Chapter 6
I wandered around the principal's office waiting for Betty to come out. I was so worried, It was closing time already and she was still in there. While I was waiting, the rest of the girls came over,
"So what's up, where is she?" Lola asked,
"She's still in there,"
"Are you for real? since lunch, this is scary," Lola said as we all waited patiently for her to come out.
After an hour Betty walked out of the principal's office. We all ran to her to know what the punishment was and she couldn't talk for a very short while.
"Girls, I guess it's till the next two weeks, Principal George suspended me,"
"What?" we all yelled, immediately we yelled, we heard Victoria laughing from behind. We turned and saw Victoria headed to us while laughing like a lunatic.
"She who laughs last laughs best," she said and looked at me, "Angle, maybe you should take her STRAIGHT home, you get it, straight as in an angle has a straight line," she said and laughed her stupid way out.
Betty sighed,
"Let's go home guys," she said,
"No we're not, we're going in there to talk to Principal George," I said with confidence.
"It's of no use, what do you think I've been doing there for the past four hours? I even helped him arrange his stupid shelf but he still stood by his word,"
"You can't just go on a two weeks suspension, who will I walk to school with, I'm used to being around you in school,"
"Let's just go home guys," Betty said and headed home.
When I got home I felt horrible. I couldn't eat, I couldn't sleep, I couldn't do anything. I was so upset that I won't go to school with Betty for two weeks. I was so mad that I flipped the table in my room. After a long period of anger, I fell asleep.
THE NEXT DAY
The next day I woke up at 5:58 AM and got dressed, before 7 AM I was already in school. I headed to my class, walked to the middle seat, and sat down with my music playing on my headphones. I placed my head on the desk and slept off again. After a short while I felt someone's hand on my face, I opened my looked up, it was Jones.
"Stupid me, making this same stupid mistake again," I said to myself. I stood up and walked away but then he called me, I turned and answered him rudely, "What?"
"Wow, I'm sorry I didn't know you were in a bad mood," he said,
"Well I am, now let me be before your girlfriend comes and humiliates me again,"
"What girlfriend?" Jones asked,
"Quit pretending, everyone knows you and Victoria are a couple,"
"We're not, I and Victoria can't be a couple and we won't,"
"And then why didn't you say anything when she came to hug you yesterday?"
"What, I didn't even take it as anything, she came to hug me and I allowed her, what's wrong with that?" he asked,
Honestly, he was right, what do I expect him to do when she hugged him? it's not like we're a couple. I guess I was just worried that she hugged him because I like him. I don't even know what gave me the confidence to talk to him like this, I guess I'm just so upset that I'm not going to be with Victoria for two weeks.
"Okay," I said and walked back to my seat but then he held my wrist,
"Wait, why don't we uh... hang out after school today?" he asked
When he said this I felt like I was dreaming. Look at me lying to myself that I don't like Jones, now he's asking us to hang out and I still haven't replied to him yet.
"Sure, of course," I said,
"Alright, it's a date,"
"Uh yeah... I guess,"
"Sure,"
After the conversation, I walked to my seat. I felt so happy that I forgot my best friend was suspended.
The class began to get crowded so Victoria walked into the class, she walked to me and smiled,
"Angle, I've not seen Betty this morning do you know where she is?" She asked as the girls behind her started laughing. While she mocked me Jones walked to Victoria.
"Oh look, my guy is here," she said and tried to peck him but he shifted his face, that was the moment my girls except Betty walked in.
"Listen Vic, I would appreciate it if you quit talking to Angie like that," he said. The whole class was surprised by what he said,
"Uh...what just happened?" Lola asked,
"I think Jones just spoke for Angie," Anita said.
Victoria looked at Jones weirdly,
"Okay but you're my guy and she's my enemy, she should be your enemy too," she said and leaned her arms around his neck but he removed them politely,
"I'm not your guy Victoria, I never asked you out," he said as the whole class gasped. Jones walked closer to me, "So, after school?" he asked,
"Sure," I said as a big fat smile appeared on my face while Victoria stood there with her mouth open. after this event, the bell rang for the first period.
