Chapter 1: He's Bored of Playing

Brandon returned home, and as his secret lover, Annie was picked up at Holmby Hills immediately.

"Come here."

His voice was cold and emotionless, heavy and depressing, falling on Annie's heart.

He had a bland temperament and unpredictable moods. Annie was afraid of making him angry, so she didn't dare wait for a second and walked to him quickly.

Before she could even stand still, Brandon hugged her tightly in his arms. His slender fingers pinched her chin, and he lowered his head to kiss her red lips fiercely while prying open her teeth.

When she woke again, he had already left the bed, and the sound of water came from the bathroom. She followed the sound and saw a tall figure reflected on the frosted glass.

Annie was surprised because he would leave every time they were done without waiting for her to wake up. But this time, he didn't go.

She forced her exhausted body to sit on the bed and sat quietly, waiting for him like an obedient girl until a few minutes later; he came out of the bathroom wrapped in a towel.

Water droplets fell onto his honey-coloured skin from his wet hair tips before sliding down along his firm abdominal muscles that exuded deadly temptation through their taut lines. His exquisite face looked like it had been carved by knives with sharp edges that gave off an aloof air through its deep-set peach blossom eyes that were dark yet profound.

Although he looked very handsome all over, there was an icy chill emanating from him, which made people not dare to approach him easily.

Brandon saw that she had woken up, then cast a cold glance at her before saying:

"You don't have to come here anymore."

Annie froze for a moment, wondering what "you don't have to come anymore" meant.

Brandon took back his gaze at her, turned to fetch a document and handed it to her, "This contract is terminated in advance."

Upon seeing the agreement, Annie finally realized that Brandon wanted to end their relationship. It turned out that this time he didn't leave directly because he wanted to break up.

She had thought about this day after following him for five years, but she never expected it would come like this. There were no reasons or explanations, just a direct notice.

Suppressing the pain in her heart, Annie slowly raised her head and looked at Brandon, who was dressing.

"The contract only has half a year left. Can't we wait a little longer?"

The doctor said she still had three months left; she wanted to accompany him until the end of her life.

Brandon did not respond but looked at her with cold eyes as if kicking away an object that bored him without any reluctance or explanation.

His silence made Annie realize what was going on. She hadn't warmed his heart even after five years together; it was time to wake up.

She pretended to be relaxed and took the contract, smiling peacefully: "Don't be so serious. I'm joking."

Then she added: I already don't want to be with you anymore. Since the contract ended early, I couldn't be happier."

Brandon paused while rolling up his shirt sleeves before raising his chilly gaze towards Annie and asking softly:

"You haven’t been interested in me for a long time?"

Annie nodded nonchalantly, pretending not to care: "Yes, I'm not young anymore. It's time for me to get married and have children instead of being your secret lover forever.”

Although she had a terminal illness already, she didn't want to show any fragile emotions in front of Brandon.

Thinking of this, she asked again with a smile on her face: "Since the contract is terminated, can I have a boyfriend in the future?"

Brandon's emotions were unclear. After staring at her for a while, he picked up his Vacheron Constantin watch placed on the bedside table and left without looking back.

"Whatever."

This was what he said before leaving.

As she watched him leave, Annie's smile gradually faded away.

It seemed that Brandon really got tired of playing.
