CHAPTER 5
Dawn came and Tony, Alan and Bruce were all packed ready to leave. Tony had to call Stanley to inform him about his leaving town, so he quickly slipped away to go make the call so that Alan wouldn't know about it. The phone rang and Stanley immediately picked up 'Hey Bruce" he said from the other end of the line, 'hey Stan, no time to chat, I'll be leaving town for a while or maybe forever till the trouble blows over, I'm sure you know the trouble I speak of, stay safe." Bruce responded immediately and ended the call when he sensed Alan getting closer. 'Who was that you were on the phone with" Alan asked, 'it was no one brother" Bruce lied immediately covering up his tracks. 'Better not be telling anyone about us" Alan said leaving his presence and going to his room.
Alan slammed the door of his room, immediately brought out his phone and dialed a number… Alan was lost in his phone call that he didn't hear Bruce's footsteps approaching him, 'who are you talking to?" Bruce asked catching Alan off guard. 'It's no one, mind your business and get ready" Alan said brushing him off his trail. Bruce just stared at Alan and they both stood there waiting for Tony.
Finally, the trio were set to leave now all they had to do was to decide the city they were leaving to. Alan being the eldest suggested they go to a very quiet and low key city such as Birmingham in London, but his brothers didn't agree to this for they weren't ready to go into hiding again, they wanted to see the world, have a lot of ladies at their command, feed on humans and make some more vampires rather than laying low. But only Alan knew what was at stake if they were to be found by their uncle anytime soon.
'So where would you like to go?" Alan asked both Bruce and Tony.
'New York" they both chorused simultaneously.
'Are you for real? Do you know how dangerous that would be? Leaving a small city to an even bigger one instead of laying low" Alan said with disappointment scattered all over the tone of his voice.
'Brother, come to think of it; moving to New York is much better because it's a big city filled with a ton of people, which means we can't be easily found" Bruce said, while tony just nodded in agreement.
'Fine! New York it is" Alan said, but still sounding unsure about it.
After much deliberation he finally gave in and they decided on New York City.
The trio made their way to the door with their luggage in their hands, Alan stuck his head out the door to check if anyone was out there; they were trying to avoid being seen by anyone in the neighborhood that's why they went through all the trouble of waking up so early. 'No one is here, the coast is clear" Alan said, signaling his brothers to make a move for the door. When they were all out Alan locked the door behind them slipping the key under the little carpet rug which laid at the front of their door and made his way down the stairs to meet his brothers outside. Off they went, they were out of the house and on their flight to New York.
Back at their old house, it was morning already, the trio had evacuated the premises unnoticed by any one. The neighboring flat which was filled with girls who had a crush on Tony noticed that it had been quiet in their apartment for the past three hours so one of the girls decided to drop by to say 'HI" to Tony.
She walked to the front of their door knocking hard to get his attention, she stood after knocking about three times without getting a response, she immediately tried opening the door but it was locked. Her friends eventually came to join her at the front of their door taking turns to knock and say their names hoping that would make him let them in, but still there was no response from the other side of the door.
'Where could they be?" the first girl asked her friends.
'Maybe they stepped out to get away from you" One of her friends replied her mockingly.
'Or probably it was to get away from your ugly little alarming face" she quickly retorted back.
'Can you two shut up!" another girl said to stop their bickering.
'She started it" they both chorused acting childish.
'So they left early eh! It must be really important then, we'll get them when they come back" the first girl said and they all turned to leave.
'Ouch! I just stepped on something sharp" one of the girls said groaning in pain and holding her foot. 'Check under the rug" the girl who seemed like the head of the crew immediately ordered. They raised the rug and found under it the key to their apartment, 'why would they leave their key? They had never left their key behind before" the girl said to her friends. They all had confusion written all over their faces.
The leader of the girls snatched the key from the other girl, sliding it into the keyhole and twisting it to open the door, when she did she pushed the door open, walked in, while her other girls followed behind her. As soon as they were all in the room they shut the door behind them; their plan was to wait in their apartment for the three brothers to return.
'They're gone" one of the girls screamed from the room. Within seconds all the other girls left the living room and joined her in the room which happened to be Tony's room, 'His clothes are gone, everything is gone" she continued. 'Check the other rooms" the leader ordered and immediately two girls went to the two rooms of Alan and Bruce and came back with the same report of their clothes being missing.
'Did they move out because of us?" they began to question one another.
A knock came from the door, and this scared the girls. Who could that be I thought they had moved away who could it be at the door now they wondered.
They walked slowly to the door with their leader upfront as she jiggled the door handle opening the door, seeing what she didn't expect.
