Chapter 4 - Moving for her

It was while sitting in the car that she slumped over the steering wheel and cried, the emotions she had held back for so long finally bursting forth.

She hammered the steering wheel, her heart a million times over. Tears blurred her vision as she pushed the accelerator to the floor and charged forward regardless.

Alice hated, hated why he didn't like himself but still tortured himself. It was only because of Kathy, but it had never been about her.

He didn't like her, yet he gave her the illusion of warmth.

The tears she had held back for so long now burst, her vision was blurred, and she wiped them away, her mind full of what had just happened.

She couldn't understand why twenty years of love was no match for that one misunderstanding. She loved Tony, and that love had given her all the light and all the pain.

For the past two years, she had come over like this, habitually venting her emotions before hiding them, turning into another person who was unfazed by changes and made herself a stranger too.

The car was parked downstairs, looking at the car parked in front of her, her pace stalled for a moment, and after a while she returned to her usual appearance and entered the door.

The lights in the living room were on, and as soon as I walked past the foyer I saw someone sitting on the sofa, Alice went straight over and called out respectfully, "Mom."

The middle-aged woman turned her head and asked leisurely, "Where is Tony?"

"He's at the other house." Alice said truthfully.

The woman frowned as someone came out of the room upstairs, and Alice looked up and called out, "Dad."

The middle-aged man sank his face and said angrily, "Don't call me Dad, you can't even keep an eye on a man, what else can you do!"

Alice bowed his head and did not reply.

"Useless." He continued with a soft grunt, coming down the stairs and looking at her with deep brows, "You should never have married her in the first place, if it wasn't for Cathy, you would be where you are today."

She secretly clenched her fists, her face still looking breezy. Mr. Smithgave her a contemptuous look and asked again, "How is Tony these days? I heard that you have taken another project for him."

……

Alice answered, "Yes. It's a project of Nicole, and tomorrow Tony will look over it."

Alice's mother suddenly came over, took her hand and smiled gently, and said kindly, "my sweetie, don't take it personally with your father. He's just like that, don't take it personally. As for you and Tony, I trust you."

Alice's father was about to retort, but she shot him back with a look, so he could only hold his breath and walk away.

The latter rambled on for a few more words, and as she was leaving, Alice's mother suddenly said in a serious tone, "There are times when the best way to catch a man is to give him a child; Tony is young and vigorous, and you are in your prime, so it's better to have a child while the time is right."

She nodded with a soft smile and watched them leave.

After the car drove away, the smile on her face quickly disappeared, as if nothing had ever happened.

The coffee table and sofa were tidied up and she went back into the bathroom to scrub herself clean before coming out.

She was halfway through her sleep when there was a sudden muffled thud from below and she woke from her slumber with a start, her head completely clearing as she looked at the person leaning in the doorway.

"You're back." She asked out loud. Then rising from the bed again, she said calmly, "I'll go and clean up the guest room for you."

From the beginning to the end, she didn't say another word.

Silently, he got his pajamas out and made his bed. When he turned around, he saw Tony standing behind him, and he was shocked for a moment, but there was no expression on his face.

"The bed has already been tidied up."

"You're really good at pretending." He suddenly spoke sarcastically, a cold smile hanging from the corner of his mouth as he looked disdainfully at the person in front of him, "Who are you putting on a show all day for."

Alice didn't say anything, but he came over, his thumb moving over her lips, his tone steeped in tenderness, his gaze carefully measuring her eyebrows, "If you acted more realistically, maybe I would really fall in love with you."

She took a step back and Tony took a step forward, looking at the colour of her scarlet lips, he finally couldn't resist pressing up.

The kiss, softer and sweeter than he had thought, seemed like never enough. The person in his arms was also so small that he could have swept her up in his arms with just one hand.

Looking at her stunned gaze, Tony's eyes flashed with a smile, and when he left, he couldn't help but touch his own lips. The softness and sweetness still lingered on his lips, only for the person in front of him to suddenly blush.

She lifted her head and blushed for half a day before she managed to get out two words, "Shameless!"

Then she pushed him away with force and fled the place like a shy little child. Tony froze for a moment, and then unconsciously smiled.

Only half a moment later, the smile on his face froze. A fire seemed to burn under his belly, and his face turned extremely ugly, how could he move for her!
