Chapter 6
Theo
I've been walking in circles for half an hour in my office, I've put on a suit when I usually come to work in jeans. Everyone looked at me strangely when I arrived, even Finn made fun of me when he also took out the suit. Luckily, I didn't run into Caleb and knowing him, he's not going to show up around here since he knows she'll be there.
At nine o'clock sharp, there's a knock on the door and I'm going to open it as fast as I can.
She is even more beautiful than yesterday, she is in a red dress that reaches the knees with black pumps. Her long black hair is loose in light curls. She clears her throat and that's when I realize she's busted me for ogling her.
"Please come in," I tell her as I open the door wider to let her through. "I've got everything out on the big table so we can go over it all.
"Perfect." She sits down in a chair and waits for me to join her. It would be more convenient if I sat next to her but I'm not sure she'd take it well.
"Sit next to me, it will be more convenient." She tells me, ending my inner debate.
We are in the middle of the balance sheet when her stomach starts to gurgle. I look at the clock and it's already lunchtime. I did not see the time passed, she wants to peel everything and she asks so many questions. I think she can do this company some good, no matter what Caleb thinks.
"Do you want to go out to lunch or can I order something?"
"We can have lunch outside, it'll give us a real break... well, if you're up for it." She tells me and her cheeks flush a little.
In town, many people look at us curiously but she walks straight ahead, full of confidence. While we both know what people must think. She's the poor girl whose pictures got everywhere, what is she doing here? But she doesn't seem to mind. I take her to a small Italian restaurant and we sit on the terrace. We start to have lunch and I try to start a conversation.
"So what are you doing in New York?"
"Didn't you Google me?" She asks me with a raised eyebrow as she takes a bite of ravioli.
"I did but I wanted you to tell me a little bit about how you got here."
"Well, my uncle Arthur had a close protection company, werewolves paid to protect humans. I didn't want to go to school when I came to him, he respected my wishes. I graduated a year later and went to college in computer science and wanted to go further than he had done. We became partners and little by little Arthur got out of the business cashing in only his shares and leaving me to manage. Now you know everything."
"Wow, that's impressive."
"Thanks."
"And Matthew Callahan, when does he get involved in your story?" I ask her too curious to know who he is to her.
She looks at me with a smirk and takes a sip of water.
"Why? Do you care?"
"Yes, I do care and I would like to know who he is to you," I answer honestly, not knowing what reaction she'll get.
"He's my lawyer." She answers me by leaning back in her chair and crossing her arms. "You want to know if we're fucking, Theo?" She looks at me with a spark of je ne sais quoi in her eyes.
I nod and suddenly find myself cramped in my pants.
She slowly leans over the table and whispers to me. "We fuck sometimes, yes. Even a bunch of times." She settles back into her chair properly and asks me as if she hadn't just told me she was fucking her lawyer. "Should we order dessert? I feel like chocolate."

Did I know if Theo would get a hard-on after my revelation? Yes. Did it feel good to see him uncomfortable? Yes. Did he have a hard time hiding his impressive boner when he stood up? Yes.
Who could believe that a big guy like him could be so uncomfortable around me? When we got back to his office, I tried to touch him as much as possible all afternoon, but playing this little game, my fingers were going to have to satisfy me tonight. To say that I was never attracted to Theo would be a lie, but would I be ready to act with him without thinking about what he did to me? Nothing is less sure.
Back at Griffin's house, I am alone, he had warned me that he was going to spend the evening with colleagues. I hardly have time to remove my shoes when there is a knock at the door. I discover Caleb when I open the door, he pushes it more and enters without being invited. He slams it behind him.
"What the hell are you doing here? I want the real reason." He asks, pointing his index finger at me.
He takes a step forward and I take a step back. "Get out of this house, right now!"
"You're going to tell me what you're doing here and now!"
"I'm coming to get my due asshole!" I yell at him. "The house, the business, everything! Everything your father took from me."
"My father? You're sick my poor girl. My father didn't take anything from you."
"The business was in my family for years. Your father made buyout offers to my father for years but he wouldn't sell."
"What are you implying? That my father killed yours?" He asks me angrily.
I walk over and press my index finger to his chest. "Exactly and I intend to prove it."
He grabs my wrist and squeezes it hard enough to leave a mark on it. "Do us all a favor and go back where you came from. No one wants you here!"
I cling to him and feel his erection against my stomach. "Oh yeah?"
He lets go of my wrist and steps back. "Be careful what you do next. Whether my body reacts to your tits or your little ass won't save you."
He leaves the house and I lock it after him.
If he thinks he can intimidate me like that, he's wrong. Finally, getting closer to Theo might not be such a bad idea.
That night I went to bed early after talking with Matt. We talked about Theo and he thinks he's jealous and interested in me. At the end of the day, I don't know if it makes a difference because I have to keep my eyes on the goal and not in the rearview mirror.
