Chapter 3
Somber music plays in his head as he could be sighted running inside the hospital, tears in his eyes. Behind him were his mother and father who disown him few minutes ago.
His feet came to a halt at a ward where some people were gathered with tears in their eyes. His heart skips when his eyes met his daughter at the door with their nanny tearing up.
What was happening?
"Daddy" she mutters running to hug him sadly. Alfred tried to understand the situation as his body became stiff. The nanny shook her head sadly and began to whimper in pains.
Henshew and his wife walk pass their stun son inside the ward for the doctor to address them on the situation. Though they knew the truth, it was difficult to believe.
Few hours ago, immediately Alfred's car exploded, a text message pops up his screen and it read;
"A little surprise awaits you"
His father and mother heard the explosion and race out only to see their son staring at the blazing fire before him. They were relieved that he wasn't hurt. But then someone was!
The same time his car exploded was the same time his house exploded and his wife was home all day!
Henshew knew how dangerous the men was and quickly took Alfred's phone from him to contact his family. The old man was the first to hear the shocking news from the terrified nanny who was calling out to Alfred.
The devastated man wasn't moving as the shock cause him to glue at a spot. Tears stream down his eyes as he tried not to believe what has happen.
It took a while for him to get to his senses and he began to race out of the mansion but his father took it upon himself to drive his son to the hospital.
Here they were at the hospital to take the corpse of Linda, Alfred's wife. She was such a daring and free person who won everyone's heart. One wonders if she ever gets angry as she was always smiling, even in pains. Why does all the good people have to suffer and die unjustly?
Alfred could remember her last words, she was assuring him that he would meet a good meal if he comes back from his father's house with goodnews. Her charming smile gesturing to him to keep a good spirit. Whenever he was down, she always encourages him and made him smile.
She was more than a virtuous lady who accommodates all. Alfred sees her as an angel sent just for him. Most times, he loses his temper but she was there to quell it down.
Thinking about that made him scream in pains. He would have collapsed if his mother hadn't told him to stay strong. There were people around to console him for the lose but then will that bring her back?
That was the first time Julie had seen her father in tears. She could neither console him as only fear fill her little heart. So she wasn't going to be seeing her mother any longer?
The nanny narrates that she had gone to get Julie from school along with the chaffeur and on their way back, they found firefighters around the building which was severely damaged beyond recognition. Nothing would have survive the explosion.
While the nanny was narrating the tale, she swallows hard as her eyes met with a man dress in all black and was walking away. Her body was shivering as she dares not look at the detective interviewing her in the eyes.
This detective known as Leo had arrived here to examine the situation. He was a friend of Alfred and had come over to solicitate. Although, he also took it upon himself to interview the witness around, including the nanny who he felt was a prime suspect. That was because she was the only one left with Linda before the explosion.
Alfred was just seated saying nothing and lost his thoughts. He didn't even want to see his daughter who was calling out to him.
His mother had to take the little girl from his sight as he looked like a half-dead soul scampering to live. He shut his eyes tight as he could see himself holding on to lifeless wife and begging her to wake up.
She was burnt beyond recognition and reck of ashes. Her painful death made him cringe as he buried his head in his arms weeping in silence. He desired to be alone for a moment.
In this sad state, his father decided to convince this man to drop the case to avoid worst situation.
"Go away" that was the only words Alfred could squeeze out since his arrival here. Henshew heaves a sigh and tried to press on but the next words that Alfred said to him was;
"You're no longer my father, remember... you're only here as well wishers, nothing else"
Immediately he utter those words, he stood up and left his bewildered father. Henshew knew his son could do anything dangerous if angry but then his hands were tied. Afterall, Alfred just declares that they were no longer related!
He had no idea where his feet were taking him to but then his head pictures only one person. It took luck for him not to fall as he looks like a drunk. His boggy eyes creeks around as anger fill him up.
Alfred had been walking for hours and didn't mind the peering eyes at him. His feet came to a halt at a villa which was heavily guarded.
The downcast man had manage to find his way to the presidential villa which was quite a long distance from the hospital. Today, he was going to challenge the president and his bastard son. They could do their worst as that would propel him to fight more for justice.
He tries to push his way in but the security agents around had their guns on him threatening to move if he makes a step. They had surrounded him and so there was no way for him to pass through the gate of the villa.
"Mr president! Come out! If you dare!" He rages fighting back his tears and grieving heart. He wasn't thinking straight any longer and wanted so much to pass a message to the president and his son.
How courageous he must be to be here rather than mourning his lost wife. What would his words change? Somehow, he should learn to accept the truth because only the wealthy rules the world.
"Stand back!" An agent roars at Alfred attempting to pull the trigger. Alfred didn't listen to what this agent said and made an effort to surpass this agent. However, the first agent shot at him.
