Chapter 4 What!
A dark brown wolf with glooming red eyes could be seen standing in the opposite direction of another dark wolf.
Sean, in his wolf form, could be seen staring intently at the other wolf.
The other wolf, which was dark brown in color, was growling continuously as a warning sign to Sean.
"Don't get involved!" The wolf howl out in frustration.
Sean could see how badly he was hurt; seeing his wound not healing fast, he could guess the wolf is not an alpha; he may likely be a beta or probably a weak alpha.
"Leave their queen alone, and I will not interfere," he replied back.
"Noo! "She has to pay for killing one of the members in my pack!" He roared in anger.
The other wolf's gaze was fixed on Sean, refusing to give up.
"Alright then, you leave me with no other choice." Sean barked and jumped to where the other wolf was.
He slammed him down with great speed, leaving the latter no room to defend himself.
He clawed hard at his fur and started pulling it fiercely, thereby causing the wolf to growl out in pain.
"Arrrh!" The wolf groaned in agony as blood started oozing out of his body.
"I will kill you!" Sean howled in anger as his claws pierced into the heart of the wolf.
He squeezed it tightly till the wolf's body dropped dead on the floor.
He spat out in irritation as he saw the blood stains in his claws.
"If only you had listened to me and backed out, I would have spared you," he murmured as he gazed at the dead body of the wolf.
He hated the fact that he had to get involved in other people's business, but he had no choice; he had to kill the wolf that was causing a commotion in the diamond pack.
Besides, they have an obligation to protect the Luna from the diamond pack at all costs. But why? He couldn't tell, as his father had made it mandatory, and he couldn't dare go against the rules of the Ex-alpha.
After waiting for his breath to become stable, he changed back into his human form and walked out of the forest, naked.
The next day...
Sonnet's POV
I was running towards a particular office due to the message I received this morning.
When I got closer to the office, I slowed down my steps before opening the door and then walked inside.
"Good morning, Director Chan."
"Good morning, manager Han," I said cheerfully.
"Good morning, Ms. Sonnet," the two men present there responded in unison.
They are both the heads of the Starboard Entertainment Agency, which is one of the leading agencies in the entertainment industry because of its unmatchable and talented stars.
"I guess you are here due to the invitation you received from us?" Director Chan inquired.
"Yes sir!" I confirmed it cheerfully.
"Hmm, but unfortunately the slot has been closed, so maybe you should apply next time when the application opens again."
"What!" I screamed out in dismay, my tears threatening to roll down from my eyelid.
I walked that day and night just to practice for the auction, and I was happy when I heard I was selected. Then, coming here, I heard I couldn't get in!.
"I really needed this job, sir!" I pleaded and burst out in tears.
I don't want to be married off by my father; this is the only thing I can do to avoid it, and yet it failed.
Sorry, Miss, please try back next year." The manager indicated sternly, and I found my body gently standing up from the seat. My legs felt like jellyfish as I exited the office.
Immediately, I exited the company of the agency. I dipped my hand into my purse and brought out my phone. I dailed the number of her best friend.
"Hello Becky!" I spoke through the phone in a depressed tone.
"Oh, bitch! What's up with you?" my friend responded cheerfully.
"I didn't get it, Becky!" I burst out in tears. I really can't take it anymore. I'm tired of hiding under the shade of bravado.
"Oops! Sorry, babe, please stop crying. Can you come over to my place of work and let's talk something out?" She spoke to me, and I nodded my head in response before I realized I was on a phone call with her, so she wouldn't be able to see me.
"Alright, I'm coming, right away." I informed her before hanging up the call, and then I wiped my face with my handkerchief before stopping a cab.
AN HOUR LATER...
Immediately we reach the famous club in the city, I climb out of the car after paying the cab driver, then proceed into the club.
I showed the receptionist my permit card before walking inside the main building. The loud sound of music and people's cheers grated on me, along with the pugent smell of alcohol.
I picked up a seat in one of the rows close to the dance floor. I tucked my phone out of my pocket, then messaged Becky that I was around.
I ordered a drink to keep myself busy while I waited for her to come.
Immediately after the waitress dropped the drink, I picked it up, poured it into a glass cup, and began to gulp it down my throat. Although I felt a sour burning feeling in my throat, I didn't care; instead of sipping it gently, I preferred to gulp it all. I badly want to forget my sorrows right now.
I flung my moist eyes to the dance floor when I saw some sex-hungry men dancing shamelessly with the girls.
A current stripping show was also going on on stage, making me yearn for a man of my own, but I knew they were out of my reach. I could never find love in this world. I burst out in tears, feeling so awful in my heart.
After a few minutes, her frizzy pink hair came into view, and I figured that was embedded in the club's uniform reflect itself.
She rushed to me, and I could see her surprised expression, but I don't mind; I already have enough on my plate.
"Goodness! Sonnet, you look like a mourning widow!" She mouthed it with a frown.
"Am I better than any of them? Everything in my life is going wrong!" I yelled in pain before pulling my hair.
"You have to calm down, girl; this phase will pass!" She tried to encourage me, but I didn't buy it.
"Becky! I need a job; my father wants to marry me off!" I said to her:
"Hmm, I understand what you are going through, friend."
"Ah! There is a current vacancy in this club; maybe you should come and apply." She beamed at me after spanking her head dramatically.
"Really!" I muttered as I felt a ray of hope. I'm in desperate need of a job since I couldn't get any role to play in order to earn money. I think working would be a better option.
"So what's the job?" I asked energetically but got no response; instead, I saw her scratching her head, hesitating to talk.
Why is she being hesitant all of a sudden?" "Becky, what's it!?" I grunted at her in annoyance, and immediately her mouth moved to say the word, and my body froze in shock!
