No secrets
“Are you sure?” Nayera asked as they settled on the couch after reaching their apartment.
“Era, I am sure,” Aleyna said with a smile; she could see Nayera was concerned for her. She did not want her hurt again.
“You forgave him? Just like that?” Nayera asked as she held her hand.
“Yeah, it was not his mistake in the first place,” Aleyna smiled; she learned something from all this; she needs to confront him whenever she feels he is hiding something. Communication had been the biggest hurdle of their relationship all along, but they somehow managed till now.
“Okay,” Nayera agreed and placed a kiss on her forehead; Aleyna’s phone pinged as a big smile appeared on her face.
“I have to take this,” She said; Nayera nodded as she skipped to her room. Her steps were jumpy, indicating how happy she was. Nayera wanted nothing more than to see her always happy like this.
Aleyna smiled as she swiped the green icon on her phone, “Hey baby,” Dev’s voice came from the other end.
“Hiiii,” Aleyna whispered as she smiled to herself.
“Reach safely?” he asked, looking for the file he kept somewhere and could not find it now.
“Yep, just a few minutes ago,” She replied, hearing the ruffling of papers; she bit her lips; * maybe he is busy?*
“If you are busy, we can talk later, Dev,” She said, moving to the bed; she took off her dress, putting the phone on speaker.
“No, nope, not at all; it’s just I kept a brown file on my desk, and now I can’t find it,” Dev said, he was pouting.
Aleyna had finally managed to get out of her dress, as she nodded but then face-palmed herself when she remembered they were not on a video call.
“You have a mess on your table right now, am I right? Or am I right?” She asked.
Dev chuckled, “Yeah, even more mess than before,” He replied.
“How about you keep the papers aside first and then look for the file in the drawers first?” She said as she looked for the bluish-green t-shirt she stole from her boyfriend, oops, correction, fiancé.
“Nope, Ali, still can’t find it,” Dev said with a frustrating huff; he was so done looking for the stuff again and again.
“Look under the table then,” Aleyna said as she looked at herself in the floor-length mirror, his t-shirt was reaching to her mid-thigh. She decided to skip wearing anything underneath and opened the camera of her phone.
Gathering the fabric of her stolen t-shirt, she took a photo of herself, her face still in light makeup with open curled hair.
“Found it! Ali,” Dev said as he kept the file in his first drawer and walked to his room. He had shifted all his business to her city; he had not told her that till now.
“Ali…” Dev said as he received her photo.
“Hmm?” She asked, pouting as she took another.
“Fuck, you look so beautiful in my t-shirt Ali,” He said as he looked at her picture.
She giggled, sending him another, her red thong making a peek-a-boo appearance. Dev opened the photo only to shut his eyes the next second.
“Don’t make me come over and fuck you till you can’t scream anymore,” Dev said, fisting the bed sheet as Aleyna’s face turned hot.
“You would not do that,” she replied. Thankfully she had turned off the speaker of her phone.
“I did that before. I can do it now; you forgot getting fucked against the wall in your room, baby?” He asked with such sweetness, and it did not seem like he was reminding her of the dirty deeds they did every time they were alone in the house.
“Umm… yeah,” Aleyna said, biting her lips as she took off the makeup with the help of makeup wipes and washed her face.
“Ali, I need you to come somewhere with me,” Dev said as she dried her face.
“You always make me come with you,” Aleyna teased as he laughed.
“You do love that,” He replied.
“But on a serious note, I need to show you something,” He said, his tone turning serious all of a sudden.
“What time are you going to pick me up?” She asked, going back to her bed. Turning the AC on full, she wrapped the blanket around herself.
“After the hearing tomorrow?” He asked.
“Then I must have the fun of watching you play argument-argument,” Aleyna said as she turned off the lights.
Dev never allowed her to be in the courtroom because he was a beast there; he forgot all his rules and morals when it came to the courtroom. Tomorrow’s case was the final hearing of a girl who had accused her husband of being the murderer of his girlfriend, who happened to be his wife’s best friend.
Dev’s side was of the man; he claimed to be innocent when he was not; he was going to expose him even though it meant losing the case.
“Ali, you very well know why I do not want you in the courtroom ever,” He said, making her silent for a few seconds.
“It’s time we see each other’s every side Dev; we are getting married; there are no secrets between husband and wife,” Aleyna said; Dev’s line turned silent for a few minutes. She thought he hung up on her.
His anger issues got the best out of him every time.
“Dev?” Listening to her sweet and calming voice, he gulped. It was time he showed her what kind of beast he was. Rest depends on her if she wants to marry him, even after seeing all of that.
“I will pick you up at 8 am; you will be in court by my side tomorrow Ali,” Dev said as Aleyna smiled. He was letting her in. finally.
“I’ll be waiting for you,” Aleyna said as closing her eyes. It was a kind of ritual for them; they slept while the call was still on.
“Night, baby,” Dev whispered, getting under the covers.
“Mushi mu, Dev,” He smiled; her weird habit of saying goodnight as ‘ mushi mu ‘ was fascinating to him.
