Chapter 2 Saving Life
Chapter 2 Saving Life
“Mr. Cole, please think twice about it. Our hospital will not be responsible for any problems this man causes!” The doctor said hurriedly. If it was anyone else, he would have already called the security guards to kick Aaron out. But he did not dare to piss off Cole’s family.
“You will not be responsible? What a joke. No matter what happened to my daughter today, you guys are still going to pay.”
While they were arguing, Aaron had already turned the girl over. He gently put his palm on the girl’s back and slowly massaged her. These were just very basic massage movements, but because Aaron was still feeling weak, it took him a lot of effort to do it.
In these three minutes, everyone was holding their breath and focusing on what was happening. Although Aaron was confident, he was careful too. The girl’s father was so nervous that his heart was almost in his throat.
“Alright.” During the massage, Aaron gently compressed many muscles and nerves on the little girl’s body, which led to the toxins being expelled from her body.
When Aaron was finally done, colours came back to the girl’s face immediately. She was not as pale as before, but looked much better.
It didn’t take a doctor to know that the girl had been saved.
For a moment, everyone was marveling at Aaron’s skills. Everyone there witnessed the whole process with their own eyes. It seemed that he just did a simple massage that everyone could imitate. But everyone knew that there was so much more to it than meets the eyes.
“I really met my saviour today.” The little girl’s father stepped forward and asked Aaron, “Sir, what’s your name?”
“I’m Aaron Bennett.”
“Nice to meet you, Mr. Bennett. I really don’t know how to thank you for saving my daughter today.” John Cole patted Aaron’s shoulder.
“Don’t mention it, I’m just glad that I can save someone’s life. Don’t worry about it.” Aaron smiled.
The reason why Aaron decided to help was that he was touched. The way John worried about his daughter made Aaron think of his parents. Also, he felt that the little girl was very cute and she was too young to die.
“When will my daughter wake up?” John was still a little worried.
Aaron glanced at him. Just as he was about to say something, he realized that John suffered from the same problem as his daughter. It was just that he was strong so the symptoms hadn’t shown up yet. However, it would ultimately accumulate until it reached the breaking point. Aaron was wondering if he should break the news to John in order to save his life.
Just as Aaron was thinking, his wife came back. She saw Aaron standing in the crowd and immediately came over. She shouted, “Aaron! What are you doing here? Don’t disturb the doctor!”
Before Aaron could say anything, his wife was already dragging him out. With a helpless expression, he turned around and shrugged at John and his brother before he was pulled away.
After leaving the hospital, they soon found a taxi.
In the taxi, the woman ignored the driver and yelled at Aaron the whole drive, “Are you stupid? Why did you get yourself involved in that situation? What if something happens to the girl and they hold you responsible? Do you know who they are? Our company belongs to their group. Even my boss has to kiss their ass too to keep his job. If you pissed them off, I will lose my job! Fortunately, they probably don’t know me, I’m just a nobody.”
Aaron pouted resignedly. If it weren’t for the fact that he still needed to figure out his identity, he wouldn’t have sat through the verbal abuse by a strange woman here.
The funniest thing was, Aaron still had no idea what his wife’s name was.
Soon, they returned home. It was a high-end residential area. Their house was of a good size, which was about a hundred square metres. There was a master bedroom and a guest room. The woman even specifically converted a maid room for Aaron to sleep in.
Aaron went back to his room and found a diary after searching for it. After reading the diary, he finally learned that his wife was called Marisa Melendez. They grew up in the same town.
Their town was very conservative and their families arranged their marriage when they were younger. Later, Marisa won a scholarship to study at a university in the big city. After graduation, she stayed there to work. However, she could not escape the arranged marriage. At that time, his and her family took a bus to the city and threw them a surprise wedding. They had no choice but to go through with it.
After the wedding, Aaron stayed in the city. Although he was not very capable, he still cared about his reputation. After he got married to Marisa, he felt like he was a stay-at-home husband. He cooked meals and did cleaning every day. He couldn’t look for a job even if he wanted to.
It was because Marisa was earning a lot, so Aaron really didn’t need to work. Marisa even felt that if Aaron went to work, they would have to hire a cleaner to look after their house. Aaron’s salary might not even be enough to cover the cost of a cleaner.
In the beginning, Aaron was still fine with it. It was the 21st century, it was not rare for women to work and their husbands to stay at home. It was not demeaning because they were both contributing to the family.
However, the longer they lived like this, the worse Marisa’s temper became. It was human nature, the breadwinner felt more entitled to everything. Later, not only Marisa, but their friends also began to laugh at Aaron, saying that Marrisa was the one that wore the pants in the relationship.
Finally, Aaron could not stand it anymore. He left a suicide note behind and ran away, but no one knew whether he was actually dead or just on the run.
After reading the diary, Aaron had a general understanding of what was going on. He felt pity for the man in the diary, who shared the same name as him. He also felt helpless about his future. However, Aaron was 100% sure that he was definitely not the man in the diary. How could he be a mere stay-at-home husband when he could save someone’s life so easily?
But he was still very confused about where his future lay.
“Aaron, go pick up my sister from school!” Just as Aaron was thinking, Marisa’s voice came from outside the door.
Aaron got up resignedly. He learned from the diary that Marisa had a younger sister. She was now in high school and lived with them. She was more domineering than Marisa, and she was also the straw that broke the camel’s back. Initially, Aaron only had to look after Marisa, but now he had to take care of her demanding younger sister too, and he was very troubled by it.
