Chapter 7

James held Portia gently as they stood in line for tickets.

The theater was too big and there were too many people waiting to get in.

He was too anxious and desperate to get a ticket and get out to the theater, but there were still about 4 people ahead of him and there was nothing they could do to get ahead of him.

"Luke could be here waiting in line for us" He said gruffly.

"But Portia wanted to get in line" Luna said subtly. He looked at her threateningly.

"I just said we could have saved ourselves this annoying line. You could also buy tickets over the phone, or online, but no..."He said angrily. Luna laughed "Did I say something funny?"

"Nothing, James".

The line was going too slow. Luna understood, they had been in line for 20 minutes and he just wanted to get out of the place. Although considering how little they did these activities together, what did it cost him?

From James's reaction, it was understandable that he hadn't been with Portia too long and maybe this was something new to him.

Portia got out of her father's arms and went straight to Luke, who was off to the side standing in line for candy and refreshments. Luna smiled at the sight of him.

"Luke is in the food line" James looked at her.

"Yeah, what's up with that?"

"You wanted me to stand in line for tickets too... how would I do that?"

"I don't know, I could've called Peter to do the food line, and Luke to do the ticket line"

"Who's Peter? "

"A friend. Remind me to ask you" He said looking at the line. There were only two people left.

Portia went back and forth, with Luke and then James...on and on. Occasionally she would lose her patience, but Luna was there to take her down a peg or two.

It was the first day she had worked for him, and she felt like she had known him before. His manner was familiar to her. Obviously, maybe it was because James could be someone nationally known, and maybe that was what made him seem so much like that. Although she still hadn't quite figured out what he worked as.

There was only one person missing. James sighed.

!What's taking so long?" he said aloud.

Portia returned with Luke.

Luna just sighed and waited for her turn to come.

There were a lot of people in the place. A lot of kids, to be exact, teenagers, everything.

She turned to look at him. To be clear, he had nice features, several of which Portia had. He had green eyes, and his lips looked like a heart. He even had the same mole. She looked at him for a few more seconds. Could it be possible?

She knew him.

"Is something wrong?" He asked when he saw Luna's face.

"No".

The last person in line came out, it was her turn.

The young employee gave James a smile and then began to speak.

"Good afternoon, how can I help you?" she said with a smile.

"Is Luke coming?" Luna asked.

"Of course," he replied "will I have to come in too?"

"Of course. Did you think we'd go in alone? James, Portia has complained about the little time you usually spend with her. It would be nice if you could spend more time with her. It would be fun" She exclaimed reluctantly. James blanched. Had she sounded out of place?

"Good," he said curtly " i think you're right".

Luna ordered the tickets and then went to get Portia. It was 20 minutes before the show started.

"Let's get in. I don't want to lose any seats" he said worriedly.

"You won't. Places are not lost"

"It doesn't matter, if we don't get in, Portia will eat everything before the movie starts" He winked.

They walked into the big movie theater and Luna was sure she'd seen James before, or maybe one of his relatives. Would he have siblings?

Luna had moved to Seattle when she was 15, but before that, she'd gone through a top-notch private education. She had studied at the best schools in the country, and had gotten into one of the best schools on the upper east side.

Maybe...no. Could it be?

Yes, she knew him, but did he use another name before?

It didn't matter, but it was strange. Now he wore his hair differently, he was tanner, taller, his face was sleeker and his body was bigger, he was changed. He was an adult.

She might have recognized him from TV or magazines, but no, she didn't watch national channels too much in Seattle, just MTV or movies, anyway.

And of course, Luna dismisses the possibility that he recognized her because she was a different girl all together before. Even though James was older than her, they had overlapped several times. Luna was never called by her first name, there was always some nickname, not necessarily bad ones, and James had never made a big deal of it, so he possibly didn't even know her name.

"Here they are" He said, sitting down. Portia sat next to him, and Luna next to her. Luke sat one row up.

It felt strange to have someone looking out for you, and he had noticed how important and rich James must be to be escorted by security all the time. He was getting used to it, though.

"James, can I ask you a question?"

"Yes?"

"What high school did you attend?"

"Um, Saint Jude, why?"
