Chapter 4
To make it fair, Alpha King later said the duel would proceed like the mortal landing. It means Alpha Prince is not allowed to take the wolf form during the fight. He, too, like me, will choose a weapon for the fight.
As the evening sun made its way down towards the horizon, I tried to match the moment of my sword as the stream beside me flowed, sprinkling water on me, my leather-covered toes deep in the grass, mud, and stone. This is all I can do now.
In other mortal lands, it was an unfair fight to begin with. Humans who can shift into beasts, the creatures who feed on blood, or humans who can cure any illness are witches. Beyond the immora islands, it's all stories. They don’t know what is here, even for us. These people speak of fairies, lycans, and sirens, but we have no idea what or who they are.
How did I think I could fight a werewolf? This was the only way to fight for my freedom; this was the only way to fight and take control of my own life. I will die now, on the field where I thought I would get freedom. I sighed, looking down at the stream. The soft grass beneath my feet looked nice, but the evening sun did nothing to warm the cold of Lunar's valley.I look down at my pale white hands, and I always feel cold. Even the sun was abandoning me.
"You are not planning to give up on your life by drowning yourself, are you?"
I was pulled out of my thoughts by the familiar voice, Familiar? Yes, I thought, though I have only heard it once. It seems familiar. I turned to meet the light brown eyes, and his lips curled up. He was wearing a strange long blue robe with emblazoned, but he still looked striking, walking towards me. I took a step back a little.
"I would rather die in field than take my own life."
He tilts his head, as if studying me.
"Why are you fighting?"
"What do you mean?"
"You might have defeated warriors in your land, but a mortal is no match for a wolf."
"I think my unwillingness is quite clear," I triedly chuckle, but I felt strangely compelled to say this. I look away from his intense gaze. He walked towards me, my heart racing as he got close enough for me to feel the heat of his skin and his hand raised. Starred by his closeness, I jumped back, shoving his hand away. I took a long breath, trying to suppress my panic.
"What are you doing?" I asked.
He didn't immediately withdraw his hand, but instead touched the lock of red hair that was slowly falling from my braided hair. Every muscle in my body stiffened before I let out a breath, the warmth of his hand radiating against my cheeks. He took his hand back and clasped it at his back.
"Say no,"
"You think I would be here if that were possible?"
"I suppose not," he said, looking away from me to the sun as I gathered myself, chastising me for freaking out. I felt my cheeks getting hot, remembering the way I shoved his hand. If I open and close my mouth to apologize, and then I shut it, why would I apologize? This is not even appropriate. I looked around. Is it alright for these people to meet alone like this without any supervision?
"Don’t overwork yourself before the fight; you will need your strength," he said, turning and walking away from me. As he went, the cold wind once again enflugged me.
We were invited to the moon worship ritual, but I couldn’t go there. In the end, I end up sharpening my sword, which seems to calm me down a little. After that, I left to find something comfortable to change into and fight in.When I turned, Sansa had my sword in her hand.
"Are you enchanting it?" I joked.
"Huh?" Her eyes widen as she looks at me and
"No, not really, but it won’t be a wrong idea; they are being unfair."
"I don’t know anything about that, but I don’t want to cheat, and this is the perfect opportunity to get out of here,"
"You are still set on leaving the Immora Islands."
I nodded. Only if I get out of here.
I tightened the leather cuff around my wrist. Let's see what fate awaits me after all of this.
They created a ring wide enough for three elephants to stand in; there were people standing all around, and Alpha King and other Alphas, along with my father, sat on a stage where they could easily look at the fight.
Suddenly, my sword felt light in my hands. A surge of strength took over my body. What is it? As Alpha Prince approaches with his sword, my eyes scan for a flash of platinum hair. Why was I looking for him? I felt uneasy not seeing him and looking down at the weightlessness. I felt it was not normal.
The moon shone brighter than ever as the torches shed light on my opponent and the crowd that was cheering for him. Remember, this is the only way you will find a way out. i told myself.
As I struck, our swords clashed, and he started to overpower me quickly, but a light-weight response, I rotated under his weight, hitting the sandy ground. I jumped. my sword grazing his shoulder. He growled at me, his eyes turning golden. A sense of fear struck me for a moment; I didn’t mean to draw blood. I look down at the sword, feeling it light, but it is not following my command. It struck ahead, going straight for his neck.
No, no, no! What is happening? I tried to pull it back, but the blade seemed to have a mind of its own. Prince Klyn jumped out of the way, and his sword pulled me with it again, aiming for his figure on the ground. Prince Klyn jumped back on his feet, his sword on the other side and the veins on his neck, his bulging muscles coming out, his eyes glowing, and his teeth growing past his mouth. He is phasing!
I grab the blade, digging my heel into the ground, trying my best to stop the blade that seemed to be somehow enchanted. It snapped my hand, and I flinched at the pain and the edge cutting my flesh. The blood bled down onto the edge of the sword. When I thought there was no way to stop the sword, the crowd started roaring into the night. I broke into a cold sweat as I struggled to grab the blade with both hands, pulling it enough so it would be away from the Alpha Prince, but it was not enough; it was as if the blade was enchanted to drink the blood before it could be pacified. It pulled me to kill the Alpha Prince. This is it; to stop it, I grab the sword from the middle. My knees weaken every muscle in my body as it works to turn the sword and direct it towards me.
I was now standing between the Alpha Prince and my own sword as it swung towards me.
