Chapter 4 Please Lend Me Money

Entering the hospital, Cynthia saw at the first sight his mother, who was sitting on a green plastic chair, wailing, and his father, who was gloomy and smoking.

Seeing her coming, Melody wiped the tears from her face, stepped forward, and held her hand tightly, "Cynthia, now only you can save your brother!"

"What happened to Andy? Why did he enter the emergency room in this unexpected way?!" Cynthia became more and more anxious.

Melody's look was embarrassed. Her lips moved but she didn't say anything.

On the corner of this floor, his father, William, was smoking.

Cynthia was overcome with anxiety, and her voice rose a little: "Dad, don't smoke for now! Tell me what has happened!"

William put out the cigarette butt in his hand, and sighed, "Andy is tricked into playing Paramount. At first, he lost ten thousand, but the debtor lent him a usury loan, and now he owes one million... ..."

"Our family is not rich. Your mother and I earn a median income. Our salary is at most twenty thousand in total a year. How can we have one million to repay..."

"The lender seems to be backed up by gangs and threatens Andy to let him use his car and house as collateral. Because Andy hasn't repaid the debt in time, he is struck in the head and rushed into the emergency room."

After listening, Cynthia's body trembled and she almost lost her footing.

She leaned against the wall, her face turning pale gradually.

"One million... How could I get such a big sum of five million..."

Andy was a grown-up. Why was he so ruthless...

Melody and William looked at each other. Then Melody clenched Cynthia's arm and begs: " We need not only the one million but also an operation fee, hospitalization fee, and the like as your brother is lying in the emergency room for treatments... So, your brother can only rely on you this time."

"Are your relationship with Gray always very good, isn't it? If you ask him for money, he will give it to you. "

These words drifted into Cynthia's ears, and she only felt sour and uncomfortable in her heart.

She had never told her parents about her squabbles with Gray, and she had been standing up for him, lavishing praise on him in front of them, and saying that he loved her very much. For so long, she had been enduring her distress and swallowed the pain.

Now that Andy had encountered such big trouble, her mother had pinned all her hopes on Cynthia. How could she have the bravery to tell them that the marriage, which looked so perfect in their eyes had just come to an end.

"Cynthia, say something. Your brother is still lying in the emergency room!" Melody shook her arm and said eagerly.

Cynthia came back to her senses and forced a smile on her parents, "Mom, Dad, don't worry. I will let our family get through this difficult time."

After comforting his parents, she left the hospital and returned home.

Sitting on the sofa and waiting for Gray until it turned dark, Cynthia's heart became more and more flustered.

He hated her so much. Would he be willing to lend her money...

After hesitating for a long time, she gathered up her courage, clenched her phone tightly, and clicked a string of numbers on the screen she had remembered by heart.

But no one answered the phone.

She didn't give up, and called him once and once again, ending up with the same result.

Considering that he might be busy, she edited a text message to send him.

However, there was still no reply.

Cynthia's heart gradually became dejected and down. She clutched her phone tightly and sat on the sofa, waiting for Gray to call back, until she fell asleep leaning on the sofa herself.

Cynthia didn't know that her mobile phone number was blacklisted by Olivia from Gray's mobile phone.

At one o'clock in the morning, Cynthia heard a crisp unlocking sound, followed by the sound of leather shoes getting closer and closer.

Is he back...

Cynthia suddenly got up, rubbed her sleepy eyes, and looked towards the door.

Gray's tall figure appeared in front of her.

Her loose consciousness gradually returned. She stood up and greeted her with a smile.

"Gray, you're finally back."

Gray looked at her with his expressionless face, keeping a distance from her without being noticed. His eyebrows were full of mockery, "Didn't you say you want to get a divorce. Why do you have the gall to come back now?!"

"I...", Cynthia's heart became tense, and the hands that were put on both sides of his body were tightly clasped.

Her face looked very embarrassed.

She took the initiative to ask for a divorce, and now that she came back was equivalent to trampling upon the dignity she had and bringing her humiliation.

"You were back for money, right?" Gray's words hit the nail on the head.

Cynthia was stunned for a moment, while her face turned pale. How could he know?!

Seeing her being the underdog, Gray smiled widely, "I advise you not to waste your time. I would rather throw it into the sewer than give you any penny, because..."

His angular face slowly approached her, and his handsome face was cold enough to freeze everything into ice slag, "I hate bitch, especially those with a complicated mind like you."

"If you still have a little sense of shame, I advise you to get out of this villa as soon as possible!"

After he finished speaking, he turned back, going upstairs.

These words were like the sharpest dagger stabbed at her heart. Her body was stiff, and her face was instantly pale.

She had always been a thoughtful bitch in his eyes...

Indeed, in his eyes, she was shouting for a divorce one second ago, but the next second he came to him with a brazen face for money. Isn't it what a bitch will do?

Now her younger brother was lying unconscious in the operation room, and he still owed a staggering sum of debts. In face of her younger brother's safety being threatened, her sense of shame was nothing.

Trying to suppress all the sourness in her heart, she bit the bullets and summoned up her courage.

"Gray."

His movement up the stairs stopped.

Cynthia bit his lips, came to him clenching her palms tightly and stared into his deep and cold eyes.

"Gray, can I ask you to lend me money?"

Gray's cold eyes shot at Cynthia like ice blades, and a few words were coldly spat out of thin lips, "Why?"

With a trembling in her voice, she replied timidly, "I can do anything...just hope you could lend me money."

Gray raised her chin with his big hand, with a playful tone: "Oh? Are you sure you can do anything?"

Cynthia squeezed the fingers into the palm of her hand a little harder, the knuckles turning abnormally blue, and her wet eyes were lowered. "Yes, anything." She bit her lips.

"Then if you serve me well tonight, I can think about it."

Staring at those eyes for a while, Cynthia finally nodded--

As soon as the door was closed, Gray pressed Cynthia on the door, and the hot kiss landed on her face fiercely.
