CHAPTER 2 Runaway
Crystal Point Of View
By the time I finished my transformation I had little time to escape because I knew it would be dark around for a few minutes made of clouds. And that's my chance to run away.
I just hope I succeed and they don't find me. But I believe in myself. No one has beaten my speed yet so I am confident that they will not catch up with me even if it is the King.
What's the use of being the Alpha?
In a few minutes, the time will come to an end and they will be given a signal to return. It's only a matter of time before the sun goes down, and the moon will come out.
"Julio ... it's time," the King told his personal servant to give them a sign.
I looked at my cousins with wide smiles on their faces. I know that Themedeus' smile is just for show, he is waiting for what I will do.
A few moments later the remaining princes returned and there were only three of them including Blake who gave me a big smile. The strength of his self -consciousness.
I looked at the King and his face was also happy, maybe he saw with his stone to be my mate.
"Congratulations to all of you. You are very good to get to the last stage of the Hunt. You can rest for a few minutes before the blue moon appears and my daughter can start choosing her future mate," he insisted.
Right now the sun is just setting and it will be a while before it gets dark.
"Father, what if none of them give me a blue moon?" I asked unexpectedly.
I grabbed his attention and frowned slightly. "What do you mean?"
"Didn't you say, the blue moon is my guide in choosing one of them? What if none of the three of them will be my mate?"
"Impossible. Never in our history had happened like that, with every choice of becoming Alpha one of the remaining princesses or princes wanted a blue moon. Are you worried about that?" I nodded, and he came over and stroked my hair. "You don't have to worry because I'm here to guide you with your future mate," he added, shrugging my shoulders.
That is not what I want to hear from the King although I can do nothing because I have not yet proved anything to him.
When it got dark all around, the servants lit a fire. I saw Blake stand up again in their seat using my super sense of sight.
"And now we will begin the last ceremony for choosing the mate of the Alpha. It's only a minute and the moon will turn blue and that's the signal to show off your elegance in changing your appearance... Are you ready?"
At the same time we waited for the moon to change color, it was only half a minute and the surroundings were dark again.
I watched the remaining princes from the far edge as they began to strip off their clothes. Blake's shirt went first, then his top, both of them simple enough that it was easy for him to do. While Morgan was struggling out of some kind of sweater with a polo underneath. Leo shucked his pants and top off quickly. He cracked his neck and the sound was loud in the anticipation-filled silence.
Blake transformed effortlessly. He'd always been good at it, that's why he had the urge to say something unexpected to me last night. Part of being in our pack, the packs are the most in tune with the nature around us, which meant we were all much closer to our wolves.
His was a good size, surprising due to his masculine human body, and a tawny color edged with lighter brown. He stretched, front feet in front of him, hunched back, and trotted off toward the forest with her tail high.
And then it's my turn to change. The King stepped to the side so I could fully transform into a wolf. He moves again a little because he knows that I need more space. My skin was so pale, it practically shone in the moonlight, the rare transformation in our pack. I ran a hand through my hair, pressing it back, eyes turned blue. Then with two long strides, I leaped and transformed mid-air. When I hit the ground, I was fully a wolf myself.
Maybe it was one of the reasons why the King chose me as the new Alpha because it was something they couldn't accomplish.
Meanwhile, the other packs all around me were beginning to let the transformation take over. It wasn't smooth because they'd had to slow the shift to let me and the other Princes take the lead. And it was a successful ceremony.
When all of us are done changing forms, the strong winds blew the fire and the moon is now behind the clouds. It was fully dark in here, but thanks to my supervision, I can still see everything. I only have five minutes till the blue moon comes back and I have to move fast.
"Crystal?" I was stunned by the King's voice.
"Yes, father?" I answered back.
He's making sure I'm still here. Fuck. I need to get my things in the Palace but I don't have much time anymore. I also started to feel some wolves coming toward me.
I'm sorry for disappointing you, Father.
Before they surround me, successfully. I started to hit the road and run as fast as I could. Later on, the lights were back on and I heard the King howling.
"Find my daughter and bring her back!"
"Crystal!" He sounded mad.
I'm still the Alpha but I'll take my leave.
I wanted to prove that I can lead the pack without anyone besides me.
From behind, I heard all the steps that were coming for me. I need to find a place where they can never find me.
