CHAPTER 2 Welcome Party
"The Stephen family holds a ball today to celebrate the return of the second son of the Stephen family from living abroad."
Under his big brother's introduction, Justin slowly stepped forward. By this time, the rich ladies below the stage were screaming non-stop. They didn't know that the Stephen family had a second son. Previously, the Stephen family did not mention the existence of this son. Everyone thought that after Sir Stephen died, Henry would be the heir to the billions of dollars that his father left behind. It turns out that the recent rumors were correct. Justin Stephen is more perfect than his brother.
The introduction was not fussy, the party returned to its original appearance. The girls quickly surrounded Justin, offering him a drink. They just wanted to take this opportunity to approach Justin and create a good relationship with him. So, maybe they will become the daughters-in-law of the Stephen family in the future?
"A bunch of people with beauty but no brains. Look at that guy Justin's face he doesn't like girls around like that."
Diana stood beside her sister, frowning and mumbling. She doesn't want to go to this party, it's just a bunch of big-breasted ladies, no fun at all. But because her mother insisted that she attend this party, Diana had to grit her teeth and agree to come here.
[After all, this is their duty to the family. You are not obligated to do that, so of course, you wouldn't understand why they had to.]
Amanda stood beside Diana, trying to comfort her. The two just stood in a place out of sight, talking to each other. But after a while, the old lady saw Amanda. She took the housekeeper's hand and walked towards her. Diana saw old Lady Stephen appear, but she also knew that she should not stay, so she made up an excuse to leave. Diana also knew that old Lady Stephen had a very good relationship with her sister, so she did not want to disturb their conversation.
"Amanda, I'm glad you came. I thought you wouldn't come here."
The old lady took Amanda's hand, her gentle face exuding kindness.
[The old lady personally invited me, how could I not come?]
Amanda smiled softly, politely using sign language to talk to the old lady. She smiled happily, quickly telling the butler to call Justin to the two of them.
"You still haven't met Justin, have you? The boy has just returned from a foreign country, and there are many strange things. Let me introduce him to you."
Soon after, the housekeeper brought Justin over. He looked at the daughter standing next to his grandmother with many questions in his heart, but still being polite. He leaned down, politely sending Amanda a greeting.
"Hi, I'm Justin Stephen. Nice to meet you, miss."
Standing in front of a strange man, Amanda quickly pulled her long hair to cover the scar on her face. She didn't want to scare anyone when she first met them. Amanda herself also knew how unsightly that scar made her face.
[First meeting. I am Amanda, the eldest daughter of the Mohini family.]
Amanda politely shook hands with Justin and then used sign language to talk to him. Justin saw sign language for the first time, his face could not hide his shyness. And Amanda herself saw it, and she didn't know what to do.
"Let me introduce. Justin, this is Amanda Mohini. She is the eldest daughter of the Mohini family who is very close to our family."
Justin nodded slightly in response. Just now, he had glimpsed the scar on Amanda's face and guessed that she had had an accident, so she became her current appearance. A lady has no beauty, nor can she communicate. Justin wondered, why would the Mohini family want to take her to the party today. The ambition of the Mohini family is not that Justin doesn't know. More than anyone in the Stephen family, he understood that his father's death had made the family such a delicacy in the eyes of the elite. And of course, the Mohini family is not out of this game.
"Sorry, I didn't know you couldn't talk. Forgive my impoliteness."
Justin turned to Amanda, who was standing beside him, and spoke slowly. Anyway, his actions just now touched this girl's heartbreak. Amanda hurriedly waved her hand to show that he didn't need to apologize to her. The two of them had just met for the first time, so of course, Justin wouldn't have known she couldn't talk. The old lady patted Justin on the shoulder and instructed him to stay and talk to Amanda while she went out to receive guests. But, the old lady didn't know what a funny situation it was for someone who couldn't understand sign language and someone who couldn't talk side by side.
"Amanda, why is there a scar on your face?"
Suddenly, Justin turned to Amanda. He was curious about the scar on this girl's face. Amanda's face was delicate, with a hint of sadness. If it weren't for this scar, she would be a magnificent lady.
Amanda heard the question, out of habit wanting to raise her hand to use sign language. But she remembered, Justin did not understand the language she used to communicate, so she only shyly lowered her head. Suddenly, a large hand reached out to her, causing Amanda to raise her head to look at the man standing beside her. She couldn't understand what this man meant for a moment.
"If you can't speak, then you can write it down. Is it right?"
Justin spoke slowly. His hand remained out in front of Amanda as if waiting for her to give him an answer. Amanda took his hand, her long slender fingers writing each word into the man's palm. The feeling of skin against skin made him tickle a bit.
[Due to an unexpected accident.]
That was the answer she gave him. Unintentional accident? Justin doesn't feel the same way. How could a girl, being the mistress of a large family, get into an accident so big that her face would be destroyed like this? Intuition told him, there must be something hidden behind her accident. But, if that's not his family's business, then he shouldn't care.