When the closing bell rang, I became extremely nervous, I remained on my seat packing my book and then it happened again, Jones walked to me.
"So by six I'll come to pick you up, is it okay by you?" he asked,
"Uh...." I didn't know what to say until I looked behind him and saw my girls nodding their heads and giving me a thumbs up.
"Yes," I said,
"Okay, text me your address and I'll be there. Do you want me to walk you home?" he asked,
"No thanks, I'm with my friends,"
"Alright," he said and smiled as he headed out of the class.
After he left my girls came to me and screamed in excitement,
"Oh my God, Angie is finally in love," Benita said as they all cheered me again,
"Come on let's go home, we have a lot of work to do, but first, we are going to tell Betty so let's go to her house," Lola said and yanked me as we all headed to Betty's house.
We arrived at Betty's house by 4:30, when we got there she was so happy to see us and she was even happier when she heard the news of I and Jones.
"I knew it, I knew you liked Jones," she said and laughed with us.
"Now Angie, this is your first date, don't blow it," Lola said.
"Yeah it's my first date but I'm nervous, what do I do, what would I say when I get there, I don't know what to do,"
The girls looked at each other and smiled,
"Don't worry, we've got you," Anita said,
"Yeah let the legends teach you," said Betty.
Well the girls gave me some hints, and they told me to laugh even though his joke wasn't funny, I knew that one. They asked me to be relaxed, they asked me to get along in his conversations, and even ask questions even if I understand what he said, and many more so I believed I was ready for my date with Jones. The girls recommended an outfit for me but I didn't have the outfit they asked me to wear so Betty lent me her clothes because we were at her house. When I was finally ready for the date, Lola asked the question that changed everything,
"So when is Jones going to get here?"
Immediately she asked, I remembered that Jones asked me to text my address to him.
"Oh my God," I said as they asked what was going on, "Jones asked me to text him my address,".
"Well do it, what are you waiting for?" Lola said,
"I don't have his number,"
All the girls became dumbfounded when I said this.
{5:24 PM}
"Oh my goodness how won't you have his number?" Betty asked,
"Because it's my first time talking to him," I said as the girls continued to wander around the room.
Anita walked to me,
"Angie, you must go on this date, girls follow me, we're going back to school," Anita said walking out of the room without giving anyone the chance to ask her any questions.
We all ran out of the house and waited for a taxi but no one showed up so Betty became inpatient and ran back into her house, she ran back outside and asked us to come over, surprisingly she opened her mom's car and asked us to come in, I was going to ask if she could drive but I'm sure the girls would scold me if I did because they were rushing like they were the ones that had a date.
We got into the car and with Betty's speed and reckless driving we arrived at school in five minutes. We got down from the car and followed Anita because she was the one that asked us to come to school.
"So we're going to log into the school's computer and search for Jones's profile, there we could find his phone number," she said as we hurriedly headed to the principal's office. When we were almost at the principal's office, we realized his office was open so we stopped outside thinking he was still in school. We slowly headed back and tried to escape but then the shadow of the person inside the office began to get closer, we thought it was principal George so Anita asked us to calm down, she said if he comes out we would tell him we only came to beg him so he could forgive Betty since she was with us. The idea sounded brilliant so I was a bit relaxed that we found a good excuse.
When the person walked out of the Principal's office, we saw it was Jones. We were all shocked to see Jones walk out of the principal's office. We thought he got into trouble but when he walked out, we said hi to each other and he closed the door and locked it.
"Uh, are you locking principal George inside his office?" I asked,
Jones chuckled,
"No, he's not in school. I used this master key to open his office so I could hack into the school's computer," he said
"But why would you want to hack into the school's computer?" Anita asked,
"Because I asked Angie to text me her address but I forgot to give her my number," he said and looked at me, "So I thought I could get her number from the school's computer. I don't want to miss our date," he said and smiled at me. He walked to me and held my hand,
"Shall we?" he asked,
"Sure," I said and looked at my friends as they all smiled at me. I and Jones returned the smile and walked out on them to go have our date, "Have fun you two," Lola said in a loud voice while the other girls stood where they were smiling at us.
