Chapter 3

I wake up at six in the morning, take a shower, eat a cheese bread with coffee, which my mother had already left ready for me, and rush back to my room. I get ready and put on a tight black dress, a white blazer over it and black heels, then I go to the bathroom to brush my teeth. I put on some light make-up, marking my eyes with eyeliner and applying a light pink lipstick to my lips. I grab my purse and hurry to the garage. I go with my mother's car, since she won't be going out today, thank goodness.

As soon as the gate opens, I start the car and drive in a hurry to the address they sent me. At ten to seven I arrive at the company, walk through the glass doors and tell the receptionist that I have an interview. She takes me to a room and asks me to wait.

I am alone in this huge room. In the centre of it, there is a table with many chairs around it, I can't even tell how many. The room is well decorated in shades of dark grey. I notice how tidy and clean it all is. I sit down on one of the chairs and peck at the tea the receptionist gave me.

I pick up my mobile phone and see that it's seven o'clock on the dot. Who will be interviewing me? I barely have time to be curious, because soon I hear the door open. A man enters the room stepping firmly and I feel my hands suddenly become shaky, making the tea spill a little on the table. What the fuck, now what?

The man approaches me and stops right in front of me. He has brown hair at the nape of his neck, piercing eyes and has a beautiful mouth, an imposing physique and the way he looks at me leaves me speechless. Wow, is that my interviewer? Will I be able to say anything intelligent to this man while he's giving me that sexy look? Shit, of course not.

  • Ana Caroline? - What kind of hot accent is that? American? Oh my God, he has such a sexy voice. It's thick and husky, making my whole body shiver just for speaking my name. What is it about this man that makes me like this?

  • Eh... That's me all right. Forgive me for the mess, I'll clean it up.

I hurry to look for a cloth or paper in the room, but he quickly extends a handkerchief in my direction. Without grace, I take it and wipe the table, running. Then I fold the handkerchief and return it to him with a shy smile as he watches me from top to bottom. Was he looking at my ass? Men really don't waste time.

  • I'm Cam, the owner of the company. Shall we get started?

What kind of proposition is this, Mr. Cam? You're making me uncomfortable... I wake up from my delirium and come to reality. The owner of the company himself is going to interview me, which means I have to be perfect! I need a job so badly, and I can't take my eyes off him. I have to concentrate!

He pulls the chair out for me and I sit back down. Then he sits down in front of me and looks at me intently.

  • 'Well, Miss Caroline, why are you interested in working here?

I sigh and look away from him for a moment, then say:

  • I'm great at what I do, Sir. I'm a perfectionist in my work and it would be a great pleasure to work for your company, one of the best in this city.

  • Um... are you interested in working for me?

  • Of course I would.

  • I mean just for me, Caroline.

Oh boy, he doesn't say my name like that... I'm blushing, that look in his eyes makes me... I don't even know how he makes me, really. I can't even think straight.

  • Of course, if you're approved, I'll go.

  • Well, you're already hired for me. You start Monday. You'll have a lot of work around here, so enjoy this weekend, as it will be your last days of quiet. With me you will have no rest for a long time. - Your words give me a double meaning and I just nod. - Friday I will call you to arrange lunch and we will clarify how things will work out. Welcome, Caroline.

He says my name in that sexy way and I'm mesmerized. Man, I'm going to go crazy working for him. I reply calmly.

  • Thank you so much, I don't even know how to thank you. Thank you so much, Sir.

  • No problem, I'll walk you out.

Cam opens the door for me and guides me in, lightly holding my forearm. His touch is warm and makes my breathing uneven. In a few minutes this man has stirred all my senses, in ways I could never have imagined. After we reach the exit door, he says:

  • See you Friday, Caroline.

He winks at me and walks away. I soon realise that it's not just me, wherever he goes the women let out a heavy breath. This man has many women at his feet, and just by the way he looked at me I can tell he's going to drive me crazy too.
