Chapter 3

Y A S M I N

"Where do you think you're taking my son."

I stopped walking hearing the voice. Turning my face towards the source of voice my eyes widen in surprise seeing the arrogant man I met yesterday

"You!" I said pointing at him. He trekked towards me with a scowl on his face.

"Where do you think you're taking my son." He said again with fury in his eyes.

This guy must be sick.

A chuckle escapes my lips. "Who is your son? You don't look like someone who has a son." I ushered back.

"I see you must be one of those young girls who kidnap people's children for money tell me how much do you want?" His words hurt me.

How dare him call me a kidnapper.

In my whole life, I've never met someone so arrogant like him.

"Excuse me Mr man I'm not that kind of person and for your information, I saw this kid crying alone on the street and I asked him where are his mommy and daddy he didn't tell me anything so I decided to take him to my house maybe I can find a way to look for his parents." His expression changes for some seconds before he masked it up with anger.

"Don't lie to me woman, you better start begging for your life you don't know who you're messing with." He spitted venom dripping from his voice.

"Oh yes, I clearly know who you are Mr. Marwan Siddiq what will you do." I spitted back a grin appearing on my lips. He was taken aback by my outburst.

Do I care?

"Are you speechless Mr. Marwan," I added.

We glared at each other each with his own thought. To be honest I was a little scared.

"Daddy." We heard the little boy voice.

Da-

What?

My eyes almost popped out of its socket. "He's your father. " The words came out as a statement. I could see the smirk of victory on his face.

"Well, Miss you can see the truth with your eyes clearly now." He said taking a hold of the boy's hand.

"My name is Yasmin." I don't know why I told him my name, maybe it's because I'm fed off with him calling me Miss.

"I didn't ask for your name."

"Whatever." I spitted back rolling my eyes. I almost smack myself remembering aunt must be waiting for me.

I crouched down to the boy's level. "Boy, can you tell me your name?" I asked

"Amir" Marwan answered.

"I'm talking to your son, not you." I glare at him.

"Amir do you want to be my friend?" I said to the little boy cupping his face. After a while, he nods his head.

"Don't worry if we meet next time, I will buy you chocolate but now I have to go my aunt is waiting for me."

"What a lady." I heard Marwan muttered under his breath.

"I heard you, man."

"Goodbye Amir and goodbye Mr. Man," I said waving at the little boy from the corner of my eyes I could see his angry face.

"What took you so long Yasmin," Aunt asked the moment I stepped inside the house.

"I'm sorry aunt there was a little boy I saw alone on the street so I helped him," I replied back.

"Subhanallah this world is scary why must someone leave a little kid alone on the street. Have you found his parents?" She asked.

"Yes." I gave her the medicine and went up to my room. Tomorrow is my first day at work so I can't be late.

**

"Good morning Miss Yasmin you're quietly early." The woman whom I met yesterday said.

I croaked a smile. "Yes."

"Call me Linda," She added with a smile. "Let me take you to your office." She added. I like how Linda is friendly, I barely know her but she seems like a nice person.

There are few people inside the room each one concentrating on his work.

"Good morning everyone, we have a new addition to your team, I hope you guys will corporate and work together," Linda said. Suddenly all attention turns towards me some are smiling, while some kept their faces neutral.

"Feel free to ask them anything you don't understand." She whispered to my ear.

"Thank you, Linda."

"You're welcome, I must take my leave now see you later." She said walking away.

I settle my things on the empty desk beside a lady who looks young.

"Hello I'm Matilda, you must be a Muslim."

What sort of question is that

Can't she see the scarf on my head?

"I'm Yasmin," I answered croaking a smile.

After working for two hours, I felt relaxed. At first, I thought they will not like me but it turns out quietly good some introduced themselves while some are minding their own business.

"It's time for lunch aren't you going," Matilda asked.

"Sure"

We went to the restaurant few blocks away from the office and ordered.

"So tell me about you." Matilda blurted out.

"No any interesting thing about me, I'm just me."

"Oh really, you seem nice we will get along." She started talking about herself, which I half listen to.

She's such a talkative.

"You have no idea how full I am right now, I can't eat anything at the moment." She said while we're walking back to our office.

"Of course you will be, you ate two plates." We are about to enter the elevator when we bumped into the boss.

"Good day Mr. Sa'ad." Matilda greet. The guy didn't even flinch by her greetings.

But he was all smiling at me yesterday.

There must be something wrong with this guy.

Nothing was uttered inside the elevator till he stepped out leaving me and Matilda. She inhaled a sharp breath.

"I almost had a heart attack did you see how he looks so hot." She squirms. I took my time to access her again

Who is she calling hot?

"Who are you calling hot?" I find myself asking.

"Of course Mr. Sa'ad but his brother is much more handsome than him."
