CHAPTER 6.

I shifted and Edon took over. My father wasn’t far behind and our wolves were the same size.

Mine was a dark-brown and his was grey.

‘“Hey, woah!” Patrick was standing in the gazebo and for his own good, i hoped that he would stay put and not interfere.

Edon lunged for him but he managed to dodge it.

We circled each other before he made his move. As he came towards us, Edon lowered his head and pushed of the ground, biting in to the side of my fathers wolf.

Keep it there

I said and Edon put more pressure.

“Hey, Percy that’s enough!” I heard Patrick’s voice and Edon let go.

‘Get me some clothes’

‘And your dad?’

I looked at him laying on the ground, breathing heavily.

‘Leave him’

“You fought him?” Cathy scolded as i got to the kitchen.

“Did you know, about my mother?” She looked taken aback but answered with a nod.

“Then just be grateful I didn’t fight you too,” i had had enough. Everything was pushing of the edge, one thing after another. One more thing from another person and blood would spill.

I might be an alpha but there is only so much i can take without loosing control completely.

‘Remember the letter’

Edon, i know but I can’t promise that things will go smoothly

‘You don’t have a choice’

Then everyone better keep their distance and keep their mouths shut

‘Big chance’

The sarcasm wasn’t lost on me but i surely hoped they would stay away.

I walked over and grabbed some food before going to sit with Patrick, his brother and the gamma.

The gamma, Eliot, had met his mate, Lauren, a year ago. They had what I wanted to have with Selene. Only they were a little less fun than i hoped to be.

“Hey, what happened to your dad? I heard some omega had to bring him clothes,” Eliot said when i sat down.

“Dude, shut up,” Patrick said and smacked him on the back of his head. They all looked at each other but remained silent.

My talk with my father ran though my mind on repeat and I couldn’t stop thinking about my mom. All this time i thought she was an uninterested, rank-climbing ho- woman. But it was him, it was my dad who had given her the ultimatum of either disregarding her own son or being an outcast. A rogue. No pack would take a wolf that had been tossed out if they were close to a powerful alpha.

I was poking at my food, my hunger had disappeared and i just wanted the weekend to be over so he would leave. And so that she would leave too. I needed things to go back to the way they were before i lost my mind completely.

“What’s going on with him?”

“I don’t know, something with his dad maybe?”

“Well his dad was a dick, so maybe,”

“Is a dick. Or maybe it’s because the king-“

“I can hear you idiots,” i growled and slowly looked up.

“Hi,” a cheery voice broke me away from my thoughts and a woman sat down next to me. She was in her mid fifties and had a shorter Afro. She was wearing a yellow dress with pink flowers on it. Her cheeriness was annoyingly disgusting.

“And you are?”

“I’m Samantha, i thought your father told you about me.” Her voice dropped a little, as did her smile. If i could make it go away completely, I’d be happy.

‘She seems nice’

She can be an angel for all i care as long as she leaves my pack and takes my father with her

I said to my wolf with frustration lacing my words

“He hasn’t.” I said and watched her face intensively for any sign.

She looked at the others and the only one smiling back at her was Lauren. The girl had a heart of gold and as long as she didn’t open her mouth and start a conversation, she could keep it. I gave her a warning glare and she diverted her eyes.

“No, we didn’t get far in that conversation.” My fathers voice was an unwelcome surprise as it filled the dining hall.

“Sweetheart, what happened to you?” Samantha gasped as she got up and went to my dad.

“He happened. I trained him well, maybe a little too well.” His voice came out a low growl.

“You didn’t train me, the warriors did,” i said without making eye contact and taking a drink from my glass.

I bit together at the surprise burn in my throat and looked at Patrick.

“Thought you’d need it,” he said and took another bite of his chicken.

I smiled and gulped down the rest of the whiskey-coke mix.

I heard his long, out-drawn sigh and rolled my eyes.

“If there is something you want, then get to the point. My patience with you is running thin and you’ve been here what, ten minutes?”

“Son, i would like to formally introduce you to my, mate,” he said and looked adoringly at her.

My eyes grew darker and my hairs stood. So this was her, my mother found her mate and this was my fathers.

My breathing picked up speed and the hairs on my body stood. My nerves were drawing together and my eyebrows furrowed. I clenched my jaw and pushed back my chair as i rose to my feet. Everyone went quiet and all eyes turned to me. One thing everyone here had, was respect for their alpha and it didn’t take them long to accept me as their new alpha when my father left. What i had done with this pack in his absence was by all others envied. In the time i had been alpha, fewer attacks had occurred, more security had been established resulting in less rogue attacks and we had taken over three packs and their territory. This was what i had been molded for by my father and i had exceeded his expectations.

Where my father was ruthless and feared, i was worse. But as much as i was feared i was also respected. Whichever pack i consumed, i took care of those who chose to stay. They were a part of my pack, my people and for that they were treated as such.

I walked over to my father and his newfound mate, extending my hand to her.

