Chapter 6 A Severe Warning
''Don't worry about me, Jerry. I'm fine. My dad sent for me,'' Elizabeth told her supposed savior.
''I'll accompany you to the hospital,'' Jerry replied to Elizabeth with a cold baritone.
Elizabeth didn't say anything else but glance at Audrey while she started to find her way out of Audrey's presence.
''What are you looking at?'' Leopold asked Elizabeth. ''You think Audrey gives a hoot about your falling in love with Jerry? Not in your wildest dreams,'' he told her.
Leopold was sure that Audrey had gotten over the infatuation she had for Jerry, so he was extremely confident while he talked down on Elizabeth.
Elizabeth blushed in shame and left under the umbrella that Jerry had brought for her.
It was obvious that Jerry and Elizabeth shared a closer relationship than they allowed everyone else to see.
Elizabeth didn't know how to feel about what had just happened, but what she was sure of was that she was happy to leave that damn lowlife school. It was not for her.
She had caged herself for as long as she thought she could get Jerry to like her back, but now, she was sure that she had snapped out of the feeling she had for him, so she let herself out of the cage.
''Audrey, did you just say sorry to Elizabeth?'' Leopold asked with surprise. He placed the back of his hand on Audrey's forehead to check her temperature.
''What are you doing?'' Audrey asked him with a ridiculous smirk.
''Checking if you have lost your senses. You have to have a fever for you to apologize to Elizabeth,'' Leopold replied.
The day before Jerry rejected Audrey, she had confessed to him that Leopold was not her boyfriend, and he had nothing to worry about as far as she and Leopold were concerned, but, it was as if Jerry had been waiting to humiliate Audrey because as soon as she confessed her total commitment to him, he rejected her.
Leopold was now surprised to see that after such humiliation Audrey suffered at the hands of Jerry and Elizabeth, she was still nice to them.
''I'm fluid. I don't take anything to heart like that. It's not the end of the world,'' Audrey replied.
''What? Are you afraid of Jerry Dank? You can easily crush him if you like,'' a puzzled Leopold replied.
''I said I am fine. Stay away from Jerry in the future. If you don't have any serious dealing with him, please don't bother him. Stay away from him,'' Audrey warned Leopold.
Leopold desperately wanted to retaliate against Jerry for humiliating Audrey the way he did, but Audrey did not allow him.
''I don't have any business with him,'' Leopold replied with a sullen tone.
''It's just the way he carries that ugly face of his as if someone owes him a lot of money. I find it disturbing to look at,'' Leopold complained.
The rain got heavier, and the clouds darkened with thunder and lightning roaring and lighting up the sky.
Audrey looked at the rain pouring with nostalgia.
''Leopold, do you remember those games we used to play when we were younger?'' Audrey asked with good cheer.
''Of course, I remember,'' a perplexed Leopold replied.
''What are you about to do? Step into the rain and get yourself wet?'' he asked Audrey.
Audrey didn't give him any reply. Instead, she stepped into the rain and allowed it to slap her face while she lit up in delight.
She closed her eyes and allowed the rain to wash away the former thoughts she had for Jerry, and the melancholy she had gone through in this school. All because of Jerry Dank.
Audrey stepped into a puddle of water and got her socks and shoes wet.
''What are you doing, Audrey? You shouldn't be in the rain. It's too cold,'' Leopold said, trying to pull her out from the rain.
''Have you seen Peppa pig? When it rains, Peppa and his friends will play in the mud,'' Audrey told Leopold with zest.
''So are you a pig?'' Leopold asked her with his eyebrows raised.
''You are the pig,'' Audrey replied, kicking muddy water on Leopold's face, and allowing him to run after her in the rain. They were having fun.
While Audrey and Leopold were under the rain, they noticed someone approaching them.
It was Jerry.
Audrey was surprised. Why did he come back?
Jerry had already walked close enough to Audrey before she noticed that he was under the rain too. His eyes were dark and reflected the light of the building a distance away. It took a lot of courage for Audrey not to run away because Jerry looked scary.
''What are you doing here? Audrey is no longer interested in you. Why are you going close to her?'' Leopold quickly stood up for Audrey, asking Jerry what he was up to but Jerry ignored him.
''Audrey, I don't know what you want from me. I don't know what your family plans to do, but if you have any problem with me, you better face it with me. Leave my family out of it, and leave Elizabeth's family out of it,'' Jerry warned Audrey. His dark eyes would not stop boring holes in her face.
Jerry's voice was not loud at all, but Audrey could sense the invisible oppression that it carried. And the aura Jerry had around him was too heavy to say otherwise.
''If you do any harm to my family or the Coker family, I will make your family regret it in the future. Mark my words,'' Jerry continued.
Although Jerry was a teenager while he spoke to Audrey like this, he still had the aura of a ruthless business mogul.
His eyebrows twitched in coercion while he stared Audrey down like prey.
Audrey's knees grew weak in fear.
She wanted to leave Jerry's presence immediately, but she had to find out what he was talking about because his threat was a tad bit severe.
''I, I don't understand what you are talking about, Jerry,'' Audrey replied.
