Part two- Chapter 18

“It hurts to breathe. It hurts to

live. I hate her, yet I do not think

I can exist without her.”

― Charlotte Featherstone , Addicted

DUNCAN P.O.V

I found it hard to believe. Sel did say say she is O but still I found it hard to believe her words. Sel was here and she had killed two rogues within a minute, with the same sword they were supposed to behead Darya but I still found it hard to believe in fact, I refused to believe it.

Not possible at all. Seline can’t be O.

She just can’t.

O is a guy. But then again nobody had seen O, they just assumed O to be a guy because only a guy could do such horrid killings and get away with it. She herself said she is O. In fact her full name is Orseline.

It was the truth, alright. But I still found it hard to believe.

Seline is O?

I had suspected her involvement with Granel and others, but I never ever in my dreams imagined her to be O.

I stood there static and stared at her. The breeze was gently wafting her dark brown curls. Her eyes, burning gold were filled with anger. She didn’t look like the Sel that I first met, not my shy and fragile Sel. She looked like a warrior goddess holding that samurai sword which was still dripping blood. I noticed how rigid her posture was and how heavy her breathing was which caused her chest to rise and fall repeatedly. There was blood spattered on her white top.

Even In a moment of betrayal like this, my wolf wanted her.

After she kicked Dan’s lifeless body, he fell on the ground in a limp. She growled ferociously and turned to look at the other rogues.

That is when I noticed Granel standing to her right, Tyson to her left and Cortez standing behind her. Granel who was closest to Darya held her chains and broke it free, with a yank.

“Leave” he snarled. Darya looked at me once, before nodding and running away. Immediately a black SUV appeared out of nowhere with Raven behind the wheels. As soon as Darya was inside the car, Raven started driving and they went away.

“I want everyone dead” Sel bellowed in her Alpha tone once Darya and Raven were gone.

Immediately they all spread apart and assailed the rest of the rogues who started running to save their lives. My eyes were only glued on Sel. I was watching her every movement.

She was trained, perfectly trained. The way she used to lunge and attack was a proof of that. The way she used to dodge an attack was a proof of that. She had thrown the sword away as soon as she attacked the first rogue. Holding him by his neck, she had pinned him to the ground and roughly smashed his head against the floor. I am sure; I heard sound of bones cracking. But that wasn’t enough for Seline, because she twisted his neck in a cruel way and then went after another.

I inhaled sharply when I saw the dead rogue because his neck was twisted just like my father’s was. A growl escaped from my chest but it was absorbed from the sounds of the rogues screaming for their life.

If I thought Sel was worst then she was nothing compared to Cortez, who was ripping the rogue’s body apart. I saw the way he would smirk when a wolf would die. His animalistic side was in full control and he barely gave rogues a chance to attack.

Granel and Tyson were attacking other rogues. Tyson was mostly covering Sel. I would have been happy to see him doing that in other situation but not now.

Not now when I felt betrayed.

Not now, when my trust was broken.

I had thought all the others to be O while all this time O was next to me and knowing my every move. I felt betrayal of trust because of the way they lured me into believing Sel was stabbed by O. Now I was sure that it was done to stop me from going after Cortez and Darya, who was without any doubt was the she-wolf.

I bent sideward when an arm fell close to me which was obviously ripped by Cortez. He had the most hatred in his eyes than any others here towards the rogue.

My gaze then fell on Sel and Tyson. Tyson was holding a rogue firmly from behind while Sel ran and then twisted and decapitated the rogues head.

She was trained, perfectly trained- to be a killer. Her all attacks were aimed on killing the rogues.

“Done” Cortez shouted loudly.

“Done” Sel or should I say O repeated. Done killing rogues obviously because every fucking mutt was dead and only I and they four were present.

I was not involved in the fight because I was too busy staring at my shy mate who was also a trained killer. Correction, trained Alpha killer.

I didn’t get what their motive is and right now… I wasn’t even interested in knowing.

“Pile them up” Cortez said again. He was breathing roughly and his blue-green eyes had turned dark black. I knew he would shift any moment. Cortez didn’t look at all like the guy who used to joke around and irritate Sel. He looked sadistic right now. I don’t know what kind of pleasure he gets by killing rogues so inhumanly. When I had seen him yesterday, I would have not believed that this guy was a killer.

He managed to hide this side of him very well. In fact all four of them managed to hide it very well.

Immediately all four joined together and brought the bodies of rogues in a huge pile. Tyson then went and got a can of petrol from the car, which I now noticed, while Granel removed a lighter from his pocket and handed it to Cortez.

Tyson began pouring the petrol on the bodies of those rogues while the other three watched him. As soon as Tyson was done, Cortez tossed the burning lighter on the bodies immediately burning them up. Then the last part obviously the part where they keep their trademark or also the proof that the murders were done by them.

I saw Granel removing the locket from his pocket and handing it to Sel who took it without any hesitation, because of course she was O, also the one who keeps the proof of their attacks.

She immediately dropped the locket down which obviously would be picked by the stupid, clueless investigators. At the same time, Cortez and Granel dropped two test-tubes that had some colorless liquid in it. As soon as the glass broke, the entire area was filled with flowery scents which obviously would make tracing them impossible.

Cortez lost control and sifted into his large grey wolf with pitch black eyes. He looked up at the sky and howled loudly. His howl was a message to whom, I didn’t know and I didn’t want to know either.

I glared at them in disgust. I was standing opposite to them but even then I couldn’t smell them. When I sensed someone’s gaze on me intently, I turned to look. My gaze met the familiar chocolate brown ones which until earlier this day showed me hopes for future, hopes for family but now looking at those chocolate brown eyes made me realize that it was because of her, I had lost my only family. My father.

I didn’t just feel betrayed, I felt disgusted.

All this time, Sel was with me. She had lied to me. She had lied to me about her name itself. I doubt if there was anything real between us. Sure, we were mates but that didn’t mean she had to love me. She might have a good laugh with the rest of the guys about how she played me for fool.

How I had my emotions displayed perfectly well for her? How I had told her I loved her. How I had confessed everything to her when all this time she lied to me. She might have known from the start that I was after O considering the way she stabbed herself to protect Cortez. It just stung knowing that my own mate would do that to me.

Orseline, huh? That was her name. Obviously Alpha Herrick might have been trying to write it while she had murdered him cruelly and kept the locket in his hand.

I recalled the way; Granel had hesitated when he said her name. How the lady in the clerk at the school was confused when I had asked her to find about Sel. The proofs were always there but I was too close to recognize any one of them. Not too close, I had trusted her with my soul and told her the truth. Who knew that that very soul mate would crush me like this?

No, nothing happened behind my back. It happened right in front of me all this while. The only thing was I was blinded with trust.

I glared at Sel with as much hate I had within me for O and saw her flinching. She was on the other side of this bonfire formed by the rogue’s bodies. My wolf didn’t appreciate my behavior one little bit. He kept repeating to me that there was more to it then it looked, but I don’t think I would be able to face anymore for a day.
