Unpacking

Ella

We arrived at the apartment when. I stepped out and looked at the building I would live in for the foreseeable future. I knew this building from my commute to the diner, but I would never dream of living in this thirty-story building. I need to know what floor my apartment is on. I reached for my phone to check the email, but Alexander grabbed it and put it in his pocket.

" I know what floor you're on," he just walked into the massive building and past the front desk, but the lady just smiled at him and didn't even glance at me, mainly because he was towering over me.

So here is this six-foot model-looking man walking a petit framed woman to the elevator, and the woman just smiled at him like he has done this before. So we stepped into the elevator, and I heard a button get press; I looked at it, and it was the 29th floor, and I knew who lived on the top floor. Nikolas lived here; he has to because he owns this building as he does most of the buildings in this city.

I just discovered that my apartment was across from his brother's place. I had no idea Alexander stayed in one of these apartments; from what I have read about him, he has a house on the outskirts of the city where he lives. I have been surprised by his change in demeanor since I saw him again. We reached my apartment; my number was 4A when we stepped in; it looked huge. I could fit my bedroom and bathroom in this living room.

The living room is a gray and white theme with this black rug under the coffee table and an electronic fireplace; I walk around the apartment in amazement. Finally, I reached the kitchen, and my jaw dropped. The kitchen was this perfect shade of white, and all the appliances were the newest ones that had just hit the market and were dark gray. I am beginning to see a theme with this apartment. I head to the bedroom, and the first thing I see is this enormous window, and I can tell the sun is setting; I look around the room to find that the bed frame is white, and the rest of the room has black accents in it there was even a 50-inch tv in the room. I head back to Alexander to collect the boxes we brought up. He wasn't there anymore. I heard a door open, and he stepped out of what I assumed was the bathroom.

I hadn't explored much of the apartment, and he looked at me with a smile " I put some toiletries in there for you; I left the rest of it to you." Alexander walked up to the boxes and handed me the labeled clothes; I heard my phone ring. It was an unknown caller, and I immediately dropped the box of clothes. I let it ring because I have learned over the years that I should change my number whenever unknown calls start rolling in. Then, I heard a knock at my door, and Alexander opened the door without hesitation and laughed.

I looked up from my phone, and it was Nikolas in casual clothes and seemed very relaxed; he at me and stiffened his posture. I picked up my box and headed straight for my bedroom to put some clothes away. " Alexander, why are you still here?" Nikolas said jokingly to his twin after seeing me run off in a hurry. " Just waiting on you to get here, brother," Alexander said, and then I heard the front door close. Nikolas was standing in front of my bedroom door looking at me; I tucked a strand of my curly hair behind my ear, hoping that he wasn't noticing how nervous I was around him and not because I was attracted to him, no purely because he is my boss and can fire on the spot at this very moment. Finally, he walked into the bedroom and sat on my bed; I noticed he was smiling at me for a split second, and my nerves finally calmed.

" Good evening Mr.Zuk," he nodded his head at me, and I kept putting my clothes away, and I stood up from putting my clothes in the dark gray dresser in the room. "Miss. Jaxson, how do you like the apartment?" I stood there nervously smiling " It will take some getting used to, but it's a great place."

I stared at him for a second just to see what look he was giving me; I soon realized that he liked to switch his emotions purely at his whim. This man was a puzzle that I was determined to solve; I could befriend him. However, that is all I am genuinely looking for because I have learned that romance isn't for me; at least this man is either determined to get in my pants or may be different.

I sat beside Nikolas on the end of my bed and almost dropped my head as soon as I sat beside him. I felt him touch my hair. " Such a delicate flower," he stood up and left my room and the apartment. I sit there, utterly confused and bewildered by the man that just left. I picked out some lounge clothes and settled on comfy shorts and a band shirt. I start unpacking the boxes in my room, then hop in bed and scroll on my phone until I am asleep.

I woke up the following day and finally sat on my bed feeling safe and happy. I check the time on my phone and look at the day, and it's Saturday.

I grab some lounge clothes and head to the bathroom to shower and wash my hair. I finish washing my hair in the shower and dry it with a towel. There is a knock at my front door, and I hurry, get dressed, and put my hair in a towel. I ran to the front door, opened and my jaw dropped seeing Alexander and Nikolas both in sweatpants and a comfy t-shirt showing off their muscular arms. " Hey, fellas, come in," I sit on the couch and watch them walk in. My eyes landed on Nikolas; for some reason, my eyes stuck to him like glue and never left.