She visibly gulped before grabbing it.

“Pleasure to meet you and I’m glad my father has found someone to occupy his time with,”

‘Classy’ Edon murmured in my head.

I rolled my eyes and walked past the both of them and headed out.

For what he has done i will never understand how he can deserve happiness

My voice gave away the anger that boiled within.

‘Honestly, Percy, how are we any different? If not worse, we're letting our mate go whereas he at least embraced her’

I clenched my jaw and my anger continued to grow.

I’m not willingly sending my mate away, it’s her family, i have no say in the matter

‘I know’ his voice was saddened but his fury wasn’t well concealed either.

Then stop mentioning her

He scoffed and rolled his eyes before retreating knowing there was nothing else to say.

We were both on the same page regarding Selene but neither of us were happy about it.

He was right though, my wolf, how was i any different from my father? If not worse…

I rammed my hand through my hair as i made it out, the plan was to go to the training facility and release some stress but instead i found myself walking down the hallway to the one room i was supposed to be stearin clear from.

I knocked on her door, my wolf pacing back and forth in distress.

‘What’s going on with you?’

‘I don’t smell her'

My eyes widened a fraction when I realized he was right. I grabbed the handle and pushed down, opening her door and letting it slam against the wall.

“Fuck,”

I walked to where her scent drew me. The scent of rain, vanilla and lemon grass was like a calming balm to my body and mind. I felt it becoming stronger as i walked to the front of the house and there i saw her, standing in her small frame in front of my fathers towering form.

His head snapped to me as i entered the room and Selene’s followed suite.

“Leave;” I growled loudly when i saw the darkness in his eyes.

There was a story here, a long one and Selene was the main player in whatever game they were playing.

He nodded his head and took one last, long look at her before walking away.

i was quickly over by her side and grabbed her arm, yanking her behind me as i walked to a secluded room and shut the door behind us.

“What are you doing outside your room?” I had her pressed against the wall, my body against her own, keeping her in place.

The fire in her eyes was starting to resurface after the shock of meeting my father.

“Charity told me the kitchen needed cleaning,” she said and raised her head in a defiant motion.

I fought the smirk wanting to grow and instead stared down at her. I saw the hint of fear in her eyes that she thought she had hidden. She was petite compared to the others but even smaller compared to me. I was towering over her, not needing to put much pressure to keep her in place.

Selene wasn’t weak but she also didn’t have her wolf meaning she didn’t have her full strength yet and she hadn't trained like the others.

“I thought I specifically told you to stay hidden and not come out. What part of that was lost on your mind?” My voice was low and gruff with a hint of amusement that I couldn’t tell if she picked up on. Her stubbornness was refreshing in a pack where everyone either feared or both feared and respected you. The she-wolfs were glad whenever a gaze would be thrown their way and had I asked either of them to bend over and lift their skirts they would’ve gladly obliged.

But not Selene. The only woman i wanted to bend over a table and rip the clothes off, is the one woman not meant to be mine.

‘Yes, she is’

No. Apparently not

“Alpha?” Her timid voice broke me from my thoughts and caused an agonizing pain both in my cock and in my heart.

She had noticed the sift in my eyes, her cheeks were flustered red and her plump lips slightly parted. Her eyelids fluttered as she took in my features breathlessly and her legs squeezed shut telling me everything i needed to know.

Those lips, how badly i wanted to place my own on hers. To nibble and suck before invading her mouth with my tounge and tasting her.

I reluctantly tore my eyes away from her lips and looked up at her big doe eyes.

‘Doe eyes?’ Edon sarcastically repeated.

Fuck you

A deviled smirk grew on my face and I felt a power surge through me, i used my leg to push in between her legs, separating them and the scent of her arousal ouzed out. Something told me she wasn’t all to familiar with the feelings surging through her.

My kneecap was right at her core, playing against her panties.

“Alpha-“ she choked on her words and her eyes left mine, moving down to my lips.

“Did you not understand what i ordered you too do earlier?”

She nodded her head, her hair falling in front her face. I used my hand to place it behind her ear, lingering on her smooth skin as i did.

“Answer me with words, Selene,”

“Yes, Alpha, i remember,”

“And yet, you defied my orders,” my voice was low and dark, goosebumps grew on her arms under my touch.

“I’m sorry. I thought-“

“No. There is no need for you too think, you must simply obey,”

I was pushing my limit, i knew i was. I was tapping in to the hardheaded, fierce girl I’ve seen on a few different occasions.

“I-“ i was intoxicated by the power my touch held over her. How my fingers caressing her skin made her shudder or the way her damp panties were getting wetter by the second. How her words caught in her throat as i gazed down on her.

“You will go back to your room and you will stay there until tomorrow. Is that clear?”

“Yes,”

My lips were against her ear.

“Yes, what?” I demanded as my glumness deepened.

“Yes, alpha,”

“Good girl,” I stroked her arm and reveled in the hard breathing and breathlessness she responded with.
