HER ESCAPE

After a very long day, the morning horizon greeted ahead. And Troye woke up to the ringing phone call. Covered with blanket, Troye picked it up.

“Hmm…” without vivid awareness of his surrounding neither who the caller may be, he answered the call.

“Bring me a cup of coffee here in the terrace.” As though as hit by a lighting, Troye instantly jumped up from the bed. He washed himself first before heading toward the kitchen. But before making her the coffee, he decided to drink a cold water first.

But he was left stunned upon noticing the missing bowl of dessert inside the refrigerator. For some reason, his lips curved. He’s glad that Hailey did take the bowl actually meant for her. A few minutes after, Troye is bringing the coffee with him and went upstairs to deliver it to her boss.

It’s his first time in this floor as he was forbidden to enter, and he could only say one thing about it. This floor is too gloomy as though possessed with a broken and melancholy entity.

Troye then went toward the open area where he could see a woman in a silk white sleeveless dress covered with a shole. He halted for a moment and observed her wavy long hair dancing through the wind to the birds flying with the sun ray shone to this direction. But then, his presence is noticed.

Hailey moved her head sideward, and Troye went closer to give her the coffee she asked.

“Latte… I didn’t mention what kind of coffee, although, spot on.” She muttered, with her legs crossed.

“I have observed that you always prefer latte whenever you give me orders.” Troye simply answered.

Silence occurred, and Troye was about to excuse himself, when Hailey asked him an uncalled question all of the sudden.

“What are your thoughts about last night?” Hailey turned her head to his direction averted from the sky. But her eyes just suddenly went wide as she felt flustered at the sight, as if she saw a ghost. Troye looked at himself, only to realize that he was just wearing an almost see-through sando. His eyes, too, went as wide as hers.

“Cover yourself, moron.” Hailey immediately took off her sight on him and faced the horizon before them. Without second thoughts, she grabbed the shole from her shoulder and threw it at him.

Which, for some reason, made Troye chuckle, but made Hailey to glare at him. Although he didn’t really need to do it, but still, he accepted the shole and covered it to himself.

“Hmm… they basically wanted your position. From what I saw, none of them were genuine.” Troye answered her question.

“Except for grandpa.” She continued his statement after taking a sip of the coffee he made. “Meh, I don’t really mind them taking the company, after all, I didn’t want it to begin with.” She went on, making Troye to look at her direction.

“But because of the elders, you got no choice, I presume. They wanted you on it. Now, I understand where it all coming from, your bad reputation, I mean.” Troye responded. Hailey darted him a glare, only to see him comfortably covering himself with her shole.

“Is that a mock?”

“Nah, I meant to say that you’re trying to rebel against them.” Troye answered, which put her in silence for a moment,

Then, she stood up and hold onto the railings. “Hah, perks of having a smart company.” She spoke. He wasn’t wrong at all. “Nah, more like a disadvantage.” She muttered again, making Troye to smirk.

“Anyway, we got to prepare.”

“Right, by the way, ma’am. Your one female cousin wanted to meet you today.

“Which of them?” Hailey gave him a distorted look.

“I recall her name is Ashley.” Hailey made a dismissive gesture at him.

“Meh, I got no business with that bitch.” Hailey answered, recalling her encounter with her in the company building where she was just suddenly slapped by Ashley.

“Oh…” a mischievous grin formed on her lips. “Never mind. Where will she meet me? What time?” she asked furthermore, confusing Troye.

“She said you decide the time. As per the location, she didn’t mention about it.”

“Well…” she muttered, remembering the usual meeting place of the Dixon family. It’s more likely the place where they’ll meet. “I wonder what is it about now…” she said and headed out of the terrace. A grin still plastered on her face.

As though up to something.

After several minutes, the two met inside the car wherein Troye waited for her. “Bring me to the Dixon Casa Park.” Hailey ordered upon entrance. The place rings a bell, until a memory from the past rushed back his mind. The moment he was kicked out of the police force, and at the same time, received this job.

As soon as they got to the said park, a figure of a woman in a casual dress greeted them. Troye’s about to get out to open the door for Hailey, when the latter stopped him from doing so.

“Stay here. I don’t want you to interfere once I drag this witch.”

With overwhelming aura swirling around her, Hailey paced her way toward the woman who’s pretty surprised by her early appearance. But it transitioned to a confusion, when Ashley noticed an absent presence.

“Are you going to apologize now? It’s already late, but I’ll consider accepting it.” Hailey spoke.

Ashley chuckled. “Did you hear yourself? You don’t deserve an apology, Hailey, neither from me nor anyone.”

“Hmm…” Hailey crossed her legs. “Then I assume, something must have happened between you and Gerald? Is the bond shaking?”

Ashley’s look darkened, and breaths become heavy.

“You bitch…” she murmured, gritting her teeth.

“Guess, I’m right.” Hailey smirked, and leaned closer. “Hey, I don’t settle for a man as cheap as him. You’re paranoid.” She laughed.

Ashley was getting heated up, until she received a message. Her lips curved instantly.

“Well…” she snapped her fingers, with overwhelming confidence on her face.

But the expression instantly gloomed when nothing responded to the finger snap as she expected. She did it again, and Hailey is beginning to look at her bafflingly.

“Are you nuts?” Hailey commented.

Before she even got a response from her, Troye’s presence caught her attention. He leaned closer to her one ear—making Hailey fluster—to whisper. Hailey furrowed her brows at his words, and averted her gazes to the woman before her.

“You’re so… desperate, Ashley.”
