Part two- Chapter 2
“LET THE FLAMES BEGIN!”
― Hayley Williams
Elegance Pack, 1998
THE horrible screams woke up the little boy. He sat up straight in the bed and rubbed his eyes. “Dad?” he called but there was no reply.
He looked around the dark room and called for his father again because it scared him.
The screams seeking for help only increased when the little boy scooted to the edge of the bed. He turned on his stomach and slid to the floor carefully. His gaze fell on the windows which were covered with thick curtains.
“Kill them all” a man roared from outside that made the little boy tremble. He was curious to know what was happening and so barefooted he started making his way towards the window.
Just when he was about to push aside the curtain the door to his room opened and his Uncle Jeff rushed inside. He quickly switched on the lights that eased the fears of the little boy. “Uncle” the nine years old boy whispered. The boy gasped when he saw his uncle covered in blood.
Jeffery hid the gun in his pocket and rushed towards his Alpha’s son quickly picking him up. He had promised the little boy’s father that he will protect his son. Quickly he tugged the blankets and wrapped it around the little boy covering him with it.
When Jeffery was sure that the coast was all clear he rushed towards the main door. “What happened to you? Where is dad?” the little boy asked and Jeffery’s eyes pricked. He blinked continuously to hold back the tears.
How would he say to the little boy that his father was butchered like a lamb few minutes ago? He couldn’t. The boy will understand everything soon but first he needed to make sure he was safe. Clearing his throat he spoke to the little boy, “I just got into a small fight and your dad is a little busy pup but he had asked me to take care of you until then”
Carrying the boy in one hand and gun in another Jeffery made his way towards the backyard of the house. He slowly placed the boy on the ground and ripped the creepers covering the basement door from the ground. While doing that he made sure that there wasn’t any unfamiliar scent around.
He never thought that there would ever raise a need to use the tunnel that was connected to the basement. When Victor, his Alpha, who was also Jeffery’s best friend had told him about the construction of this secret basement that connected to the tunnel, Jeffery all but laughed at him however now he couldn’t help but be glad for this. He didn’t bother about saving himself; he just wanted his Alpha’s son to be safe.
The pup was smart and Jeffery knew he would find his way to the end of the tunnel without anyone’s assistant where Peter Moreland was waiting for him.
The little boy who was watching his uncle tearing apart the creepers knew in his heart that something was wrong. All the screams and crying’s were disturbing to him. He wanted to see his father and so curiously he walked to the front yard oblivious to his uncle.
He threw the blankets away and ran barefooted in search of his father.
The little boy stopped in his tracks when he saw dead bodies of many of his pack members. Panic filled him and he ran further to search his father. His friends, his uncles and aunts were all lying limp on the ground. What the little boy didn’t know was he was running into the battle field.
He kept running and hurdling over the dead bodies of almost everyone in his pack. The little boy fell to the ground in his knees when he saw his father on the ground. His strong father, his hero was ripped apart into pieces. The hands and legs from his father’s body were missing.
“Dad” the little boy cried loudly. “Dad” he screamed again tapped his father’s chest to which there was no response. His father was covered in blood. Someone had hurt his dad very badly.
“Pup” Jeffery said and picked his Alpha’s son. What he feared the most had happened. The rogues who attacked where on the other side and they would be here in less than a minute now after they have heard the boys scream. Jeffery realizing this started acting quickly. With great difficulty he pried the boy from his father ignoring the shouts of the boy asking his uncle to stop. He carried the boy and ran towards the basement.
“Are all dead?” Jeffery heard a voice asking and knew it was the rogues approaching closer to him and the pup. He saw two rogues heading towards the house. Jeffery quickly hid behind the tree and covered the pup’s mouth with his hand tightly. From where he was standing he wasn’t visible to the rogues but due to his sharp hearing sense he could hear what they were talking. He was glad that they won’t be able to sense his presence because of the stench of the blood on the ground. Blood of the innocent pack members.
“The Beta is missing” another rogue replied.
“Well, find and kill them then. We were ordered to wipe out the whole pack except the soothsayer” the rogue who spoke first barked. “You know they won’t give us a penny unless everyone is dead” he snarled and muttered a few curses.
Jeffery understood that someone else had ordered the rogues to do their work. So some enemy of the pack was involved in this and he wondered who that might be. Victor, his Alpha had no enemies and he intentionally never fought with any pack. Ever since the death of his mate, the pup’s mother, the Alpha had leaded a simple life. Who could be behind this? He also didn’t understand why they wanted to save Paulo, the soothsayer.
The rogues approached closer and closer and Jeffery knew he should send the boy away before they made it to the backyard. He slowly placed the boy on the ground. When the boy’s little feet touched the dead leaves on the ground it made a rustling noise alerting the rogues.
“Do you hear that Serge?” one of the rogue asked.
“Serge” Jeffery muttered furiously. He was pleased to get to know the name of one of the rogues. It was a start and a good one. He knelt on the ground and stood in front of the little boy and wiped the tears from his soft cheeks. “Avenge your father pup. Avenge him. He was a good man. He didn’t deserve this.” Jeffery whisper hissed and was pleased to see the little boy nodding at him. He knew the Alpha in the little boy had risen after the death of Victor. Though the pup hadn’t shifted yet his Alpha blood had taken over him.
“Kill them all just like they killed your father” Jeffery continued and then proceeded to open the basement door. “Go son. Open the door to your left once inside and go through there. At the end of the tunnel you will find Peter Moreland waiting for you” he said to the boy.
“Uncle Pete?” the boy questioned and Jeffery nodded. “Tell him all that you have seen today. Tell him everything and he will train you well enough to take revenge. Give him the name of the rogue- ” Jeffery snarled.
“Serge” the boy said cutting his uncle off and Jeffery smirked because he knew the revenge will be taken one day. He could already see the fire burning in the little boy’s eyes. His Alpha had a strong heir and he knew it.
“You will not come with me?” the boy asked his uncle with hope in his tone.
“No son. I will not survive through this. Avenge us all and take back what is rightfully yours” Jeffery said and then helped the little boy get into the basement. He closed the door and covered it with the creepers quickly and pulled out his gun. He groaned when he saw the bullets were empty in the gun and so hopelessly he threw it away.
The pup was safe. He had kept the promise he made to Victor. He knew Peter would take good care of the pup and would raise him as his own. Victor too knew it and that is why he ordered the pup to be taken there. He was pleased to know the rogues didn’t know about the boy being safe. He had made sure that another child just around the age of the pup who was killed was made known as the Alpha’s son.
The credit to the idea goes to the Paulo, the soothsayer of their pack. He had predicted that an attack like this would happen. But no one gave much heed to his advice. Jeffery had thought Paulo was dead when the rogues dragged him away.
The rogue came and stood in front of him and snarled at him. Jeffery looked at the men surrounding him and knew his end had come. He was too weak to fight. He had lost a lot of blood when one of the rogues had bit him in the stomach.
“Well, look who had been hiding in the back? The Alpha’s Beta.” one of the rogues snarled. More and more started coming towards the backyard. Relief spread over Jeffery when none of the rogues suspected of the underground basement. In fact one of the rogues had also stood upon the basement door.
