Part Three- Chapter 6
“I guess we're oil and water. (Phoebe)
I'd say we're more like gasoline and a blowtorch. (Dan)”

“Come again” I said unsurely and blinked in confusion. Did he just say what I think he said?
Mating shit?
“You heard me” he said in a nonchalant way and that made me furious. My wolf started growling and now, she wanted to attack Quillon. So much for her calling him ‘mine.’ I actually feel bad for her.
“You are so lucky you are on the other side of the lake” I began through gritted teeth and Quillon cocked an eyebrow. “If you were here, I would knock your head off” I practically screamed at him.
Mating shit!
He chuckled at my words, “Don’t think you could reach that far doll face” he said and I pursed my lips. “What’s so wrong in what I said?” he asked and I gaped at him in incredulity. Is he for real? “You don’t want a mate and neither do I. Let’s just complete the mating process and part away like… friends?” he suggested with a frown at the word friends. Unfortunately, yes he is.
Isn’t he supposed to be like my… I don’t know, ‘Soul mate?’ And is this what soul mates say? Let’s complete the mating process and part ways... like friends?
“What kind of an asshole are you?” I questioned in disbelief and ran a hand through my hair. Taking a deep breath, I recalled what he said, “Friends?” I said to myself in disbelief. “You make this outrageous proposal and expect me to be friends with you? Right now, I feel so friendly towards you that if you drop dead, then I would dance on your corpse.”
“You have some better suggestion Blondie?” he snapped. Great! He is furious now.
“Okay, listen here Mr. Let’s-get-this-mating-shit-over-with, if you want me as mate then treat me as an equal because I will settle for nothing less than that” I spat in rage. “And as far as mating with you is concerned, I would prefer wrestling with a crocodile then mating with you.”
“You like it dirty, eh?” he asked with a smirk and I gasped.
“Did you even here what I said?” I queried in frustration. It’s like I was talking to a wall.
“I did. But I think you didn’t hear what I said” he replied.
“Are you seriously expecting me to consider your offer?” He shrugged as a reply and that made me see red. “Alright, the answer is no. N.O. I am not going to mate with you.” Surprisingly, my wolf agreed with me in this decision.
“Your loss” he said and I glared at him.
“Oh don’t worry! I can find someone way better than you.”
“There is not going to be anyone other than me” he thundered from the other side and my wolf even though was happy to hear it, didn’t budge from her decision. I watched Quillon, who looked ready to shift into his wolf because he was shaking with anger.
“There will be and he will be nothing like you” I snapped.
“Don’t play games with me Darya” he snarled and I gulped when I saw that his claws were out. How the fuck is he able to intimidate me? I don’t understand that.
“I am not playing any games with you. I am just telling you how it will be.”
“Are you rejecting the bond?” he asked in disbelief and my wolf whined. Even though she was angry with her mate, she wasn’t ready to do that. It was mainly because I and Quillon weren’t talking, we were arguing.
“No” I replied and he looked at me in confusion. “I just want to pretend that we didn’t meet each other.”
“That’s your suggestion?” he questioned cocking one dark brow and I nodded without looking at him. “Think it’s that easy? Forgetting me?” he asked and I glared at him. What is the matter with him? One minute, I was sure he was going to shift, but now, he was standing coolly with a smirk. “Let me see you try” he said with a smirk.
“I can forget you. In fact, I will forget you” I stated in determination. “And it will be very easy. In fact, I already met a cute guy today” I said purposely to annoy him. There was no cute guy but he doesn’t need to know that.
It got the reaction I wanted, his claws were out and he was growling ferociously.
“You bitch” he said through gritted teeth because I knew his wolf didn’t like hearing what I said. I wanted to laugh but I was too furious to laugh.
“Don’t call me bitch you dog” I launched glaring at him in distaste. “And don’t show your face to me ever again” I added and then walked away for the second time that day. However, this time my wolf was also with me.
She was upset that we walked away but she knew talking to that jerk right now is a massive waste of time.
“Darya” Quillon grounded out lethally from the other side of the lake.
“Go to hell” I spat looking at him through my shoulders.
Nick was already giving me a sympathetic look that I didn’t want. Right now, I wanted to punch Quillon or even better kick him where it hurts the most.
As I climbed on Nick’s back, I realized that my cheeks were wet because I was crying.
I harshly wiped those stupid tears with the back of my hand. I am not going to shed any tears for Quillon Sanders.
The next day, I was in the farm. The three acres of farm belonged to an elder lady who had sold it to Duncan before passing away. Duncan had gifted me this farm on my sixteenth birthday. I was working here part-time back then because I had school. Now, I am studying for my under-graduate degree and when I am free, I work in the farm, which is usually four days a week. My aim is to get a PHD degree in horticulture.
Since this farm is close to the Elegance Pack territory, I decided to rename it to Elegance Enclave. I love being here. There was greenery everywhere along with fresh air. Right in the middle of the farm there is a ninety feet Baobab tree, also called as tree of life, which is presumed to be two thousand years old. The hollow trunk of around thirty-two feet is my private dwelling.
In my farm, we cultivate fruits, vegetables, flowers, medicinal plants, pulses, algae as well as ornamental plants. Recently, along with other gardeners and designers, I have been trying vertical garden farming. The Green Wall is a beauty and attracts many visitors.
I was busy stacking freshly cleaned carrots inside a box when I heard footsteps.
“Daroo” I turned my head to see Lorcan, my nephew, running towards me. Standing up, I extended my arms as he threw himself into my arms.
“My baby” I cooed as he chuckled energetically. “Where is your mama?” I asked removing my gloves and ruffling his hair, which was the same shade as mine. If Lorcan is here, at this time then it only means that Sel has to go out.
“She is talking to Dr. Petes” he said and I laughed.
“It’s Dr. Perets” I corrected while Lorcan pulled away and picked up a carrot from the box. “Do you want a carrot?” I inquired, while he examined it.
“Are carrots good for health?” he asked in seriousness and I nodded. “Then I want it for mama” he said and I furrowed my brows. “She is not well. She is going to the doctor for injection” he said with a pout and I tried my best to hide my smile.
Lorcan always wants to go out with his mama when she goes out, but when Sel cannot take him somewhere she tells she has to go to doctor for injection. It is the only way he agrees to stay behind because he is terrified of needles.
“Yes. So until I return Lorcan will stay here and be a good boy, will he?” I heard Sel asking from behind and Lorcan nodded at her.
‘Where are you going?’ I queried her through the link.
‘To a colleague’s funeral.’ No wonder she isn’t taking Lorcan with her.
“Please take him home when you are done. Duncan said he will be late” Sel said and I nodded. “His homework is complete, but he will be sitting here and reading the lion and the mouse story” she reminded me. “Also, don’t let him play in the mud, he just had his bath.”
“Alright” I said as my cellphone beeped. I furrowed my brows as I saw that it was a picture of Cortez, whose eyes were wide and mouth slightly parted. He looked shocked… like taken aback. Malory had sent the picture.
“What’s wrong?” Sel asked coming closer and checking my message.
Malory: This is what his face looked like when he found out you met your mate! I am laughing so hard right now….
Sel and I started giggling as we read the message. Typical Malory!
Tyson and Granel had already called me when they came to know I found my mate. Both promised to find everything about Quillon for me, after recovering from the shock. But Cortez, he hadn’t called me and I was wondering why, until now.
“That’s so Lory” Sel said shaking her head. “Anyway, I got to go. Baby, don’t pluck the flowers” Sel advised Lorcan, before leaving.
Darya: Don’t tease him much.
Her reply was quick.
