The Lycan King and His Mysterious Luna

“Zach, I understand that you had it hard growing up and believe me I understand wanting to get revenge, but sometimes the best revenge is to become better than your enemy and you did that. You became bigger and stronger, and my brother picked you to be his Beta. Where are those that picked on you now? Your family and mine are the wealthiest in this pack, yet we still treat others as equal. You don’t treat evil with evil because then nobody wins.

You show kindness even when all you want to do is punch a hole through their chest.” He laughed and that loosened up some of the tension. When the laughter died down, I continued talking. “Look, if you end up being my mate, I won’t outright reject you, but you are going to have to show me that you are capable of being a good mate. I don’t want someone that I am always going to have to wonder if you really are where you say you are or if you’re really with my brother and your friends or out screwing some other she-wolf. I need to be able to trust that when you leave our house, if we are mates, that I have nothing to worry about.”

“I understand what you’re saying Freya. I’m going to work on being a better person from now on, not just for my mate, but for the pack and myself.”

“Okay that sounds good, now because you have messed up my work out time, you will be my sparring partner tomorrow.”

“Aww that’s no fair Freya. I thought you were going to spar with your brother tomorrow? He’s the only one that can go at your pace, and even he barely lands any punches on you. If you were born a male I bet you would be the next Alpha instead of your brother even though he is older.”

“You mean if I was born first. Gender doesn’t matter and you know that Zach. If I was the eldest then I would have been next in line to take over, though honestly, I don’t think I would want to be Alpha. I’m more interested in being able to help out the pack in every area. If I were to be Alpha then I would not be able to do all the things I’d like to do. There’s too much politics and paperwork for me in being an Alpha. Anyway, suck it up buttercup. I suggest you go home and eat dinner then get some good rest. Don’t be late.”

We both get up and head to the packhouse for dinner. Later that night while lying in my bed, I begin to think about the conversation I had with Zach. I’ll admit that the reason I said I would reject him if we were mates is because I know that we aren’t mates. My mate is Alexander and I know that it was more than likely just a dream but for some unknown reason I can’t shake, I believe it is more than a dream. I look at my phone when I hear the ping signaling that I have a new text. After looking at the screen I see that it is Renee texting asking if I am going out with her tonight. Did she forget that we have training every day except on weekends? This is the exact behavior I am talking about with her. She doesn’t take training or anything seriously other than partying. Quickly I text her back and tell her that I am going to bed and she should do the same because we have training in the morning. After sending the text, I put my phone on do not disturb and close my eyes drifting off to sleep.

My eyes open to the same beautiful scene and I walk over to the water and sit on the grass. Putting my feet into the water, I can see the fish and some turtles swim by quickly and I smile. Of course, I am hoping to see Alexander again but if he doesn’t come this is still a beautiful dream. The moon is full and high and there is a slight breeze that carries the scent of the flowers on the wind. I pull my feet out of the water and lie down on the grass looking up at the stars and moon. The scenery makes me so relaxed and it is so peaceful. Closing my eyes, I breathe in the air and the most delicious scent catches me. It is Alexander.
