Chapter 3

Five years later, in Zenith City.

In an old building in the residential area, a child's begging voice suddenly sounded:

"Wah-Wah, Mommy, I have already known I am wrong. Please forgive me!"Daniel cried out.

In the living room in front of the sofa, a small and tender boy was pulling his little ear, pouting pitifully.

Sofia frowned and held a test paper in her slender fingers.

"Daniel, look at your test paper! It's a mess. Are you trying to drive Mommy crazy?"

"Mama," the little boy whined with a squeezed face, looking like he was very sad.

"For this question, 'If on your shirt 3 up-and-down stripes cross 4 left-right stripes, in how many places do stripes cross?' and you wrote: '7 crossings'!"

"Wah-Wah, Mama," he sweetly whimpered, hoping his mother wouldn't be angry.

"You little rascal, don't pretend to be aggrieved. Huh?"

The little boy was so scared that he couldn't speak, only whimpering.

Sofia bit her lip. She really didn't want to be so strict with her son, but his Math was just too far off!

At this time, Sofia's mother Evelyn came out of the kitchen and smiled:

"Is our little Daniel doing badly in his exam? Let Grandma take a look."

Evelyn put on her reading glasses and took the test paper from Sofia's hand. She glanced at it and then burst into laughter.

"Our little Daniel is not good at mathematics, but he plays football very well"

"Huhu, Grandma appreciates me," Daniel took advantage of the situation and snuggled into Evelyn's arms.

"Mom, you're spoiling him!" Sofia glared at her son.

"Sofia, Daniel grew up in the foreign country from an early age. We only returned to the United States half a year ago, so it's normal for his exam scores to be bad. Don't put too much pressure on the child. He's still young, just teach him slowly."

Evelyn hugged Daniel tightly. It wasn't that she spoiled her grandson, but she understood that the three of them had lived a harder life than anyone else in these years.

"Young? He's already five years old, and he'll be starting school officially next year! His Math is so chaotic, I'm worried he won't be able to learn any subject well."

"It's my fault. If it weren't for my illness back then, you wouldn't have had to go to the United States specifically to seek medical treatment for me."

Evelyn knew how hard her daughter had been back then.

Although her daughter never revealed where the money for the medical treatment came from, and even refused to mention who the child's biological father was.

That night.

"Sofia, party has started, where have you been?"

"Mr. Evans, I'm downstairs in the hotel, I'll be up soon."

"Okay, go straight to the third floor, I'll wait for you."

After hanging up the phone, Sofia looked up at the luxurious building in front of her. Several gold-plated characters caught her eye: The Royal Oasis Hotel.

This hotel was a landmark building in Zenith city and the most frequently mentioned word by her colleagues during her six months back in America.

She never expected that tonight, Mr. Evans would ask her to come here for a social event. But at the thought of the generous bonus, she immediately lifted her spirits.

In order to provide a better life for her mother and sister Daniel, she must earn more money!

She clutched her handbag and, passing by a black car parked on the roadside, stopped to take a look at herself reflected in the car window. She adjusted her appearance, tying her long black hair into a neat princess bun and applying light but impeccable makeup. The only problem was that her black off-the-shoulder evening gown seemed a bit off.

She adjusted the dress in front of the car window and finally looked at herself with satisfaction. She looked elegant and poised. Okay, she was ready!

Just as she was about to give herself a smile of encouragement, the car window miraculously slid down, startling her. Her forced smile froze in midair. Someone was in the car?

The car window rolled down completely, revealing a strikingly handsome face with sharp features and a hint of mocking coldness in his deep eyes. He looked straight into Sofia's pupils, his fingertips trembling as her heart skipped a beat. He was so handsome!

"Miss, there is no need for 'services' here." The man emphasized the word "services" with a sneer and disdainfully glanced at her. Although this guy looked down on her, damn it, his low-pitched voice was so charming that it was intoxicating! There was even a hint of familiarity in it, as if she had heard it somewhere before.

Her heart skipped a beat, but then she came to her senses. What did this man say? Services?! Everyone could hear the sarcasm in his words!

Although he had a pleasant voice, what he said made her want to tear apart his handsome face! Who did he think she was?! The humiliation made her face flush instantly.
