Chapter 1
Chapter 1
The light of dawn seeped into her room and woke her up she stretched her hand and felt the cool morning breeze. She then walked towards the window and opened the cotton.
'Good morning neighbors!" shouted with a cute smile on her face.
She was so excited for the day ahead. She immediately ran to get her tooth brush, brushed her teeth, then went to the bathroom to take her bath. After taking her bath she went to her closet picked the new pair of skirt and white shirt she got as for herself from her last pay.
'Yes I think I should wear this since I haven't worn it before, it's look good on me and it's suit my skin" said as she checked herself in the mirror adjusting her shirt.
She checked the time on the wrist watched in her hand and realized that she had little time left so immediately ran out of the house to the bus station. When she got to the bus station she dipped her hand inside her bag and realized her phone was not there.
'Oh no, oh no, my phone!" She said with a disappointing look on her face.
She checked the time on her watch and realized their was little time left so she immediately ran back home to get her phone.
'If I miss this appointment I will never forgive you this phone" said to herself as she ran home to get her phone.
When she got home she saw the phone laying on her bed, she picked it up and ran back to the bus station. As she got to the bus station she was breathing really hard because she ran really fast so that she can catch up with the next bus.
'Wait please don't go!" shouted as she ran to catch up with the bus. She was finally able to get the bus, she was completely exhausted at this point. She got to the bus and didn't see and sit again.
She couldn't believe she'll still have to stand and wait till someone sitting finally gets off the bus.
She wanted to check her phone if there was any mail from the company but there was a gallop and the bus shakes. Everyone standing almost fell down some even fell.
Linda did not fall but her phone fell off her hand. A young man was nice enough to pick the phone for her.
'Thank you." She said to him with a smile on her face and collected the phone. She noticed the screen was blank so she couldn't check if there was any mail again.
She waited patiently on the bus until she finally got to her stop. She got out of the bus and tried turning on her phone.
Linda was happy to see her phone finally turn on, she sighed of relieve and looked at the company a soft smile escaped her lips.
She looked at her dress and she noticed she looked a little too rough because of the stress she faced on her way to the company.
She tried adjusting her dress, after some minutes of hesitating outside she finally walked inside the company. When she got to the company she stood at the counter with a smile on her face.
'How may I help you ma'am?" The lady asked Linda, from the way the lady is dressed she looks like the receptionist.
'I'm here to see the Human Resources manager." Linda said to the receptionist excitedly, the receptionist gave Linda an irritated glare.
When Linda noticed this she felt bad, but ok a second thought she felt she'll soon be a part of the company and her position will be better than the receptionist position, then she can punish her for giving her such glare.
'Did you book an appointment with her?" The receptionist asked her reluctantly. Linda was slowly getting frustrated, she was only trying her best not to do anything stupid. At least let her get her job first.
Linda faked a smile immediately and turned to look at the receptionist.
'No, I'm here to see if I got the job." Linda said to the receptionist. She felt sad because she knew that the receptionist already knew why she was there.
'Well, sorry you didn't get the job." The receptionist said to Linda in a sarcastic manner.
Linda could not believe what the receptionist had said to her, she had a few seconds of silence as she was deeply in thought. Then she suddenly remembered that there was no how a receptionist would know if she had gotten the job or not.
'What is wrong with you? Why are you acting like you are the devil that was sent to make me loose this time." Linda yelled at the receptionist, she didn't notice she was loud until people started turning to see what's going on at the counter.
The receptionist was shy and it was obvious on her face, Linda wished the ground could open and just take her in for a moment.
She bit her shyly.
'It's fine, let me head you to her office." The receptionist said to Linda faking a kindness all of a sudden.
Linda lowered her head and followed the receptionist, while they were passing people couldn't stop staring at them while murmuring. They both walked fast until they couldn't see those murmuring again.
They got to the front of the Human Resources manger office.
'Wait here I'll be out soon." The receptionist said to Linda. Linda nodded her head and the receptionist walked into the office. Linda looked around and tried to figure out where her office will be.
This is the first job she'll get after so many disappointments from other companies.
A few minutes after the receptionist entered the office she finally got out, Linda stood up from where she was sitting. She looked at the receptionist waiting to see if the receptionist will tell her to go in.
'You can go in now." The receptionist was shocked to see that before she could finish talking Linda had already walked in.
She hissed and walked away.
'Not like she'll get the job." The secretary said to herself while walking away.
'Good day Ma." Linda said to the lady in front of her. The lady was busy with her system so she did not reply Linda. Linda did not bother to greet again she just waited patiently for the lady to have her time.
While she was waiting she couldn't stop looking around the office, she started imagining herself in the room and sitting on the seat of the Human Resources Manager.
'How may I help you!" The Human Resources Manager shouted after talking to her calmly but she was not replying. The angry loud voice of the Human Resources Manager made her snap out of her thoughts immediately.
Gwen cleared her throat immediately, she knew she fucked up already.
'I am here for the job I applied for." The lady paused what she was doing and looked at Linda. Linda was smiling very bright she still cannot believe she will finally get a job.
'What job did you apply for?" The lady asked Linda in a strict tone. Linda noticed everyone in the company seemed really strict.
She frowned her face and looked at the lady who did not even mind her, she was too into her work.
'The position of the director's secretary." Linda announced to the lady. Once again the lady paused what she was doing and gave Linda a weird glare.
'What is it this time?" Linda asked herself when she saw the look on the lady's face.
'Why are you here?" The lady asked Linda again. Linda folded her palm angrily she wished she could tell the lady what's on her mind. She tried to control herself so she won't do what she'll regret.
'I just told you my reason." Linda insisted to the lady. The lady did not act as if she is the one Linda was talking to.
'Did you receive any mail from us?" The lady asked Linda. Linda smiled and was about to say no when she remembered she did not check it earlier because her phone fell off in the bus.
'Ohh I didn't check." Linda said to herself and started searching for her phone in her bag. She finally found her phone and brought it out. The lady was so calm waiting for her.
'I didn't get any mail, I checked yesterday." Linda said to the lady before checking her phone. The lady was quiet, Linda phone was blank again she was trying to turn it on.
'I think you need to check your mail again." The lady said to Linda, Linda was getting scare with the way the lady was talking, is it not better the lady just tell her if she got the job or not.
'Finally!" Linda shouted when her phone turned on, the lady raised her eye to look at Linda, when Linda noticed she immediately comported herself.
She immediately checked if there is any mail from the company. She started scrolling through new mails, she raised her eye to look at the lady.
She paused when she finally saw the mail from the company. Linda could feel her heart beat faster, she remembered the way the receptionist told her she didn't get the job.
'Could what the receptionist said be true?" Linda asked herself when she saw the look on the lady's face.
'Have you seen the mail?" The lady paused what she was doing and turned to look at Linda. She saw how Linda was staring at her and she was already feeling uncomfortable about it so she had to ask her.
'No I haven't, I'll check now." Linda said to the lady. Linda could hear the sound of her heart beat at this point, she was wondering what the mail is for.
'Oh my God!" Linda shouted when she read what the email contained
