Honey moon trip

LYNETTE

'I think you must not be in my right mind to have called Leone at that point, without even wondering what he would be able to do for you,' I scolded myself in the corner where I sat and dropped my phone inside my pocket, after I had just told Leone that I was stuck at a coffee shop. I should be getting him away from me, not trying to get him to help me.

But the moment I saw the figure of a person appear before me, I was still in doubt that it could be him because I didn't believe that it could be him. When he called my name to know if I was the one that was sitting before him, all I could do was smile because I was so relieved that he came.

I thanked the counter lady who told me her name was Angela, and left with Leone who brought an extra raincoat for me too. By the time we got into the car, I was running a fever already and I knew that it was going to be so bad because of how I was feeling.

We got back home after he tried to drive through the relentless rain, and I couldn't feel my breath anymore by the time I got home. I had been hiding the bad state of my health for a long time before we arrived in California, because we had no money to pay for hospital bills alongside the others that we had to pay for.

In no time, the maids helped me back into my room after we arrived at the mansion, and a doctor came shortly to treat me. I drifted into a deep sleep afterward and woke up the next morning feeling all better.

Mum and her husband came to check up on me before leaving together, and Isabella spent most of her day with me telling me so many stories about her school.

It was a little disappointing to not see Leone around the entire day, but I didn't mind because I had another person to keep me company. When she discovered the things that I got for her, she was all over me with kisses and hugs which made me feel even better.

I was stuck in bed throughout the day because I was still so weak, but I knew I had to get better before the next day, which was going to be Mum's wedding.

She came to see me before the day ended and she lamented that she couldn't afford to see me in a terrible state on her wedding day. She also talked non stop about my hair that got ruined by the rain.

I didn't want to disappoint her by being bedridden on her good day, so I had to act like I was free of my illness especially when the doctor came around.

The next morning that I was meant to be getting Mum ready for her wedding, I was the one the maids were getting ready so that I would not end up arriving at the wedding ground late, since I woke up hours after everyone had left.

I was just in time to arrive at the wedding grounds, and the first thing I got was my makeup in the makeover room at the resort.

By the time I entered the dressing room to change into the bridesmaid's dress, someone entered after I did, taking me aback, and it turned out to be Leone. He however did the unexpected.

It was getting harder while trying to get him off the topic about our past, and he was trying to make me bend my will for us. I was trying to push him away in every way that I could, but he was relentlessly stubborn about not giving up.

I felt oxygen leave every necessary part of my body when he grabbed my waist, as my lips quivered in fear and my heart beat so fast. My body was sandwiched between the cold wall and the rock-hard body of my stepbrother, staring at me with gleaming eyes that were causing crawling effects on my body.

I yelled that I had no feelings for him when I realized that he was trying to get the truth out of me, and he said the most unexpected thing just when I thought that I had discouraged him.

"I do not care if you don't like me anymore. I'll have to try even harder. You don't have feelings for me?" He cocked his head while still holding my body to the wall, as a malicious grin stretched across his lips. "Then I'll just have to make you fall for me," he declared, and my eyes widened in shock.

'What the heck? Just why was he doing this to me?'

After a few minutes elapsed, I tore my gaze away from his, and a weary sigh escaped my lips. I knew that it was useless fighting against Leone, because his mind seemed so made up to get to my weakness. And I knew that if he tried a little more, I could falter at the expense of my mental health.

He left shortly afterwards, and the effect of his words and touch still had lingering effects on me, as I changed my dress and put on my heels.

I was in time to join the couple for our new family picture, and I offered to be with Isabella till the wedding ended so that Leone would stay off. However, I didn't see him after we took pictures till the wedding feast ended.

Mr. Russo and Mum had gotten officially married and everything ended up well, and I had also gotten a new and wealthy family as a plus. But, the untold trouble laid between me and Leone, with our past that he was trying to dig up. It bothered me so much.

There was a celebration in the mansion from the night of the wedding till the next morning, but I couldn't join the fun for long because I was so saddled with my thoughts. It was barely a week in a new family, and yet, I felt like things would get messy very soon.

Isabella's school was on holiday, so that meant that she was stuck with us for about two weeks before starting a new session in school. And it was probably going to be the hardest of everything; As much as kids were fun, they were the most troublesome.

Me and Leone didn't talk about what happened at the dressing room when we met the next day, and we all had breakfast like a normal family at the dining table with Isabella chattering endlessly. The doctor came around to give me and Isabella our medications, and I knew that I was doing better in health than the previous day.

I dressed up afterward in casual clothes to visit the coffee shop I was at days ago, to express my gratitude to Angela, the counter lady that helped me so selflessly. It was to get myself out of the mansion too.

"I'm so grateful for your help the other day. You are so nice," I thanked the lady that was sitting in front of me, who had a weird look on her face immediately after I said that.

I wondered if it was because I had taken too long to come back, or that I was taking her time just so that I could thank her.

'Which one is it? Which one is it?' I screamed inwardly.

"Am I sounding cringy here?" I found myself asking her, and a modest smile began to creep the corners of her lips which put me at ease instantly.

"I am just surprised you came back to say thank you. Many people never do," she explained with a shrug, and I chuckled when she said that.

"I am so thankful. Your help saved me from a worse situation that could have occurred," I told her honestly.

If she had not helped me change to a dry cloth or offered me hospitality, then I would have not been able to attend Mum's wedding because I wouldn't be as well as I was.

"It is nice that I could help in the little way that I can. It was cooler to see your boyfriend run over here in the rain to pick you up though," she remarked with an amusing smile that revealed her huge gap teeth.

"No. Leone is not my boyfriend. He is my stepbrother. Our parents are married," I corrected her with a chuckle. It probably sounded nice to hear her call him my boyfriend though.

We talked a little more than I expected us to, and it was nice to know that I had made friends with someone who had a good personality.

She was more friendly than I expected that she would be, and even her customer service to people was impressive. I exchanged contacts with her before I left, and I knew that it was going to be fun getting to know her.

Mum was sitting at the dining table when I entered the house and I was informed that dinner was ready, and she was just sitting so silently to eat the food that was served before her.

"Loving this?" I alerted her with my question which made her raise her eyes to meet my face.

"Finally a wife, Lynn. Finally," she grinned brightly as she boasted about her new status.

"So what's next?" I asked nonchalantly as I took the seat opposite her, grabbing a handful of grapes on the table into my mouth as I munched in the delicious fruit. This new life was really good.

"Guess," she smiled.

"Babies?" I teased with a mocking tone, and she let out a loud laugh because it was something that she never planned.

"My honeymoon!" She announced excitedly and I went gloomy immediately, "My husband has booked a flight for both of us to go on a two-week honeymoon trip in Paris!"

'What the fuck? I would be left home alone with Leone for two weeks?'
