Chapter 3

So, Abella needed to stop thinking about the Wilson family. Once she moved into her new place, that would be her home.

"Mr. Wilson, please take these gifts! Mr. Wilson!"

Tom wanted to explain that the package contained deeds and keys to thirty villas and thirty shops, a bank card with three billion dollars, and some rare medicinal herbs no one could find on the market.

All of these were just small tokens from Mr. and Mrs. Medici.

But as he watched Jeff walk into the house, Tom didn't get the chance to say anything and started to wonder, 'Why does it seem like this family doesn't like Ms. Medici?'

Was he just imagining things?

Abella picked up the car door with her hands and easily put it back in place, "Let's go."

Seeing Abella get into the car, Tom was stunned. Did Abella just put that door back on? How did she do that?

On the way, Abella casually looked out the window, her face, a masterpiece of beauty, was a feast for the eyes.

Tom occasionally glanced at her through the rearview mirror, and the more he looked, the more he felt she resembled a young Mrs. Medici.

Every move she made exuded an air of elegance.

"Aren't we going to Tara Village?" Abella suddenly asked, her gaze falling on the driver.

"Tara Village?" Tom snapped back to reality, "That's where the Medici family's ancestors lived. Your home is now in Empire Vista City."

Empire Vista City was the most economically developed first-tier city in the country.

It had four districts: east, west, south, and north, with the north district being the least developed economically.

Economic City was the most underdeveloped area within the north district.

Jeff was the richest man in Economic City.

Although Jeff worked hard for half his life and finally moved to Empire Vista City at the beginning of this year, he only became the richest man in the most underdeveloped area of the north district, in the most underdeveloped Economic City, which was a small town on the edge of Empire Vista City.

So he was better off than some and worse off than others.

Jeff had exceeded one billion dollars, which was why Skylar looked down on others.

After Isla entered the house, she glanced out the window unintentionally and was stunned, "Mom,"

"What's wrong?" Skylar followed her gaze and said indifferently, "Isla, I've told you, from now on, you have nothing to do with Abella! Don't consider Abella your sister anymore, block all her contact information, and even if she borrow money from you, you must not lend it to her, understand?"

"No, Mom, I think that car had our city's license plate? It looked like a special number plate?" Isla shook her hand.

Such a license plate in Empire Vista City was a symbol of wealth!

Since the car was parked horizontally in front of their villa, Skylar only saw the side of the car and didn't see the license plate at the back. But hearing Isla say this, she still smiled, thinking Isla was too ignorant!

"Isla, in our city, having a license plate with five identical numbers means a top figure! Abella's home is in Tara Village, you must be mistaken!" Skylar said.

Even the Wilson family's license plate wan't a special number.

How could Abella's family have such a top-tier license plate?

"Unless her home is in Long Island Manor!" Skylar sneered.

Long Island Manor was the most famous, expensive, and best-located wealthy villa area in Empire Vista City, located in the center of Empire Vista City, the most precious place!

Inside the Rolls-Royce, Tom respectfully said, "Ms. Medici, it's still twenty miles to your home, Long Island Manor. If you're tired, you can take a nap."

Under Abella's long eyelashes, her eyes were as clear as morning dew. Her home was in Long Island Manor? The most expensive villa area in Empire Vista City?

"Can we go to NYU Medical Center?" she asked.

NYU Medical Center was the city's hospital, with the best medical resources, and it was not far from Long Island Manor.

"Ms. Medici, are you feeling unwell?" Tom asked nervously, "I'll speed up."

"Before I leave here, I want to visit my old grandma, Vilma Bourbon."

In the Wilson family, Vilma was the only one who truly cared for her.

Ever since they found out Abella wasn't their biological daughter, Vilma had fallen ill and ended up in the hospital.

Tom didn't expect Abella to be so respectful to the elderly, and his opinion of her improved even more as he agreed.

Ten minutes later.

The car pulled up at the entrance of NYU Medical Center, and Abella got out, her voice gentle, "Tom, find a place to wait for me."

"Okay."

In room 301 of the inpatient department at NYU Medical Center, an elderly woman with white hair lay in bed.

She was emaciated, her face thin and her body skeletal from the relentless pain of her illness.

When Abella pushed the door open and entered, the old woman was still unconscious, her eyes closed, and her face pale.

The wrinkles on her forehead added to her aged appearance.

Abella walked lightly to the bedside, a sourness spreading in her heart.

When did Vilma, once so vibrant, become like this?

"Abella." A young doctor doing rounds looked up at her, then lowered his head to write in the medical record, "You're just in time, let's talk."

He put away his pen and raised his head, his captivating eyes staring straight at her, "You know, none of the current heart medications are working for Vilma anymore. Increasing the dosage used to help for a few more days, but not anymore. You know better than anyone that end-stage heart failure means the heart has reached its limit and can't be reversed. The fact that she's lived this long is already a miracle."

Before the doctor could finish speaking.

Abella tossed a small bottle over, her gaze never leaving Vilma.

"Heart-saving pills?" Randy Smith looked at the bottle in his hand, unable to hide his shock, "Abella, where did you get this?"

Wasn't this the miracle drug that's been causing a storm on the black market recently?

It was said to have miraculous effects on heart treatment, with a single pill costing millions of dollars.

The high price was secondary. The real issue was that these heart-saving pills were incredibly rare, only one being auctioned off each month!

How did Abella get something so rare?

"The Wilson family has treated you like this, and I think you've done enough for them. It's really unnecessary." Before Randy could finish speaking, he received a warning look from Abella.

"Am I wrong? Even Vilma's own son Jeff isn't as attentive as you," he added.

Six months ago, Randy graduated from a top medical university in the country and came to NYU Medical Center for an internship.

Relying on his background in a medical family, Randy was arrogant when he first arrived.

It wasn't until he met Abella that he realized there were always more outstanding people.

Once, Randy was researching a tricky case, spending several sleepless nights on it, only for Abella to take one look and provide an excellent solution with a few light words.

Another time, Abella inadvertently saw a patient's chest X-ray and CT scan and immediately diagnosed lung cancer, whereas Randy had diagnosed severe pneumonia.

There were many such instances.

What made him admire her the most was Vilma, a person on the brink of death, had been given a death sentence by Randy, yet Abella, more than once, saved her back from the edge of death!

Abella, a terrifying high school student, brought Randy endless shock every time she appeared, shattering his arrogance and chastising his ignorance, forcing him to humble himself!

During these six months, Randy also knew how the Wilson family treated her. As they got to know each other, they became friends.

He knew that in Vilma's condition, the best option would be a heart transplant.

But Vilma's advanced age, high blood pressure, and total heart failure made surgery impossible. Abella was now giving her heart-saving pills, hoping to improve her body so she wouldn't be as fragile as paper and die before doing surgery.
