CHAPTER 6 The Fear

The chief financial officer, Arnold Baker was in so much pain that he couldn't make a sound. Everyone in the room watched him writhing in pain, and the whole people curled up together. None of them had the guts to stand up and go help him up.

Sophia chuckled mischievously at how silent the room went after the little display they just witnessed. She loved the way she made her appearance to them; showing them she was fierce and not someone they could push around or deal with carelessly.

However, Jake, who was already engrossed in the punches he was giving Arnold Baker, raised his fist once again and threw it at his face.

His pupils dilated in an instant, and his skull would probably be shattered with this punch he had just received. But at this moment, he couldn't even make a sound. He could only watch helplessly as the fist hit him.

Just as Jake's fist was about to hit his face once again, a voice like the sound of heaven suddenly sounded. "Jake!" And instantly, Jake's fist stopped abruptly in front of Mr. Arnold's eyes.

He broke out in cold sweat from fright, and even a stream of warm liquid flowed out from his lower body. There was a sudden smell of urine in the air.

"Jake," Sophia called once again with a much calmer voice, and Jake turned to face her with a stoic expression on his face.

"Yes, ma'am," he replied.

"Didn't I tell you before I came here? I told you not to be too impulsive, didn't I?" She raised an eyebrow at him.

"You did, ma'am."

"Why didn't you listen? Look," she turned her head in Mr. Arnold's direction on the floor, then back to Jake. "It's frightening to see the old man that way. He looks like he could die at any moment. You even made him pee on himself," she said the last statement with a slight chuckle to jest him.

"He spoke rudely to you!" Jake said expressionlessly.

"Then there's no need to smash someone's skull, right? I only told you to teach him a little lesson." A disapproving look appeared on her face as she stared at Jake, one everyone in the room knew was a sarcastic one. "The people here are all my uncles, Jake. You have to be more polite to them," she admonished slowly.

"Anyone disrespectful to you will die!" Jake still had that cold look.

"This is a society ruled by law, okay? Killing people is illegal here." Sophia shook her head gently as she felt a slight headache. Then she glanced at the others present. As she did, they all bowed their heads, looking everywhere in the room except her eyes.

"Forgive me," Jake said to the men with a straight face.

"When you see him in the future, try not to provoke him," Sophia responded. "After all, he is the most powerful subordinate of the Azar family. It means that there is a big killer by my side. The one who protects me is called a tight one, so you bald old men, have to be careful with what you say," she cautioned as she stared at them across the table one after the other, while they all avoided her gaze. "Otherwise, the ground will be your end," she threatened.

For a moment there, there was immense silence and no one in the room dared to speak out. The look in Sophia's eyes showed satisfaction. She knew she had instilled fear into them already, and she loved it that way.

When she had first appeared in the room, she knew most, if not all of the men here didn't take her seriously. But after this incident they all witnessed, everyone had to re-examine the identity of this girl they assumed to be little. Besides, the skill of her bodyguard can never be compared to that of ordinary people.

"What are you still doing here in a daze?" Sophia broke the silence after a few seconds. "Didn't I say someone should call 911?"

"Are y'all just going to watch him die? Someone should rush him to the hospital!" Gerald, who had been silent all along and had watched a good show from the side, finally spoke.

A young man who had a couple of similar facial features to the beaten Mr. Arnold and could be assumed to be his younger brother, who was waiting by the side of the room, rushed to him on the ground. By now, Mr. Arnold had passed out.

The young man carried him up instantly and rushed him out of the room, while every one of the men in the room watched them leave.

As soon as they left, Gerald gloated and sat beside Sophia. He chuckled as he made himself comfortable, knowing fully well that outsiders like them probably didn't know about this little ancestor of his family.

He knew how Sophia was right from time. She had this sort of personality that the softer the tone, the harsher the attack. He has experienced this side of her since he was a child up until she got missing.

"Okay, let's talk about the business. I hope all of you will not be affected by this little episode." Sophia sat up straight on her seat, which was in front of the conference table, looking at the people in front of her with a wry smile on her face.

But now, even if she smiled harmlessly, no one dared to underestimate her.

The old men seated were probably frightened by her tough behaviour after what they had just witnessed, and they knew deep down that she was a much more vicious character than Gerald, whom they used to be able to toss around and control to an extent.

"Shall we?" Asked Sophia.
