Chapter 5

Athena's Point of View

When I opened my eyes, the environment had changed. My head was still buzzing, and my back ached with pain. It appears like I have been sleeping on the comfy bed for several days.

But wait… Days?

When I realized something, I stood up from my bed. I still have a lot of work to do. My mission was still unfinished. Because of what the witch did to me, my legs no longer ache. I only remember Arius saving my life and taking me somewhere I was unfamiliar with. I need to get out of here as soon as possible. I was going to leave when Arius spoke up behind me.

“Where are you going, Athena?” he asked.

When I heard his voice, my heart started racing. Whatever happens, I will always be grateful because he has saved my life numerous times. Despite how far I pushed him away, he chose to stay. But he was still my opponent. My plan would remain the same, and nothing would change. I'll need to use Arius to catch my prey. To do so, I need to get along with him.

“I have to leave, Arius because I was running out of time, and I had no idea how long I had been sleeping—”

Arius appeared in front of me, interrupting what I was about to say.

“You've been sleeping for two days, Athena, and you had no idea how anxious I was about you. I tried everything I could to treat you. I feared you were dead, but thank goodness because you're still alive,” Arius remarked.

When I heard what Arius had told me, my mouth almost dropped to the ground. I appeared to be unable to process what he had just said. I had the notion that I had misheard it.

“If I were dead… Why am I still alive? Aren't you simply teasing me?”

Because of what I said, Arius sighs. My heart began to race again as he turned his head away.

“I am so sorry, Athena,” He continued, “But I did something to bring you back to life.”

“What have you done to me, Arius? Did you turn me into a monster?”

I can't seem to stop overthinking. What if Arius bites me and turns me into a person like him? But, if he does… I should be craving for blood right now.

“I didn't even attempt to turn you, Athena. I… I just tasted your blood, and trust me, it's all for the best. It's the only way for me to remove the poison from Wanda's magic,” he continued, looking at me. I sigh because Arius appears serious in what he stated.

“Are you being truthful? You just bit me to save my life, not to turn me into you?” I inquired. Arius chuckled at me while nodding his head.

“Yes, Athena, and that's why you're still alive. I won't turn you down because you're important to me,”

My face flush from his words as I turned away. When he mentioned how important I am to him, my heart appeared to race.

“I… I have to go, Arius, because I still have a lot of work to do. I need to return to my camp. Thank you for saving my life yet again,” I told him.

Arius just smiled and gripped both of my shoulders, so I looked him in the eyes.

“Anything for you, Athena,” Arius responded. “I will go to do everything for you. If you want to go, please allow me to accompany you.”

Because of what Arius said, a deep breath exited my throat. I'd like to complain, but I'm exhausted right now. This is not the time for me to debate the vampire king. So, I nodded in agreement with him.

“Fine.”

I was fascinated by Arius' smile. His smile was so beautiful. When I saw him smile, I got carried away. It's enthralling.

“I'll be right there, Athena. Please don't leave. I simply need to take a brief bath,” he explained, making me laugh. Arius was terrified of losing me, but I had no intention of leaving.

“I swear, I will not,” I said as Arius walked away to take a bath. I sat on the couch and began to look around his place. Arius was residing in a royal palace. This house is stunning and a great distance from the mundane. I'm curious now how many women he brought here besides myself.

“What am I thinking about?” I asked myself, shaking my head a few times. I'd been patiently waiting for Arius to come out of his bathroom for five minutes. I was already on the verge of losing patience. I was about to stand up when I heard the click of the doorknob in the bathroom. Arius emerged, and he's… He's completely naked.

A small white towel was the only thing covering his manhood. Because of how I focused my gaze on his body, I could feel my face flush. Arius appeared to realize what I was doing, so he spoke out.

“Do you like the view?” Because of what he asked, I instantly turned my head aside until Arius came in front of me. He grasped my waist and pulled our bodies apart. I could smell the shampoo he used, which was very fragrant. His hair was still wet, and the way the water from his hair fell on his body made him appear extremely hot. Aside from having a handsome face, the vampire king has six-pack abs and is a full-package type of man.

“You must hurry now, Arius, because I still have a lot to do,” I told him. I tried everything I could to slow down my heartbeat, but it was uncontrollable. It reacted as a result of what Arius was doing at the moment.

“Until I kiss you…” He uttered something that made my mouth drop open. Arius was about to say something to me once again when we heard a knock on the door that separates us. I was the one who opened it, but I was taken aback when I saw a man standing in front of me who resembled…

“Arius?”
