The grey robed one!

Mae's POV

My feets step on the cold floor not minding the bumps and stones as I was being pushed by the guards. I dare not complain more as I followed them wherever they were taking me to.

I thought we were going to pass somewhere, where I'll be able to get where I was but instead of that. I was directed to a lone corridor and was shoved in along with them.

I bit my lips as I tried to follow their pace and not slack behind. My feets were in pain due to the chain's injuries and the mosquitos in the dungeon.

I didn't dare complain at that point: I was so scared.

"Leave her here," The man's voice suddenly rang out and my ears picked up. My head slowly raised up to see where I was and I was shocked at the scene I saw.

I saw shabby clothes and worn out beds which were in rows and columns. I looked around wondering where this place was and just when I was about to ask, a sign caught my attention.

I turned towards it and noticed that it was painted in the form of signs.

Slave headquarters

Slaves?

Are these people so adamant about this?

I clenched my fist in anger and frustration.

"Being so unfortunate isn't a good thing, really. It's so sad you offended the 'One' and have to go through the punishment and to make matters worse. His highness did not see you as worthy." He said as he gave me that smug look. I glared at him with anger visible in my eyes but I knew it wasn't his fault.

He didn't do anything wrong. It's just the unfortunate life I was myself in.

"So for now. You have to find ways to survive in the Palace. Pick a bed, get a cloth and join the others. The guards will direct you," He said, waving his right hand nonchalantly like he was chooing a fly away.

I stood there without any expression to make him feel better.

"I'll do that," I replied quietly. He hump at me then walks out of the place. The guards followed him shortly and I was all alone in the room.

I stared at the empty room and slowly made my way to the last bed. There was a small window at the wall. I walked up to it and looked down, only to be mesmerized by the beauty here.

"Oh wow?" I gasped out as I saw a huge golden status that stood majestically under the blazing afternoon. There were greenies and flowers everywhere making the statue look so unreal and mesmerizing.

I looked down more and saw some people with baskets walking out from the garden, filled with laughter.

"What beauty. Where exactly is this place?" I asked myself as I stared at the statue more. But then I looked at the distance and that was when I saw a huge city ahead!

There were skyscrapers piercing through the sky and majestic bells jingling. The world was so lively at that moment… that I felt like I lost my soul.

"Even the birds are privileged to be happy and free. Their chirpings and melodies… while I stay here in agony. Hoping that I do not make a slight mistake and get killed," I sighed heavily as I questioned how life was so unfair.

I left the window slowly as I had to get my things up and walked out from this room to where my duty was… according to what he said.

I must survive here….be any Luna or no Luna. I have the right to my life and no one outside the palace is entitled to control me!

I changed my rag clothes and looked around to see if there was any bathroom but there was none apart from a bucket of water that was at the corner of the room. I walked towards it, and washed my face and all.

"I'm ready," I muttered with a firm gaze as I stared at the rusty door. I was on a clean blue gown matched with a grey robe. I do not know what the robe means but I hope it better be good.

"I'm ready," I walked out of the room and informed the guards. They nodded at me and walked ahead leading to somewhere I don't know.

I followed them shortly after and I looked around and noticed that the windows were sealed and only little holes could be seen.

'Why are they all sealed? Is it that the Alpha doesn't want his slaves to have any route or chances of escape?' I asked myself as I entered the door they indicated me to enter.

And I was connected to a long hallway that was empty and only the sound of my footsteps and that of the guards could be heard.

"Here, get in." One of them said and opened a door and just when I was about to ask him what was going on? I heard a roar of laughter behind me and sounds of girls giggling could be heard.

I froze in my footsteps and slowly turned towards where the voices came from and as I did I held my breath as all pairs of eyes stared back at me curiously.

"A newbie?" One of them asked and soon there were a series of questions. A green haired girl who had a masculine feature and seems to be the boss here.

As she walked up to me, the other girls kept quiet.

"What's your name?" She asked as she walked up to me.

Somehow I felt my heart skip a bit because of how fierce she looked.

"Mae," I replied quietly and the next thing that happened was her staring at me intensely. I was frightened a bit but… maybe that was a ritual?

She looked down and her gaze got fixed on something and the next thing that happened was a sly smirk on her face and I knew at that moment that something bad was going to happen.

"A grey robe people. It seems she has really entered the hit list!" She roared in laughter and the others too did pointing at me.

I was confused at the sudden change of events. And just when I was about to ask what the problem was.

Her right hand slammed against my shoulder and I almost coughed out blood because of the force and strength!

"A newbie here is hell for the few days of their lives. And you being a grey robe one… it seems yours would be ten times that, " She smirked, revealing a set of dimples.

I stared at her sea- green eyes without saying a word. She smiled on seeing this as a look of amusement crossed her face.

"We have a tough one here. Get to work!" She thundered and I flinched a little and scrammed away.

I was appointed to some duty and that was how my hard life journey began.

But… just when I thought I was going to have a little peace, something horrible happened.
