Direct Confrontation

Direct Confrontation

Tom stared at the hordes of werewolves that filled the forest courtyard from the window of his house. a crooked smile tugged at his lips as his eyes shone with strong dislike. How cold he is tonight, who does not know? Winter is coming, so the temperature is dropping. Was it good for him to look up in the middle of the forest when it was so cold? Tom doesn't understand, for him, all of this is just bullshit.

Some time ago a human guardian inspected each residence to see if any recalcitrant werewolves had not yet gathered to welcome the thousandth lunar eclipse. One of them, of course, Tom himself, could be the only one. Maybe they knew they would find the young man who was famous for being stubborn, so they went to his house after they had finished touring the whole house.

Generally, werewolves are always afraid of guards who seem fierce and rough. But, Tom is different. In his eyes, the royal guards who are said to be trained are just Arcyl's minions, the leader of the Megana Kingdom. Tom isn't afraid of Arcyl at all, so why is he afraid of his men?

As a result, the guards left without success, leaving Tom alone. Otherwise, a bloody fight might ensue. They did not forget Arcyl's reminder, the Royal Leader, not to resort to violence or bloodshed on this extraordinary day.

It didn't take long for the guest that Tom had been waiting for to appear, Arcyl finally came to meet him. Tom looked at the well-built man with a red robe fluttering every time he took a step with a look that was not friendly at all. “What is the noble Lord Arcyl here for?” asked he didn't hide the cynicism in his voice.

Arcyl tried to hold back his emotions. If he could do what he wanted, right now he would have slammed Tom, the young werewolf who always challenged him, to the floor and beat him to the punch, scratched and bit him, making him unable to even move a finger, as expected he did it to challenge him to get the crown of leadership which is now in the hands of him. “What other fuss were you making just now?”

Just now, when Arcyl was about to leave for the forest courtyard, the guards reported Tom who again violated the rules set in the kingdom. He forbade all the guards to join and only brought two people, letting the rest of the priests gather in the forest courtyard.

Tom is a werewolf who is over a hundred years old. At such a young age, he has more ideas and a bigger ego than his friends. Arcyl always knew that. But, because of his young age, he can't do whatever he wants, or he will be considered unwise because he fights young people who lack common sense.

"It's not a commotion," replied Tom lightly, slowly he sat in a chair, and looked up at Arcyl with a smile painted on his handsome face. "I just don't want to go there."

“What exactly are you doing? Are you even disobeying the customs and regulations of our royal ancestors now?” asked Arcyl sharply. He couldn't hold back his emotions which were increasingly overflowing especially when he saw Tom's attitude that looked reckless in front of him.

"Don't speak as if I have killed someone here!" Tom got up angrily. "And what did you say? Ancestor? Isn't it enough to enslave us with all the rules, especially hunting that you say is fair, now you also want me to freeze myself on such a cold night like a fool?" Tom's index finger pointed at Arcyl with emotion.

Arcyl growled threateningly as he brushed Tom's hand roughly, causing the young man's hand to bleed from his claws. “Watch your attitude or you will know the consequences!” threaten him full of intimidation. “This is what the ancestors did long ago, and all werewolves without exception, including you, must follow it! Everyone must absorb the light of the thousandth lunar eclipse!” he emphasized every word right in Tom's face. Even though I know it's useless. Tom has been called the toughest head of the last thousand years for no reason.

Tom laughed the next second. He raised an eyebrow, then asked Arcyl in a laughing tone, “Are you serious? Does that make sense, O Lord of the Kingdom of Megana?" He didn't think the moonlight was more important than his health.

"Tom, don't cross the line!" Arcyl reminded between his growls.

“What do you mean by limit? The limit of your emotions, The Royal Leader, whose every order must be obeyed, even if you want to snatch prey from other werewolves?” asked Tom At length with a disdainful face. He had heard what happened to Nathaniel and it made the emotions and sense of injustice that were buried in his chest explode.

Arcyl straightened his body and then rearranged his robe which was less neat due to his aggressive movements. he laughed and looked back at Tom as if he were a child. “So that's why you're making this fuss? Because of the white fox fur, I asked your friend Nathaniel?” he rubbed Tom's shoulder firmly, before being avoided by the young man roughly. "Okay. I'll return the feather to Nathaniel, then you'll stop acting and head out into the forest with me and the others!”

“Not only this time! How many times have you done arbitrary things just because you are a royal leader? Isn't that embarrassing?” Tom laughed mockingly.

"God damn it!" Arcyil pulled Tom's collar aggressively. “Who do you think you are to say that to me, huh? Shut your insolent mouth, or…”

"Or what? I will tell you all the arbitrary things you did to the other werewolves!” Tom glared at Arcyl, smiling as if he had gotten an ace.

Arcyl released Tom's collar, stepped back, then smiled broadly at the young man in front of him. “Well, do whatever you want. Indeed, who will believe you? And I have the guards by my side!” A crooked smile tugged at his lips.

Tom clenched his fists while growling because of mounting emotions. There's nothing he can think about other than wanting him to hit the man in front of him. As his fist flew out, ready to strike the man in front of him, a familiar female voice stopped him.

"Stop it, Tom!" Regina, Tom's mother, immediately emerged from the door and approached the only son. He grabbed his son's flying fist, threatening Arcyl, the Leader of the Megana Kingdom. "What are you doing?" He wanted to rebuke and scold Him's only very stubborn son, but, when he saw Arcyl still standing there he discouraged that intention.
