6. Friend's Exciting Dating News
It was late at night, Sarah and Ellen had dined together at Ellen's apartment. They had prepared dinner, eaten everything, and shared a glass of wine. Now, they were sitting on the couch, relaxing.
"You know, friend, there's something from last week that I wanted to tell you," Sarah began. "I just didn't get a chance to talk to you about it."
Ellen turned to her curious friend, a smile appearing on her lips as she swirled her wine glass. "Go ahead, I'm all ears."
Returning the smile, Sarah turned to Ellen and began to share: "Well, my friend from the hospital, Guruz, asked me out."
Ellen was aware of Sarah's feelings for Guruz, hoping that the connection between the two would blossom. With genuine enthusiasm, she replied, "That's fantastic news! You said yes, right? When is your date? I'm so happy for you."
Sarah's eyes sparkled with joy at Ellen's excitement. She leaned in for a warm hug, and Ellen reciprocated, hugging her tightly.
"Yes, I said yes. We're planning to go out next Saturday. I'm really looking forward to it, hoping we have some common interests," Sarah revealed.
The embrace lingered for a moment before they let go, their smiles reflecting the warmth of their friendship. Sarah expressed her gratitude: "Thank you so much, my dear friend. I should tidy up my room before going to bed. Tomorrow will be an early day for both of us. We'll meet in the hallway before work, alright? Love you, friend."
Standing up, they exchanged one final hug and said their goodbyes. Ellen led Sarah to the door, opened it, and offered one last farewell. "Sleep well, goodbye, and take care. Love you!"
As Sarah left, Ellen closed and locked the door behind her. Settling back on the couch, she closed her eyes, acknowledging the tasks of making the bed and changing clothes before sleep. The next day promised to be busy, which made her yawn as she decided to rest.
One week later...
Ellen had settled comfortably into her new apartment during the first week. Amidst work, school, and leisure, she found time to share dinners with her friend, watch sitcoms, and enjoy moments of reflection on the condominium lawn. Avoiding encounters with the twins was her intention, a determination born from past experiences.
Meanwhile, Paul had just arrived at the building, parking his car next to his brother's vehicle. Stepping out of the car, he greeted his brother, Phillip, and suggested having dinner together. Phill, tired from his day, agreed, and the two brothers shared a close bond, often spending quality time together.
As they walked side by side down the hallway, Ellen decided to return to her apartment after her time on the lawn. A message from the condo manager caught her attention, indicating a meeting in 30 minutes at Apartment 56 on the fourth floor. Ellen quickened her pace, realizing the need to prepare for the meeting.
Upon reaching the elevator, she encountered the twins who had just entered. Her gaze met theirs, with Paul displaying a mischievous smile that she returned with an irritated look. Feeling unsettled, she directed her attention to Phill, who seemed confused by the situation. When Phill asked if she was going up, Ellen replied shortly, "I prefer to take the stairs."
Choosing the stairs as her path, she hurriedly ascended, her thoughts on the twins. Frustration permeated her internal monologue, blaming them for the situation. She was particularly irritated by Paul's actions.
As Ellen climbed, her breath grew labored, her heart raced, and sweat dripped down her forehead. Each step seemed to mirror her irritation. Despite the fatigue, she persisted until she reached her floor, her pace slower than intended.
