Chapter 7

Athena's Point of View

It's been already three minutes had already passed and I was still standing in front of Arius; the demon vampire king. I wasn't able to digest the words that he uttered to me.

“You're out of your mind, King of the vampires. I had no reason to stay here with you.”

I uttered to him and faced the door of his room. Even though my wound was still aching, I have to go. It seems like I cannot stay here for any longer. It feels like my life would be in living hell when Arius is beside me.

I opened the door and was about to leave when a group of vampires saw me. They ran in my direction, so I immediately locked the door and went back to Arius.

“It's very dangerous for you to go out, Athena. Your wound was still bleeding. It should totally heal before you go out.”

A deep breath escaped from my throat because of what he uttered. I think I don't have a choice but to stay here until I recover and maybe also a bit longer, so I would be able to do my mission.

I would use this chance to better learn my enemies. This is the only way for me to slay them, including the demon vampire king. I just hope that I could slay him, but I will do everything I can.

“I think I don't have a choice.”

Arius smiled because of what I uttered. I was captivated by his smile. The way his lips curved, it seems like he's taking my breath away. I never thought that the demon vampire king would be this attractive.

“I… I'm hungry.”

Those words came out from my mouth abruptly to wash the thought away from my head. I don't want to think of it because I have a game and I don't want to lose the game that was created by me.

If there's someone who would lose the game, it would be Arius and the rest of his allies.

“I will prepare you with food. You stay here and don't ever go out if you don't want all the vampires to attack you.” He uttered that made me smirk.

“Have you forgotten who I am?” I asked, and Arius smirked as well.

“I know you, Athena. You're a hunter, but you're wounded, don't you?” He asked and I just sighed.

The more I wanted to go out here, but I can't do that. Vampires are everywhere. I won't be able to fight them because I'm wounded.

“Fine!”

Arius just laughed because of what I did. I even rolled my eyes and went back to bed. He left after that, so I was left alone inside the room. I can't stop myself from thinking about my allies. I know they worried about me. The camp will probably be looking for me. Well, they're scared to lose me. I am the most prominent hunter living on earth.

They are needing me, the more I want them. If I were to choose, I'd rather be alone than to have companions, but I have a debt to them. They gave me shelter and I have to pay them by helping them in saving the mundane.

While thinking of that demon vampire king, I didn't notice that I already fell asleep. I have no idea how many hours I have been asleep. All I know is that I woke up because I felt someone brushing my hair. I opened my eyes widely and saw Arius.

“What are you doing!?”

I queried with an angry tone. Arius moved away when I prepared myself to attack him. He defended himself abruptly.

“I just can't prevent myself, Athena…”

He uttered, so I gritted my teeth. This man was really getting on my nerves.

“Are you trying to suck my blood, are you?”

“Oh no, that would never be going to happen. If I had a plan of sucking your blood, I would probably do that even when you're still asleep.”

I just continued gritting my teeth and didn't know what to think.

“You suck me, remember?” I inquired and that made him let out a sigh.

“Yes, but to save your life. Come on, I already have your food. You can taste it, so you regain your energy back.” He uttered, so I turned my head to the bedside table.

There was a bowl of food and water above. I felt my stomach growling in hunger already. However, I wasn't sure how to taste it. I was hesitant to eat the foods he prepared for me because of one thing.

What if he puts something in that food and would be the reason for my death?

“I know what you're thinking now, Athena… That food has no poison. I won't poison you, I swear.”

I looked at him as he mentioned those words. Arius was maybe a demon vampire king, but I know for sure that he's telling the truth. This is also because my heart was telling me that what he mentioned was real. The food has no poison, and I shouldn't be scared of that.

I was about to reach the spoon and fed myself when Arius already took the spoon, that shocked me. He scooped up the food and moved it closer to my mouth.

“What are you doing?” I inquired.

“Feeding you, Athena. Please, just allow me to do this. I wanted to serve you because it's also my fault why you're here, remember?”

My mind wanted to argue with Arius, but then I remembered my plans. I should act nice in front of him and pretend that I didn't despise him, so all of my plans will work out. I don't have a choice, but to let him feed me. So, I opened my mouth and accepted the food that he wanted me to eat.

I have also proven that the food was safe. Arius continued feeding me until I finished all the food in the bowl.

“Should I thank you for what you did, Arius?”

He furrowed his brows from what I inquired to him. I know it sounded sarcastic, but it doesn't matter to me. I don't care what he might think about what I have said.

“A kiss will do.”

And that stunned me.
