chapter 1

Helio (Present Days)

The past is nothing but a cruel lady, full of grudges with no sense of humor.

After Persephone's death I fled Thessaly, the circumstances of Hades' death raised no suspicions about me, but I needed to get out of there, life without Persephone was unbearable, I seemed to lack air 24 hours a day.

I wandered aimlessly around the world, but nothing filled the void that the woman I had never touched had left behind.

Europe, Asia, Africa, Oceania

I paid for them by not feeling the pressure of time on my back, I didn't age, much less die when danger struck my back, I was the millennial wolf.

I became rich, powerful, as Hades would never be. I went all over Europe establishing my empires, building castles, destroying entire civilizations in the name of a God I never believed in.

I was king, emperor, various versions of me are in the history books. Immortality gave me everything I ever wanted except Persephone

By popular pressure to marry, I needed to put a son in the world

Clara, my wife, handpicked by my advisors, died in childbirth along with the child

And so began what today I consider the price I have to pay.

Women fell in love with me, became pregnant and took my children with them in childbirth

This is the price I pay for so much power, my seed kills anyone I might come to love one day.

When the expeditions to the Americas began I was a great investor, that's how I arrived in Brazil

A place far from the world I knew a whole new world where I set up my empire and my own pack. But specifically in Rio de Janeiro.

Hades

Ever since I can remember it seems that I lack something, I was born with a defect, as if half of my soul was not inside of me and the other half was angry about it.

I dream about her, about half of my soul every night, her long reddish brown hair, her big curves, her beautiful smile, her brown eyes, and the moon, she danced to the moon when she was happy. My Agape mou

I love a woman that I have never touched, but who lives in my heart in a latent way, sometimes I hear her voice calling me in the silence.

I would never marry another, even if promised to a woman of our kind, Iris since I was born 300 years ago, but I have always seen her as a younger sister, a small fragile being that I have always protected.

I am the eldest son of the Lycan family, we are direct descendants of Lycaon the first werewolf, our pack resides in Thessaly, Greece, a mountainous region full of enchantments and traditions of the ancient faith.

My ancestors received their brides as offerings, but with time, this custom has been left behind.

For more than 100 years now not a child has been born among us, that's right, not a lupine cub has been born in any pack anywhere in the world.

Our people have been gradually diminishing; we are not immortal, but we can live for a thousand years. Our women only give birth to a single offspring, my mother was human, a daughter of the moon, daughters of the moon are women disciples of Selene, the goddess. Our offspring are bigger and more voracious than any other child, the pregnancies are high risk.

But not for them, the wombs of the moon's daughters are fit to receive our seed, but they were extinguished, they were burned as witches other
