Chapter 7

Originally, some folks still had a bit of faith in Abella's medical skills, but the moment they saw her holding the knife, everyone got jittery.

"What's up with this girl? Such a major surgery, and she's using her left hand? Is she left-handed?" a male doctor wondered out loud.

"Left-handed people aren't as steady as right-handed folks," a female doctor chimed in.

"If she's right-handed but using her left hand on purpose, she must be nuts! She's not taking this surgery seriously at all," the male doctor added.

"Maybe she doesn't know how to perform surgery at all. Dr. Brown, how can you trust what a little girl says? This is really the end!" the female doctor fretted.

No one in their right mind would tackle such an important surgery with their left hand!

Randy was also taken aback seeing Abella wielding the knife with her left hand. He remembered her being right-handed.

Could her right hand be injured, making her use her left?

Ryan had undergone so many heart valve replacement surgeries that his heart structure was no longer like a normal person's.

With one swift cut, Abella opened the sternum, leaving everyone in shock.

"Not to mention a girl, even a seasoned doctor with decades of experience wouldn't dare make such a cut. This calm and composed demeanor, is it really from a girl? I'm doubting my eyes!" the male doctor exclaimed. "Her first cut was so precise, quick, and decisive."

Even Aurora was stunned, murmuring, "How is this possible?"

How did Abella pull it off?

She didn't look like a rookie at all.

When Abella opened the sternum, she saw that Ryan's heart was covered in scars, the blood vessels were all over the place, and it was hard to tell one from another. The heart, without the pericardium's protection, was almost touching the sternum.

Randy took one look and knew the situation was serious. He was initially worried that Abella wouldn't know what to do, but she was calm and composed, handling every detail perfectly.

"Magnify the details," Zachary said, shocked but eager to see her next move.

Abella was carefully separating the adhesions between the heart and the posterior wall of the sternum, the trickiest part of the surgery.

Given Ryan's current condition, even a seasoned doctor would take several hours to handle it. But for Abella, half an hour was enough.

She kept her head down, her enchanting eyes shining brightly, exuding an aura of confidence.

All the doctors held their breath because this process was critical. If she accidentally injured the heart tissue or any blood vessel, it would be disastrous!

Meanwhile, a grand procession appeared!

The man leading the group looked to be in his twenties but exuded a powerful aura.

With sharp eyebrows, a prominent nose, and exquisite features, he looked extraordinary and noble.

Everyone stepped aside upon seeing him, their voices filled with fear and reverence, "Mr. Bourbon, you're here?"

Behind him were some heart specialists, each a top figure in the field.

To gather these experts in such a short time, no one but Phillipe could do it!

"Mr. Ryan Bourbon's condition has taken a turn for the worse. After finally getting the pneumonia under control, he's now showing signs of heart failure," Zachary said, bowing respectfully. "During today's check-up, we found that Mr. Ryan Bourbon has prosthetic valve endocarditis and a paravalvular leak."

"Who's she?" Phillipe's cold, indifferent gaze landed on the chief surgeon in the operating room.

She was wearing a medical mask, only her bright eyes visible, but it was clear she was just a teenager.

"She, she is..." Zachary stammered, his heart racing. If he said it out loud, would he be in trouble?

Gabriel, Phillipe's assistant, couldn't hold back his anger. "The hospital can't possibly hire someone so young. On the way here, I heard a high school student wanted to operate on Mr. Ryan Bourbon. Is it her? Is NYU Medical Center so irresponsible now? Do they let anyone operate on Mr. Ryan Bourbon as long as they're bold enough? How dare you!"

"It's not like that," Zachary was so scared he went limp, unable to explain a single word.

The doctors in the observation room were even more terrified.

Aurora, though trembling with fear, mustered the courage to say, "It was Dr. Smith's idea. He said if anything went wrong, he would take responsibility."

"What will he take responsibility with? All of your lives?" Gabriel's words left Aurora too frightened to speak.

"Mr. Phillipe Bourbon, let our experts go in and save Mr. Ryan Bourbon first. I'll deal with the chief surgeon and the assistant inside. None of these people can leave," Gabriel said, his gaze sweeping coldly across the room.

They needed to understand the consequences of reckless behavior!

At this moment, the experts behind Phillipe were all astonished.

"She actually separated all the adhesions. She didn't injure a single blood vessel, and even the heart tissue is intact. And she did it with her left hand! How did she do it?" one expert said.

"Such a difficult adhesion separation, and she handled it so quickly," another expert added.

Although it was an extremely challenging surgery, in Abella's hands, it seemed easy. After handling the adhesions, she raised her beautiful eyes, her demeanor fresh and refined, leaving a deep impression at first glance.

"Dr. Brown, who is she?" One of the foreign heart specialists brought by Phillipe asked. "Is she a new doctor at the hospital? I wonder if I have the honor to speak with her later? We arrived late and didn't see how she opened the chest, but to separate the adhesions so well, her medical skills are definitely above mine."

"I also have a question I'd like to ask her," another expert chimed in.

Not only was Gabriel surprised, but everyone present was shocked. A girl had completely separated all the adhesions in the shortest time!

"It's amazing. Even experienced experts can't guarantee separating all the adhesions in such a short time. Could she look like a young girl but be an old medical sage inside?" a doctor voiced his incredible speculation.

Otherwise, how could Abella achieve this?
