Part 2. Three Alpha Mates

When Ava regained consciousness, the first thing she registered was a pounding headache and a shiver down his spine. It took her a few blinks to recover proper sight before noticing the unfamiliar surroundings. Her mouth pushed in a firm line, trying to make sense.

Warm rays were hitting the side of her body, making Ava blinked against the sudden brightness streaming through a French window. Did she die? That cannot be it. Her body was still throbbing from exhaustion and lack of proper nutrition.

Her eyes caught the sight of a window. Fisting the sheets in between her hands, the omega noticed she was in a room with cream coloured walls, laying in a soft bed for a change.

The omega gawked, mouth parting in shock as she tried to take it all. A vast, lone bed she was sitting on, a tiny drawer table beside her with a water jug. Few abstract paintings were hung on the wall as well.

Nothing else stood out to her. Only two windows on the walls and a small couch pushed against one of them.

Something was off.

Morning haziness be damned; she sat up and tried to get out of bed only to hiss at the pain shooting through her temples. Ava slumped against the headboard. Maybe after a minute or two, she will try to get off.

Where am I? She wondered, has another pack captured me? The thought caused a chill to run down her spine. If that's the case, then she may never be able to go back. A gasp escaped her lips at that, hand slapping against her mouth.

Just then, she remembered her last memory. The omega had been being rescued by an Alpha, a tall and handsome one at that. He also happened to be her mate. Her stomach swirled at the thought of being claimed by the person she didn't even know.

Ava reached up to gingerly touch her neck and let out a sigh when there was no bite mark. For a second, she worried that the Alpha might have already claimed her. Maybe she got lucky, and he still thinks of her as a beta. The Omega felt her heart race. The thought of being claimed and held prisoner made her heart drop to the tummy. Panic started to flood her brain, and she looked towards the door.

"Hello? Please!"

"Anyone there?" She tried again but received no answer. Did they leave her all alone?

Ava refused to cry even though tears flooded his eyes. She had to be strong, and the second the omega got the chance, she was busting out of here and searching for a way to go home, no matter what lengths she had to go through. Few agonising minutes later, there was some movement around her.

Finally, she thought under her breath.

The sound of a door opening had the young woman anxious. Loud clicking heels against the tile flooring echoed against the walls, and soon a very attractive woman was standing in front of her. She was a beta female, Ava could smell, was a bit on the short side and had on a floral sundress, and her hair was tied in a bun.

The girl, who could not have been older than eighteen years old, gave her a polite smile and pulled out a chair closer to the bed. "Oh, you are awake. How are you feeling?"

Ava was confused. Had she not been taken by that handsome Alpha? Or perhaps the larger pack took her away from that Alpha?

"Who are you?" The omega asked, folding her hands together in her lap. It caused her to cough, throat hoarse from all that screaming earlier. The beta immediately handed her a glass of water, patting her back while Ava hastily gulped the liquid.

She hadn't realised how thirsty her human body indeed was. Back in the forest, she mainly consumed food in the wolf form and didn't bother finding the lake. Mostly in fear of being spotted by other Pack wolves.

"Do you need some more water?"

Ava licked her chapped lips. "No, thank you."

"Okay," The beta smiled, resuming her position before boring her stare into Ava. "I am Rayly, working in the pack clinic. My brother rescued you from the forest a few hours ago. He told me you lost your consciousness."

"You're a pack doctor?"

The beta female blushed. "No. I am training to be a pack doctor. Still in school. Our pack doctor is busy with other patients."

"Oh", Ava bobbed her head. She was feeling dirty sitting in front of her. The omega was hungry and needed a shower, a long hot one preferably. "What is this place? Where am I?"

"This is a clinic room. Do not worry; you are safe out here. A few miles from here is our packhouse."

So she's right. That Alpha belonged to a pack, and he bought her there. Of course, he did. The moment she saw him, the omega got the sense that he's a Pack member.

"How are you feeling? You are severely dehydrated, and that's why you fainted. I asked our housekeeper to make fresh orange juice and add some glucose. Once you drink that, you'll feel better."

"Uh, thanks... I guess?" She chewed on her lips, overwhelmed with the generosity. The omega had so many questions starting with her brother and if the Alpha identified her. She hoped not.

"You are welcome. Why don't you rest for a while? I will come to check up on you during lunchtime. Sounds good?"

"Y-Yes"

Her eyes immediately flew open when there's a knock on the door. Rayly put an assuring hand on top of hers, motioning the person on the other side to come in. The omega hesitated at first, but peeked towards the door, inhaling the sharp, familiar scent. Her heart began thumping loudly, catching the sight of the Alpha rushing in.

Her mate.

She swallowed the lump in her throat as the scent got intense. Just then, the omega noticed another figure behind him. A frown settled over her features as another Alpha entered the room. Her breath hitched in her throat, the tingling sensation spreading all over her body as she was hit by the strong scent.

The other Alpha was the definition of flawless. He had short brown hair compared to the one who saved her. His stormy grey eyes were soft and warm, boring into hers as they both started inching closer to the bed.

Another mate? The word rang in her ears, making her cheeks flush. Triads were common in packs due to decreasing omega population. Ava didn't think that she would also be going through that.

The omega had to fight against the impulse to drop to her knees in the mere presence of the two powerful creature, and it was making her incredibly woozy to do so. Ava has never had this kind of reaction to an Alpha before, and she was helpless to do anything but swoon at the impressive sight in front of her.

"Dante!" Rayly scandalously gasped, turning around to face her brother. "What are you doing here? I told you to stay away from the clinic."

Oh. So the one who saved her was called Dante. The omega rolled the name in between her lips, blushing to herself. It was such a beautiful name for an Alpha.

Dante let out a short laugh, the smooth, rich laughter like a music to her ears. The Alphas eyes crinkled by his eyes, laughing lines forming on his forehead. She shivered, gripping the sheets until her knuckles turned white. How can a laugh be so endearing?

"Ares here wanted to see this mysterious beta I rescued"

Ava's eyes immediately snapped to the Alpha standing beside Dante, his mouth agape. He shrugged. Ares. Did they both have to be named so Greek? Then again their beauty matched their names.

Then it clicked her that Dante referred to her as a beta. Not an omega. It was clear that the Alpha did not have the faintest of idea about her status.

A relieved sigh escaped her lips. She was panicking for no reason.

Before any of them could utter a word, the door was swung open with an audible slap, and someone else entered the room. Ava bit back a whine threatening to escape her lips. Another Alpha, in all his ethereal glory, was suddenly right in front of her. And he was furious.

"Zach?" Someone gasped his name.

Her omega bowed her head in fear as soon as their eyes met. Alpha Zach passed over her without even a hint of interest. She couldn't help feeling the sharp sting of rejection, and she had to battle the worsening urge to drop to and grovel for the Alpha's undivided attention.

Thankfully controlling herself, Ava settled to watch silently while as Zachs unblinking gaze locked onto Dante. He straightened and crossed the floor in three-wide and graceful steps, stopping just in front of Dante and Ares.

Time seemed to stand still again as all of them sucked a sharp breath, anxiously waiting for whatever Zach would do.
