5. Awkward
"Wow, you're a good cook. Your cooking is delicious." Leo praised Ana's cooking.
Ana smiled happily when she heard Leo's praise.
"Right Sam, this is the first time I've eaten food that tastes like this. It's different, it's delicious." Leo asked Sam.
"It's ordinary." Sam replied briefly with a flat look on his face.
Ana's face immediately turned sour. "This guy is such a cool guy!" she thought to herself.
"What time are you at the office today?" Leo asked Sam.
Leo was already dressed up, he was going to the office today. But Sam was just dressed normally.
"I'm not going to the office today," Sam replied briefly.
"What? Why aren't you going to the office? You're enjoying your paycheck blind!" Leo asked Sam sarcastically.
"I'm very tired. Today I have important business, outside of the office. You must understand that. Anyway, I'll do all my work tomorrow." Sam explained to Leo.
Leo snorted. Sam was always busy with his pack's business, to the point that sometimes he put the Office's business on the back burner. Even so, Sam was still responsible for his work.
"As you wish." Leo continued his breakfast.
Ana, who couldn't understand what Leo and Sam were talking about, could only listen while eating her breakfast.
"That's it, I'm done. I'll go first." Leo gulped down a glass of milk, then he immediately stood up and picked up his briefcase. Leo walked straight out.
"Ana, do all the homework well." Leo gave Ana a message.
Ana didn't answer, she just nodded in understanding.
After Leo's departure, the atmosphere became awkward. The atmosphere was so tense. There were only Sam and Ana at the dinner table at the moment.
Not a single sound was heard. Only the clinking of spoons broke the silence between them.
Sam had finished eating, he brought his plate to the sink to wash it.
Ana, who had also finished eating, picked up the dirty dishes on the dining table and followed Sam quickly.
"Hey!! No need! I'll do it." Ana pulled the glass still filled with water from Sam's hand when Sam wanted to wash it.
Sam frowned. Then without speaking, Sam immediately snatched the glass back from Ana.
"No, I told you, let me wash it!" Ana grabbed the glass again.
Sam didn't seem to like Ana, so he snatched the glass back from her. After all, Sam usually washed his own glass.
"No need! I'll wash it! It's my job!" Ana grabbed the glass again, and there was a fight between Ana and Sam.
Prang!!!
The glass broke and fell to the floor as Ana and Sam continued to tug.
Ana was shocked, her mouth gaping wide as she watched the glass shatter on the floor. The floor was full of broken glass and also muddy from the water spilled from the glass.
"I told you, I'm the one who washed it! Why are you so stubborn?! Look! It's because of you that the glass broke! The floor is dirty and wet from the water!" Ana scolded Sam. Sam didn't say anything, she just stared at everything.
"You're really giving me a hard time!!!" Ana wanted to go get a broom to clean up the broken glass. But after only two steps, she was already in trouble and slipped on the slippery floor.
Doom!!!
Ana fell to the floor, making a strong sound.
"Ouch..."
Ana winced in pain, as she looked at her bloodied fingers that had been stuck by several shards of glass.
"It hurts," Ana moaned.
Nothing had changed on Sam's face. His face was still the same, looking flat and expressionless. Not even his face showed any surprise or worry when he saw Ana fall.
"Damn. That hurts." Ana was still wincing in pain.
Ana averted her eyes when she saw the outstretched hand in front of her. It was Sam's hand. Sam extended his hand to help Ana up.
"Hurry up," Sam said matter-of-factly.
At first, Ana was silent and a little surprised. But since Sam told her to hurry up, Ana immediately grabbed Sam's hand.
Sam pulled Ana's hand, he helped her up.
Sam's handhold on Ana had not been released. After Ana stood up, Sam took her straight to his room. Sam's room.
Ana was still surprised that Sam was helping her, she was even more surprised when Sam took her to Sam's room.
"Sit down." Sam told Ana to sit on his bed.
Ana immediately complied, sitting on the edge of Sam's bed.
Sam opened his drawer, he took out a medicine box. Then he deftly grabbed Ana's injured hand.
Sam cleaned Ana's injured hand very slowly and carefully.
"Aah, it hurts." Ana winced in pain, her hand was very sore as Sam cleaned it.
Sam looked at Ana who was in pain. "Hold on for a while. You were so stubborn earlier, now use your stubbornness and think that you don't feel any pain at all." This was the first sentence that came out of Sam's mouth since they ate together earlier.
Ana was silent, she looked at Sam who was focused on treating her wound with amazement. Ana was not amazed because Sam was good at treating wounds. But Ana was amazed to hear the long sentence that came out of Sam's mouth. Since earlier Sam had only talked to Leo. To the point that Ana felt that Sam really hated her. But it turned out that Sam wasn't that bad.
"That's why humans shouldn't be stubborn. If I want to wash my own glass, why do you have to clean it so hard?" Sam asked Ana. Sam was still focused on Ana's wound.
Ana swallowed her saliva with difficulty. It was nothing, actually Ana was very happy if Sam washed her own plates and glasses, it eased her work. But since Sam seemed to hate her so much, Ana would try to look diligent and useful in front of Sam. So that Sam wouldn't hate her and kick her out of this apartment.
"How could Leo hire a sloppy human like this? Leo always hires useless people." Sam spoke lightly.
"What?! He said I'm useless! Damn it! You're a useless, heartless man!" Ana grumbled inwardly, she didn't dare to answer Sam. What's more, there was no Leo at the moment. Like Leo said yesterday, Ana didn't want to be roasted meat.
"Why do you keep mentioning humans? Are you not human?" asked Ana irritably. She escaped her annoyance at useless questions like this.
Sam was a little surprised. He immediately cleared his throat. "What's wrong? You're a human, that's why I call you a human. If I call you a demon, do you agree?" Sam asked Ana. Sam tried to look casual.
"I have a name. My name is Ana. I know I'm human, but I have a name, my name is Ana. So call me Ana." Ana told Sam to call her by name, not as 'human' anymore.
"It's up to me. I do the talking." Sam did not want to agree to Ana's request.
"Yasudah, you wolf!" Ana mocked Sam.
Sam stopped treating Ana's wound. Then he looked at Ana with a deep gaze.
Ana was a little scared to see Sam's face. "W-why? You just called me a human. So I can call you a wolf too. You're fierce, like a scary wolf." Ana was indeed afraid of Sam's gaze, but still her mouth could not be controlled when speaking.
Ana swallowed in fear. "Your history is over, you stupid Ana!" Ana said to herself.
After staring at Ana for a long time with his piercing eyes, Sam finally sighed. Then Sam continued to bandage the wound on Ana's finger.
Ana breathed a sigh of relief when Sam returned to treating the wound. "I'm glad I wasn't made into roast meat by Sam the fierce man." Ana was grateful in her heart.
After finishing treating Ana's wound, Sam went straight out of his room.
"Be careful of your wound. If you're not careful, your wound will get wider and take longer to heal." Sam gave Ana a message.
Ana got up, she walked out as well. "Thank you." Ana said sincerely.
Sam did not answer anything. Sam went straight to the balcony. Ana didn't know what Sam was doing on the balcony, but she certainly didn't want to interfere.
Ana continued to clean the broken glass and the floor carefully, she didn't want her wound to get wider.
Meanwhile, not long after, Sam returned to the kitchen and washed the dirty dishes.
Sam and Ana both worked to clean up the kitchen. There was no conversation between them, again only silence that occurred when the two of them met. Both of them were focused on their respective jobs. And the atmosphere became awkward again.
