Chapter 6: Raging Storm

I couldn't believe what I was seeing. Jake had always been a beta werewolf, and I had never seen him act like this before. His eyes were full of rage, and his claws were bared.

"No, Mabel," Lucas said, stepping forward.

"He's not a monster. He's been bitten by an infected werewolf."

I could feel the blood draining from my face as I realized what this meant. Infected werewolves were a rare breed, but they were also extremely dangerous. Their bites could turn even the most docile of werewolves into bloodthirsty beasts.

"We have to help him," I said, my voice shaking with fear.

Lucas and the other werewolves nodded in agreement, and we all charged forward, trying to subdue Jake. But he was too powerful, and he fought us off with ease. It was like he had supernatural strength, and nothing we did could stop him.

Within a twinkle of an eye something strange happened that got me frozen for a moment. I heard my late mother's voice inside my head. I had always known that she had been a powerful beta, but I had never been able to access that part of myself.

But as I stood there, struggling to subdue Jake, I felt a surge of energy inside me, and suddenly everything changed.

My eyes flashed gold, and I could feel the power coursing through my veins. With a roar, I lunged at Jake, and this time, I was able to catch him off guard. He stumbled back, surprised by my sudden burst of strength, and I seized the opportunity to strike.

But as I sank my teeth into his flesh, something strange happened. Instead of the usual rush of adrenaline and bloodlust, I felt a jolt of pain shoot through my body. I tried to pull away, but I was trapped, and I could feel Jake's poison coursing through my veins.

The other werewolves tried to help me, but it was too late. I could feel myself slipping away, the world around me growing dimmer and dimmer. And then, just as I was about to lose consciousness, I saw her.

It was my mother, standing before me, her eyes blazing with a fierce intensity.

"Mabel," she said, her voice ringing in my ears. "You can't give up now. You have to fight back, with everything you have. Remember who you are, and use that power to overcome this."

I tried to speak, but my throat was too raw, and all that came out was a weak growl. But my mother seemed to understand, and she nodded encouragingly.

"You can do this, my child. I believe in you."

And with that, she was gone, and I was alone once more. But something inside me had changed. I could feel a new strength within me, a power that I had never known before. And as I rose to my feet, I knew that I was ready to face whatever lay ahead.

I closed my eyes and concentrated, trying to tap into the power that my mother had spoken of. I felt a surge of energy coursing through my veins, and I knew that I had to act quickly.

I could see the pain and confusion in Jake's eyes. He didn't want to hurt us, but he couldn't control himself. It was like he was being controlled by some external force, and there was nothing he could do about it.

Finally, one of the other werewolves managed to get a hold of him and pin him down. We all gathered around him, trying to help him fight off the infection.

"It's not working," I said, my heart sinking.

"We have to do something else."

The other werewolves looked at me, waiting for me to come up with a solution. I knew that there was only one thing we could do, and it was risky. But we had no other choice.

"Jake, I need you to trust me," I said, leaning down next to him.

"I need you to let me try something."

He looked up at me, his eyes full of pain and confusion. But he nodded, trusting me to help him.

I closed my eyes and concentrated, feeling the power of the moon coursing through my veins. I knew that this was the only chance we had, and I had to get it right.

I began to chant, the other werewolves watched in amazement. They had never heard anyone speak the language before, let alone attempt to use it to heal someone. I could see the doubt in their eyes, but I pushed on, focusing all my energy on Jake.

Suddenly, there was a blinding flash of light, and I felt the power of the moon goddess flow through me. It was like nothing I had ever experienced before - a surge of energy that coursed through my veins, making me feel alive and invincible.

Jake let out a cry of pain, and I could see his body convulsing as the infection was expelled from his system. It was a terrifying sight, and I feared that he might not survive the ordeal. But I knew that I had to keep going, that I had to see this through to the end.

As I continued to chant, the other werewolves gathered around us, their eyes fixed on Jake. They could sense that something extraordinary was happening, and they knew that they were witnessing a moment that would go down in our pack's history.

Minutes turned into hours, and I felt my strength beginning to wane. But I refused to give up, knowing that Jake's life was at stake. I poured every ounce of energy I had into the chant, my voice growing hoarse with the effort.

And then, finally, it was over. I felt the power of the moon goddess slowly recede, and I knew that the ritual had worked.

Jake and the other werewolves rushed forward, their expressions filled with relief and gratitude. They hugged me and congratulated me on a job well done, but I barely heard them. My mind was still reeling from the experience, still trying to make sense of the incredible power that had flowed through me.

For a moment, everything went quiet. We all just stood there, staring at Jake as he lay on the ground, panting and exhausted.

Then, he slowly began to transform back into his normal form, and I knew that we had succeeded. He looked up at me, his eyes full of gratitude, and I could feel the emotions between us growing stronger.

"Thank you, Mabel," he said, his voice hoarse.

"I don't know what I would have done without you."
