Chapter 5

'Who is that person beside you!" The old woman yelled angrily. 'Have I not told you I don't want any of those stupid girls you keep bringing here?" The grandma asked the storekeeper angrily

'Good day grandma." Susan greeted the old woman so that she could introduce herself to her.

'How dare you call me that?" Susan stepped back immediately. She was wondering how a woman in a wheelchair is so aggressive.

'Grandma, I would have lived to stop but your son Insisted on getting you new help." The storekeeper explained to the old woman.

Susan and the old woman's eyes met, Susan found her glare too scary so she looked away immediately.

'Who are you and what's your name?" The old woman asked susan.

'My name is Susan Emberdale." The old lady still didn't look pleased with her, so she turned around and headed to her room.

'Is she always like that?" The storekeeper turned to look at susan.

'I asked you before telling you to follow me."

'But you never told me I'll be taking care of an old woman." Susan muttered to herself.

'Did you say anything?" The storekeeper asked susan.

'No, I didn't."

'Okay, good. Your clothes are in your room, and you have to get up every day by 4am." Susan's eyes widened.

'Four in the morning?" Susan asked, finding it unbelievable.

'Do you have a problem with that?"

'No, I don't,"

'I have to be on my way now, I'll give you the contract form tomorrow." Susan was wondering what type of mess she had gotten herself into.

'Okay, thank you," Susan said to the storekeeper and closed the door.

'Don't you ever slam my door like that!" The old woman yelled angrily from her room.

'Seriously? How did she hear the sound from up there?" Susan said to herself and walked to her room.

She was surprised to see how clean the room is, it was arranged like they were expecting a guest. Susan lay on the bed tiredly and closed her eyes.

The moment she closed her eyes she remembered how Rex threw her out of the castle like she meant nothing to him.

'Can I just wake up from this unending nightmare?" Susan asked herself, trying hard to forget what had happened during the day.

Susan sat up on the bed and started crying. It was just too hard for her to forget. She realized Alpha Rex only used her to achieve his goals, and when there was no more need for her again he decided to dump her.

'I loved him with everything that I had," Susan said to herself and couldn't stop crying. Susan suddenly realized she is slowly breaking because of Rex and she promised herself she would let any man make her break.

She wiped her tears and slept off.

THE NEXT MORNING*******

'Where is that lazy idiot!" The old lady yelled out angrily.

'susan!" The old woman shouted her name. She took her little water with her while she was leaving the room. The moment she got to Susan's room she saw her laying on the bed still sleeping.

'Oh my..," Marissa jumped up the moment she felt water pouring on her. She was wondering what was going on until she sighted the old woman.

'Good morning grandma." Susan greeted the old woman still in shock at how she woke up.

'Why are you still sleeping by this time? Don't you know it's time to help me with my bath?" Grandma said to her angrily and rode her wheelchair out of Susan's room.

Susan lowered her head and placed her hand on her belly. She would have decided to stop but for the sake of the baby growing inside her, she is ready to do anything.

She followed the old woman to her room. Susan was confused because she was not taught how to bathe the old woman.

'Why do you keep walking around hopeless?" The old woman asked susan.

'Uhm…i-i am wondering which of these two is the bathing soap?" The old woman looked at Susan in disgust.

'You are so stupid, I thought you will be different from the other girls that worked here." The old lady rode her wheelchair and took the soap.

'What are you still doing here? Get out!" Susan was shocked to hear what the old woman said to her, it made her remember the way Rex yelled at her to get out of the pack.

'Go and make me breakfast." Susan was acting traumatized by the word ‘get out' as it kept ringing in her head.

'susan!" The moment she heard the old woman's voice she snapped out of her thoughts and walked out of the room.

'What is wrong with me?" Susan asked herself and sat on the couch in the sitting room.

She was wondering how an old lady would eat her breakfast so early. She remembered how the old lady always yelled so she stood up and walked to the kitchen.

She made breakfast for the old woman and when the woman was done bathing she made her way downstairs.

