Chapter 4 - Going on a hunger strike
Jennifer was startled and took a few steps backwards.
Simon was followed by two nannies, and he instructed in a cold voice, "Keep eyes on her! If she dies, you guys will be held responsible!"
"Are you afraid that I am going to die?"
"I'm just worried about you would poison my child.
As for you, it's none of my business if you live or die after giving birth!"
Jennifer was exasperated, "Your child is a life, what about us? lives are lower than grass."
"Just stay here properly and give birth, I don't want to explain anything." Simon turned back without patience, telling the nanny to keep an eye on her, and left.
Jennifer was so hungry, but she no longer had any interest in eating. She wanted to enjoy freedom.
Kicking the door a few more times and eventually she just sat on the bed and sulked.
A few minutes later, someone brought her dinner. In fact, she enjoyed a wonderful in the Barry family, the things she used were always best, but at that time she felt she didn't deserve them because her poor brother was still waiting for her help.
And now, Jennifer was more disgusted, she hated everything here, disgusting and powerless.
"Miss Louise, dinner is served."
"Take it away." Jennifer pressed her stomach, holding back her hunger, instead of living like this, it was better to die of hunger with some backbone.
"You'll have health problems if you don't eat or drink."
"Simon treats me like this, so what if I get sick? If I don't get sick, will he feel better?" The more she said, the more aggrieved she became, but the nanny didn't understand what she was saying, so she could only shake her head and continue to urge her to eat some food anyway, even if it was for the sake of the baby.
As soon as Jennifer heard about the child, she became even more determined to go on a hunger strike. She would not allow Simon's child to live, just as Simon did not leave any of her own family members alive.
The nanny had no choice but to see her look of determination and dared not persuade her, fearing that if she made a mistake the owner would fire her, as she needed the job so much to support the family.
"Sir, Miss Louise, she won't even take a bite of meal." The nanny had to call Simon, who had just gone to the company to attend a meeting. Simon was notorious for his uncertainty and inscrutability, so the nanny keyed up, only to hear his seemingly smiling voice, "Then I will see."
After Simon finished speaking, he continued his meeting. He had to be busy at the company for these two days, so naturally he didn't have time to care about Jennifer, anyway, maybe she'll have a meal herself if she cannot stand the hunger.
The assistant came into the office at that moment and brought another stack of documents for him. Simon needed to review them one by one, and he rubbed his temples, took a sip of the coffee on the table and started working. He just kept himself busy so that he could stop bothering with the chores.
And Jennifer, she really had the backbone to not eat or drink for two days, starving herself until her became faint, lying in bed every day without exercising, her whole body was like mold, so when Simon came back late at night and suddenly opened the door to her room, she didn't even have the strength to scold him.
Simon looked around, nothing much had changed from when he left. It was really like the nanny had said on the phone, she would only use a little trick like this.
"I heard that you haven't eaten in two days?"
Simon put down his briefcase and went to sit in front of her bed.
Jennifer closed her eyes tightly and did not look at him, her lips were pale and dry, which made Simon's heart ache a little.
"I'm talking to you."
"Please go out."
Jennifer could only croak. Simon saw her trampling on her body so much in order to deal with himself, he became furious and snapped at his servants, "As long as she doesn't eat, all of you all can't eat a meal either, and if she dies of hunger, you guys must all die of hunger with her, undertood?"
"Sir, please don't ......" The nannies were so frightened that they immediately apologized, and they could only turn to the good-natured Jennifer and said, "Miss Louise, please eat something, please! There are old and young at home, we really can't afford this! Can you spare us and have something to eat?"
Simon knew her character of not being able to drag other people down and that's why he dealt with her.
Jennifer opened her eyes and looked at Simon, the hatred in her eyes could swallow him, she could only grit her teeth and sit up, feeding herself porridge on the table .
"Well, can't I just eat myself to death?"
"That's good. Even if you don't eat, my son still has to eat." Simon saw her eat all the food and gave her a "compliment" with a smile, before he left the door with relief.
Jennifer knew that Simon would not let herself die so comfortably, so what she can do is to get through the days to come.
