Chapter 3
Nellie placed her palm on his neck again, it wasn't just to check how he was feeling but she felt warmth whenever she does, plus she thinks that once he wakes, she might not have the opportunity to touch him again.
"The fuck are you doing?" A voice sounded behind her all of a sudden as heavy steps rushed towards her.
She took her hands off immediately and before she could turn, she saw a tall man before her.
"Why are you laying your hands on him, you fucking rogue," he bellowed angrily. He could tell from her scent that she was a rogue. Seeing that his Alpha wasn't dressed properly and also had an injury on his shoulder, he drew out his dagger believing that it was Nellie who hurt him.
"I'll let you die a miserable death," he raised the dagger up in the air very swiftly but before he could even make a move, a gentle voice sounded, "hold it."
Charlie paused and wondered why his alpha ordered him to stop, he reported, "Earl, she's a rogue and she just hurt you."
This time, Nellie had quickly stood and even if Earl had not spoken, she wouldn't have let him stab her so easily. She wasn't that weak and vulnerable.
"Oh! So that's how you repay your master's savior? Speaks so much about you," Nellie said fearlessly.
Charlie, who was a beta to Earl clenched his fist and spoke," how can you speak to me in such manner? I guess you have no idea whom my master and I are."
"I'll like to know about people who doesn't appreciate their savior," Nellie replied.
Earl grunted and Charlie quickly attended to him, out of the anger he was having towards the woman before him, he had almost forgotten that he needed to attend to his alpha who needed urgent medical attention.
Charlie squatted before him and examined his wound," Earl, who dare to hurt you this way?"
"I'll be fine," Earl said as he managed to sit upright, the pain on his shoulder had reduced but he still felt exhausted. He didn't want to talk about who attacked him cause of the presence of Nellie whom he believed to be a stranger.
Nellie had a strong smell of a rogue and he could perceive it, but he was confused as to whether he was among the rogue that attacked him. If she was, why then was she trying to help him get healed?
"And this woman, what should I do to her?" Charlie asked, still having grudges towards Nellie. First because she was a rogue and rogues were not permitted on their territory and secondly because she saw him with his boss who was not fully clothed.
"She saved me," Earl spoke.
"She's a rogue, we can't trust her," Charlie argued.
"He just said I saved him and all that's going through your mind is to kill the savior of your friend?" Nellie asked angrily. He didn't like men like Charlie.
"He's the alpha of the blood pack, I guess you don't know this but now you do, and I'm the beta," Charlie revealed their identity to her.
She was stupefied when she heard about their true identity, she had heard about how powerful Earl was as the leader of his pack. When she was an alpha of her pack, she had always wished for a day to meet with him, she had thought it would be in a formal way but it turned out their first meeting would be in the forest.
"The fact that I'm a rogue doesn't mean I don't have a good heart that can help, not all rogues are evil," she said.
'What if she was one of the rogues and was probably helping him because she had an hidden agenda?' Earl thought suspiciously as he observed her.
He had already made a vow to ensure that no rogue exist on the surface of the earth again and he won't change his mind. The fact that she was a rogue disgust him despite the fact that she helped him with his wound. If she had not helped her at all, she would most definitely be dead by now.
He felt a dull pain in his heart as an image of his wife having sex with the rogue leader appeared before him, he clenched his fist in anger and wish that it was one of them that was before him at this moment, he would have killed them in a brutal way.
He exchanged direct eye contact with Nellie for a few seconds before she took her gaze away from his. Most women would most likely be like his wife, why was this woman still alive? He couldn't tell precisely when he had not ordered Beta to kill her.
He motioned for the Beta to help him stand and once he was on his foot, he said to Nellie," thanks for the help."
Nellie nodded, wondering if he was aware that she placed her hand on his neck twice.
"But I won't let you go, " he said, making her relaxed face turn into a frown.
"Why not? Do you plan on arresting me? I'm a rogue and I will leave your territory, you don't have to worry," Earl said.
"You are not leaving, you have to follow me," he declared.
"Why? Do you want to keep me as a rogue?"
"I don't intend keeping you for long but I don't trust you, you will be with me until I find out the truth about you," he said.
"And what if I say no?"
"To an alpha? In his territory?" Charlie chirped in. He wondered how a woman can be this fearless before his alpha. Many people don't even have the gut to look at Earl's face when talking to him yet this woman was talking to him courageously.
"If you refuse to follow me, then it will further confirm my suspicion about you. Since you have no home and no pack is ready to have you on their territory, why would you refuse an offer to live with me unless of course, you have something you are hiding." Earl said.
Nellie wouldn't mind living with this handsome alpha, she nodded in agreement and said," I'll follow you."