'I'm done serving breakfast ma'am." The old woman raised her head to look at susan.

'Won't you help me to the dining chair?" Susan immediately rushed to help the old woman.

'You can leave, I'll call you if I need anything." Susan thought of not going because she didn't know if the old woman meant what she was saying it not.

'Ma'am I…"

'Why are you being too stubborn?" The old lady slammed her hand on the table angrily.

'I'm sorry I'll leave now." Susan walked away immediately.

The old lady looked at what susan served her and it smelt nice but she was a bit unsure of how it'll taste.

My wolf started pacing aggressively in my head, I was trying to communicate but he keeps wanting to jump out of my head. I wasn't going to let him out because one Language Rex understood was violence. I'm the nicer one out of the two of us and if I was being honest, Rex makes a lot of rRex decisions on his own. I let him out on rare occasions and at wars, Rex is always unstoppable, many feared him more than they fear me. Something huge was about to happen to us and I could feel it too. I'm sure he could too, there was this rush of adrenalin pumping through me.

I broke into a jog towards the pack clinic because I can't keep calm and keep walking again. I wanted to do something more. Arriving at the pack clinic, Theodore was standing outside already waiting for me. He waved his hands and I turned to walk towards him. Rex's pacing became more aggressive and the adrenalin pump was so high. I literally want to break into a run and run for hours along the borders of my pack but something was keeping me rooted here. I was being energy high and I wanted to do a lot of things while finding what to do too.

That was when it hit me, the enchanting lavender smell. Walking closer to Theodore he had it splattered all over his body. I could smell it so well. Theodore can't even be my mate, the goddess dare not play a trick on us. Rex was almost growling in my head but I couldn't pick up what he was saying. My whole body was on fire and my thought scattered all over the place. Did Theodore come in contact with my mate before me? I had no doubt about this and Rex didn't like it one bit that Theodore had touched our mate before us and her scent was scattered all over his body.

'My Alpha, is there something wrong? You look a little unsettled. Scratch that, you look restless." Theodore said and I took another breath. I was an adult and I can definitely deal with this in a proper manner. I took short deep breaths in quick succession before I turned to look at him. The scent had reduced and I sighed in relief. Theodore wasn't my mate but he had come in contact with my mate. Rex kept up with the pacing and he wasn't pleased one but that Theodore came in contact with our mate before us.

'There's a weird scent coming from you. It's not there before. Did you touch anyone else?" I asked with a low voice and he nodded slowly. He was lost at first and when everything started to come back to him, his mouth rounded in an "O" and he beckoned me to follow him.

He walked hastily into the pack clinic and I followed him. The scent was becoming stronger and as I walked closer to the roll of rooms, the smell became stronger. The adrenalin rush was still there and I was close to tears, I was finally getting a mate. After so many years, the moon goddess finally took pity on my lonely self.

I was finally going to have a mate to call mine, I was finally going to see someone to call mine and spend the rest of my life with. We were going to start our own little family and we would be happy forever. I couldn't wait but for some reason, I started having cold feet. What if she doesn't want me as her mate? What if she has fallen in love with someone else, or what if she has a thing against her chosen mates? I don't even want to go down that lane at all.

As if Theodore could read my mind, he slowed down a bit before he grabbed my hand, it was some kind of reassurance, and I'm thankful that I have this man in my corner. He's always so understanding and in moments when I can say what's going on; it's as if he can read my thoughts. I'm happy to have him as a friend and as my beta.

When we got to the entrance of the room, the scent intensified and it was clouding my senses. I pushed the door open gently and I walked in with hope. I hope whoever the Moon Goddess picked for me, would be perfect for me in my own way. She would complete me in ways no one else had. I couldn't wait to meet her. I never had any expectations for my mate because I wanted to love her as she is, I only prayed she was perfect for me.

When Susan got to her room. She decided to pinch herself because everything seemed to be happening too fast, just like a dream.

'Ouch!" Susan shouted when the pinch hurt her.
