Chapter five

The strange man and I walked down the street for a few minutes in silence, his grip on my arm was firm. I knew that I needed to escape, but I didn't know how to. He had a gun, he was bigger than I am, and this wasn't any sane city. It was a city made up of predominantly mafia gangsters. I kept calm and did as he said, but my mind was not calm.

My thoughts wandered, my eyes scanned the surrounding, and my brain ticked like a clock.

"Thank you for accepting to come with me, Camilla." The man finally said, after we made a sharp turn that led farther away from the hotel, and was headed for a valley; sloppy area.

I said nothing. A few minutes ago, he threatened me with a gun. And now, he was thanking me for coming with him?

"I'm sorry I had to tell lies to bring you out of the hotel, but I knew that if I had said the truth, neither the security nor you would give me a chance. And I need you for something very urgent. I promise you, that the both of us would be glad if it worked out."

I still said nothing. I looked up at him, my wrist was beginning to sweat, he had held it for so long. He let go of my wrist and clung to my palm instead. In the manner that lovers do. We kept walking.

"Aren't you gonna say something?" He looked down at me, a frown on his face.

I sighed and kept trudging my feet ahead.

"Camilla, why are you giving me such attitude?" He stopped walking and turned to face me so that we were standing opposite of each other.

"What do you want with me?" I finally said, my voice coarse from anger. "You lied to me, sir. You told me that you wanted to help me, and then you brought me out here and threatened me to walk with you to a place I know nothing about, or else you would shoot me? We are headed to a place I know nothing about, and you expect me to grin from ear to ear?"

He smiled, and let go of my hand. "Oh, dear. Cammie, I'm sorry I had to lie to bring you out here. But... What I want isn't much." He paused and stared at me for a few seconds. Licked his lips, and continued speaking. "I need a bite from the 'national cake' "

"What cake?" I was in utter confusion.

"Don't act so ignorantly bebe," He grinned. "I want what your father has been enjoying alone."

If I was procession what he was trying to say correctly, then he meant he wanted to have an affair with me. Did he take me for some sort of harlot, or community girl?

Tears shone in my eyes, I struggled to fight them back. I struggled to resist the urges of fighting him. I would be unable to win him in a fight, so I didn't try.

"I just want to enjoy you for today." He winked at me and laughed. "All I need is your cooperation. What do I owe you for this?" He stopped talking, and looked at me for an answer, I said nothing.

"It's nothing you can't afford." I finally said. Let's get going.

I walked side by side with him, farther down the valley. Green vegetation on both sides, the road wasn't tarred, it had multiple portholes, and made me want to trip many times.

I needed to think of a way out, crying would solve nothing. Neither would running. There had to be another way out, a way that I'd make it out of his clues without any damage.

"It's a few minutes before we get to my place." He announced.

"That's nice," I was unable to think of a response, I simply told him that I thought it was nice.

"Cammie. My house is nothing like your father's. It's a little building, with poor furnishing and I don't stay in it alone, I stay with my friends. I do hope you can manage."

"My father's house isn't so big either, I can manage anything you have. Let's get there, already. I'm tired of walking." I sighed in false exhaustion, I was yet to think of a way to escape. If he didn't have a gun with him, I doubt he would be able to catch up with me in a race. But he had a gun, and I wasn't going to risk it. Instead of doing things to upset him, I played along with him.

"Alright, there it is." He pointed to a little bungalow at the foot of the hill.

"It's not so bad," I smiled. I was visibly shaken, I was yet to think of a way out.

He inserted the key into the door hole and pushed the door open. Then stepped in head first. "No one is home, how lucky are we?" He giggled.

"Come on in."
