manila," I heard him say so I was stunned.
My forehead furrowed. Coffee shop in Manila? Does that mean he knows I'm the woman in the coffee shop? Wow.
"You're her friend, I guess," he greeted Yerim then held out his hand to my friend. "Nice to meet you."
“It’s finally nice meeting you, too. I heard so much about you,” Yerim crazily said then she smirked at me.
I don’t know how many times I’ve sighed here in the mini cottage while facing these four. After that meeting with the rock formation, Yerim was still not satisfied and invited him to the cottage for us to have some drinks. I was also surprised when I caught up with Sebastian who was with Rafa at the cottage. I think the fool followed.
"So, you're also on vacation here?" introduction by Yerim.
I just silently stared at the bottle of beer in front of me while secretly hugging his towel because I was so cold. Adding to my chill was the nervousness of what they might ask him.
“No, I actually live here. This property is ours, honestly.”
I raised an eyebrow when I heard that. I also heard Rafa and Yerim laughing so I looked at them and I was right, they were amazing.
“Oh, they weren't mentioned that to us. It turns out that Ms. Lim was referring to your family who owns this property,” Rafa said to him in a professional way.
I simply looked at him. Its face is serious, but the joy can be seen in its eyes. As if he's enjoying our company. That's good.
“This place is nice. This is the place our friend loves so much,” Sebastian said to me and put his arm around me. "Right?" he added.
"Shut up, Seb."
“C’mon! Why are you so timid? You are not like that when you face us. Speak up!” Yerim hissed so I sank even deeper into my seat.
Oh god, help me. This is so embarrassing. Did they know that until now we haven't formally met each other?!
“I will get dressed first. I'll be right back,” I sparingly told them then I looked at him.
I saw him nod and his gaze hovering over my body as if signaling me to cover it. I just shrugged and left them there.
I just took a shower and got dressed. I decided to wear a big hoodie and short shorts then quickly went back to the cottage, but I was just disappointed when I found out they were no longer there.
I checked my cellphone to see if there's a message from them but there isn't one so I decided to just walk around again until I landed in the back of the hotel. Only now did I notice that there was still land attached to it but it could only be seen that it was full of trees.
I decided to continue walking. I saw as much as there was a make-road going into those trees so I knew there was a path to it. It didn't look dangerous so I continued.
After a long walk, I was exposed to the vast land full of plants. It is a short distance from the island itself. The cold wind greeted me so I looked up to heaven, there I noticed that it was getting darker so I was pissed.
I think it's going to rain. I even walked while observing those different plants. There are also a few animals at the far end. When I got to my prediction it was a stable, then heavy rain fell so I ran out. I was going to go to that cage, but I didn't go because I was afraid of animals. I'm not an animal lover because they don't love me either.
I kept looking for shelter until I found a hut so I quickly went there.
I hugged myself because of the extreme cold. The rain was heavy. I checked my phone again to see if there's a message on it but there's no one. I was about to compose a message to Rafa and Yerim, saying that I lost inside the island, but that could no longer be sent because there was no signal.
I’m already crying because of the mixed feeling I’m feeling. Tired, irritation to myself because I was so curious about things and it was even accompanied by heavy rain. This vacation is so messed up!
I just sat on the porch of this hut. I couldn't get in because the door was closed and another thing, I didn't know who lived here. I'll just wait for the rain to subside.
Some time later, I looked up when I heard a car stop. When I looked at it, my forehead furrowed as I waited to see who would come down from there. I was dumbfounded when I saw him, he took a moment inside the car then he ran towards me while there was a sack on his shoulder.
When he lowered that heel he was also surprised to see me. “What the hell? How did you get here? Why are you so wet?” he asked me one question after another so I scratched my head.
"What... I'm just walking around—"
“You’ll catch a cold. Let's get inside,” he interrupted me and then pulled me inside the hut.
He released me when we entered and then went straight into a room. I was just amazed when I saw how clean the inside of the house was. Is it his, too? How rich is he?
“Change your clothes first. There is a bathroom in that room,” he said and pointed to the room where he came out.
He handed me a men's t-shirt and men's shorts as well. I supposed it's his clothes so I shouldn't look at him.
"I'm fine, I'll just wait for the rain to subside."
His forehead frowned and he slightly rubbed his eyes then turned to look at me again. I sighed when I saw his eyes widen, as if he was drowsy. I suddenly remembered that they had been drinking before.
“Just change it. You are soaking wet. After you change your clothes I will take you to the hotel,” he lazily told me then turned his back on me.
I did nothing when he left me there again. I just entered the room he said then went straight to CR. When I finished getting dressed, I put my hoodie and shorts on in the bathroom to dry a little. When I came out I only noticed that there was very little equipment in that room. Clean bed, a suitcase under it, men's belongings on the side table and scattered shoes — the ones he was wearing earlier when we entered.
