Chapter SIX
"You know we still need to have a conversation right?" Alpha Lucian said, breaking the awkward silence that passed between us.
It's been a few hours and I have been quiet, silently wishing I had headphones to play some music. But instead I was stuck with Lucian staring at me frequently.
"Says who?" I asked sarcastically.
"I already apologised." Lucian grumbled and I turned to him with raised brows.
"What for?"
"Don't start that with me." He warns. I scoff, looking at the window and watching the houses go by quickly in a faze.
"Start What? I know and I've met Alphas like you. You hate being disrespected by people especially when they are lower in rank." I said back.
"You're just being overly dramatic." Lucian spoke, anger lacing his voice and I yawn, resting my head back.
"If you don't mind, I need to rest before I start work at your pack so excuse me." I closed my eyes, feeling the gush of AC hit across my face. My mind wandered to Wren and my heart pricked with guilt.
"You don't think you would be cleaning in our pack, do you?" Lucian asked after a minute of silence and I opened my eyes to glare at him.
"Isn't that why I was bought? Or do you want me for sex?" I asked angrily.
"None of that. You are my mate and I need to have you with me." He explained and a wave of anger surged through me.
"A mate you abandoned for three months? Do you have any idea what heat even means and how much damage it does to a female?" I asked him and he frowned, lines running across his forehead.
"I do know what the heat means."
"I doubt it." I answered back, sitting up properly and waiting for him to elaborate.
"It's a period when a marked female attracts unmated male wolves in the pack." He shrugs nonchalantly and I groan in anger.
"You are missing the important point, there is pain involved. A lot of pain involved. I had to hide from perverts because of what you did to me! I panicked and you decided to punish me for it!" I screamed at him as tears stung my eyes. I blinked rapidly, drawing them back to avoid them from falling.
I hated feeling this way, dependent on anyone. It was weak and if Lucian started to think I could get hurt, it gave him an upper hand and control over me.
"It was a mistake!" He yelled disbelievingly, raising his arms in the air like he was tired of the argument.
"And for three months you didn't realise that. You lied to Logan about us and came back to my pack to buy me like I'm some sort of property." I saw him grip the steering tighter before slamming his foot to the brake, the car suddenly coming to a stop.
"We're here." He said through gritted teeth before opening the doors and getting out angrily. I looked around to see we were in what appeared to be a very huge estate. I snatched my bag and climbed out of the car, clutching it tightly as I followed behind Lucian who took long strides.
"Walk faster, will you?" He glanced at me from the corner of his eyes, stopping briefly to give me time to catch up with him.
"Reduce your pace, would you? Not everyone has the energy to waste on being angry and taking long strides." I resorted, I heard him scoff before turning as a huge building came to view with a fountain at its front.
It was probably the pack house from it's structure.
It was so different from mine. Lucian's had light brown paints, and huge windows overlooked the big garden at both sides of the building where pups played with brightly colored balls.
A few women sat watching them while talking. I saw a group of children run out of the pack house with a kite in hand.
It looked so vibrant and full of life, a smile broke out on my face and I hadn't realized Lucian had turned to me.
"Do you like it?" He asks and I wiped the smile off my face, coughing awkwardly before shrugging and brushing past him into the pack house.
I heard him chuckle behind me and I walked directly into someone as the door opened.
I felt something drop to the floor and I looked to see a neatly baked pie squashed on the nest floors.
"I'm so sorry." I apologise quickly, dropping my bag and going to my knees to observe the mess I had just made before looking up to see a tall girl with red hair that was sticking out from various directions.
Her curious eyes stared back at me in confusion.
"It's fi- Sorry who are you?" She asked and I rose up, chuckling nervously as I racked my head for an answer.
"Henrietta, she's Raina." I heard Lucian say from behind me and I nodded. The red haired who I figured was Henrietta, squealed excitedly.
"You finally had the courage to bring her home!" She smiled, stepping closer to me to observe my face.
I glanced around nervously, confused with her reaction. "I'm sorry. I don't know what he told you but I am a slave and he just bought me." I said quickly but Henrietta waved off my statement and pulled me in a bone crushing hug.
I squirmed and heard Lucian chuckle from behind me. Her scent of vanilla hitting my nose.
"You're crushing me." I whispered and she pulled away a huge smile on her face.
"I'm so sorry. I'm just really excited to meet you." She said and I nodded awkwardly, turning to Lucian whose eyes were fixed on mine. I blushed and averted my eyes from him as a few girls started to come around, hushing among each other and pointing at me.
"By the way I am Henrietta Randolfr, Lucian's younger sister." The red haired smiled and I looked back at Lucian who looked nothing like his sister. I return her smile genuinely.
"So, you seem to have heard about me. I'd like to hear what you know seeing some asshole abandon me." I said and Henrietta laughed, and she grabbed my hand and started to lead me away.
"I think we are going to be good friends. Let me show you to your room." She said excitedly.
"We discussed this Henrietta, she stays with me." Lucian argues from behind us but his younger sister paid no mind to him.
"The decision is left to Raina to make." She said to me and they both waited for my response. I raised my brow and Henrietta nodded at me.
I felt strange at being given a choice but I was ready to take advantage of it, so I smirked.
"No, I won't stay with him. That will be so uncomfortable." I complained and Henrietta laughed as did the other girls.
"See, now get going brother. Mum is coming for dinner tonight mind you." She informed her brother and I noticed the terrified look that flashed across his face. I covered my mouth to hide my smile.
"Why today?" He grumbles.
"Don't want your family seeing me?" I challenged
"Ignore Lucian. He's a real softie." Henrietta says before blowing a kiss at her brother and leading me upstairs.
"He's your brother." I said and she laughed.
"He has no idea how to handle this whole mate thing and he's literally been freaking out for months." She said as she pulled open the door to a huge room and I gasped in shock.
The room had a huge queen sized bed at its center and a dark canopy above it. A huge chandelier dangled from the ceiling and a huge mirror reflected my image from the left. A huge dressing table was just beside the bed with a medieval lamp. I noticed the door to a bathroom and a closet.
"Thank you for the welcome." I whispered out when Henrietta came to stand in front of me. She shrugged.
"Don't mention. Lucian might seem like he knows what he's doing but trust me he has no clue." And I nodded in response.
"I'll have a maid bring you to the dining room when it's time. For now just make yourself comfortable." She announced, looked around and skipped to the door.
"Wait-" I called out but she was already out of the room. I sighed, slumping to the bed, my mind wandering to what the Lucian family was like.
