Chapter 5. IN

She turned around to get a glimpse of the person who had noticed her; she was at ease when she saw that it was just a girl dressed like a slave in a rag. She was sure she was just a slave: "You are a slave, what are you doing here?" "I've been watching how gour men helped you get on board; can you please help me? I want to get out of this hell," the girl pleaded. Immediately Kitara rushed to the edge of the ship to see if her men were still there with their little bowl; luckily, they were. She beckoned on the girl to come towards her, and the girl rushed to her.

"Take her with you; she needs help," she said. And at once her men accepted her and drifted away. "What are you doing here? You are supposed to be gone," one of the slaves said. "I tried to, but the slave masters are everywhere; we all can break out when we get there," she lied to them. They seemed to buy her lies, and Kitara took the time to account for her draft plans and how she would execute them.

She soon fell into her slumber, and, as she always dreamed, she saw the dead body of her mother and the alarming scream of her sister. She woke up to the sight of the slave masters taking advantage of one of the girls and sexually molesting her.

The girl continued to scream, and instead of playing the hero, Kitara looked away. She was determined not to blow her mission by any unnecessary situation. Soon the slave master was done and called his workers; it was time to mark them, "he said. Hiw workers split into two. The first group walks to the slaves' quarters, arranges them in a row, and soon the second group arrives with a red-hot brass rod inserted in a hot coal preparation.

The slaves were imprinted with the hot brass rod; Kitara was also imprinted. She harbors the pain, not flinging a hand at the workers. Soon they got to the capital and were displayed for sale the same day, which was not part of the plan. Kitara was bid on by many willing customers, but she always finds a way to make them hate her. She even went to the length of pretending to be unconscious and mentally deranged. The slave master was pissed off and decided to purify her, so he took her to a dark chamber deep in the ship that night and chained her up. She was left in the darkness; she knew this was her only home. Anywhere she found herself in a dark place, she began to hallucinate, seeing the dead souls of her family before her, laughing weirdly at her.

As soon as she was sure the slave master was far away, she swung into action. She brought out an iron object from her hair bond, and making use of it, she broke open from her bondage and managed to get out of the dark room. She tiptoed down to the chamber of the slaves and said, "Hey, I am going to break this open."

"No one just make a noise and escape one by one, okay?" She said. The slaves were jolted awake by this; they hoped she would be able to break them open, which eventually she did. The slaves at first cooperated with her movement, but then, out of the blue, a sound was heard, and each slave tried to escape without waiting for the other.

Kitara was quick to sense danger and rushed to the fuel lamp she had placed with the slave. She spilled the fuel on the wooden floor of the ship, and soon the floor was lit with fire. The slave master and his worker woke up to the horror; they had two choices: go after the slave or save their dear ship. They eventually resulted in trying to save their ship, and all the slaves managed to escape. Kitara headed for a far street, and when she got to a secure place, she took out her hidden knife and cut herself on the imprinted mark. Making sure she redesigned it, leaving no details, when she was sure the mark could not be recognized, she tore part of her dress and used it to cover it up. She headed for another street and spent the whole week there until she got word of the king's recruitment. She signed for it, and she dueled against other recruiters, and she was accepted to work as a cleaner in the alpha's palace.

She soon realized she is not the only one Casey has in the Alpha Wall; some of the other workers came to her, introducing themselves to her as Casey's spies, and Casey had informed them of her anticipated arrival. They all seemed to have been hurt by the king, one way or another, and had sworn to take their revenge. Alpha Mykel was quick to notice Kitara she looks familiar to him, but he couldn't figure out where they have met.

He starts keeping an eye on her and learns that she is interested in the guards' training. So he decoded to meet her in person the next train. He dressed in his training outfit and headed for the training site. He was shocked to see that she was practicing archery with his guards.

He watched her with full attention and decided to talk with her. Kitara looked back and noticed Alpha Mykel was walking towards her; she was terrified with his look towards her. "Is her cover being blown?" she asked herself. She quickly tried to work away, but Alpha Mykel kept following her, and she accelerated her pace. Alpha Mykel ran after her as if she were a murder suspect.

Where are you headed? "You seem suspicious; you're not just some kind of servant; who are you?" He asked her as he dragged her by her hand as soon as he caught up with her.
