Chapter 6

The journey

JASON

In as much as the conversation has nothing to do with me, I wanted to hear more of it. Don’t get me wrong, I’m not like this. I just felt a connection to what they were talking about. Reaching the ward of my grandma, her countenance changed, she started smiling, and she started remembering the stories of her youthful days. I felt pity for her. How are you doing? I asked, and her countenance changed back to being dull like it was when we came in initially. "I don’t need a caregiver," she said. "I can take care of myself," she added. I just told her that I would bring someone that is very good this time, and I would bring the person myself. After much persuasion, she agreed, but wasn’t smiling. I was still with her as my phone kept ringing nonstop.

Clarissa

There was something special about the human I bumped into. I didn’t look at him that much, but I could tell he is handsome and has this self-confidence. Well,  he is just a human and I’m a werewolf, so nothing could possibly happen between us. At this point, what matters most is where I can rest my head and sleep. Walking down the road, everything that had happened at the pack kept replaying in my head. Who would have thought that Clyde would do this to me? Did he truly love me? Did I make the right choice by keeping this baby? What would become of me now that I’m in human land? I sat at a spot along the roadside as I kept asking myself different questions; it was already getting late, and after a while I slept off.

Noelle

I know that Clarissa can’t betray the pack, but the evidence was overwhelming. I suspect that this must be a conspiracy, but by whom and what does the person want? I would do everything possible to find out what actually happened. I have been friends with Clarissa since I was young, so I know she couldn’t possibly try to betray our pack unless something had happened, but what could have possibly happened? Throughout the night, I kept thinking about Clarissa and what would be her fate—would she join another pack? Is she in human land? Or did other supernaturals get her? Witches and vampires have been the greatest enemies of werewolves, and unlike humans, they are also supernatural, and the feud has left no trace; it has been before the recording of history. I can't help but think that if my best friend is saved, I came up with a plan.

Noelle

The next day I decided to go to the alpha and speak to him. This is a risk, but anything for my best friend. After getting ready, I went to his house and knocked. I became very sensitive to every little sound. I knew this was a dangerous mission. I actually came to see a man who can kill me without any question. Someone came to the door from inside and tried to open it. I was so scared I could literally feel my sweat dripping down. When the weather was cold, I faced down till I heard a voice. "What are you doing here?" the voice said, I raised my head and it was Gray, I told him that I came to see the Alpha, he told me that if it was because of my best friend I should go back when Istill have the chance, that this might end up being a suicide mission, I summoned up the courage and told him, that I came to see the Alpha and I’m not leaving till I see him, his claws springs out and his eyes pupil turns gold and the other part of his eyes darkened, this is normal, when a werewolf wants to fight ourbody physic changes, I was thinking if I’m to run or stand my ground, he has more strength than me, so I don’t stand a chance to win, but I decided to stand my ground because courage even in the face of death is one thing that is common in the werewolf race, and I’m not going to act like a coward, but deep down in me I was scared to the bone, Gray asked me for the last time to leave, but I refuse then he charged toward me, I changed my body physic as well and was ready to fight, then I heard "stop", looking up I saw the Alpha, and was so happy and grateful to the moon for the right timing, but I still kept a straight face, so they don’t realise how scared I was, "what is going on" Clyde asked, I wanted to tell him what had happen but Gray cut me off, "this girl came to convince you to bring her bestie back, I told her to go and come back when you are okay to entertain such discussion but she refused, and I know you don’t want to hear that now" Gray said, I wanted to counterhim and tell Clyde what had happen, but he won’t believe me since what really brought me here was the issues of my bestie, Clyde asked me to come in and Gray’s countenance changed.

Gray

(Don’t think I’m a bad person yet until you hear my side of the story.)

I’m Gray the son of Eda, Terry’s Beta, my father have prepared me to me Clyde’s Beta, so as to continue his legacy, we were all surprise when Alpha terry presented Clarissa as Clyde’s delta and my father saw me as a wasted effort of his, I tried to connect more to Clyde but Clarissa was always there, a daughter of a nobody trying to take a position that is supposed to be mine, if I don’t do anything on time Clyde will declare Clarissa as his Beta, which will not only be a slap to me but also to our entire Pack, I won’t fail to acknowledge the fact that the strength of Clarissa and her brain matches that of a Beta but she is female and I also need to carry on my father’slegacy, my father have died in a fight with another pack, and Clyde’s father decided not to appoint another beta for himself, years later he joined theancestors, after Clyde’s father died, I started looking for a loop hole that I could use to put Clarissa in her place, I have occasionally monitored her activities, but saw nothing, till she stop the map for the humans and kept it in her chambers, then I saw an opportunity that I have long waited for, I had to tell Clyde about it, and then she was cast out, you could imagine how I felt when Noelle showed up here, but after my warning the stupid girl didn’t leave, I wanted to fight her off, but Clyde showed up at the wrong time, Clyde have asked her to sit down and she did, I kept thinking of a possible way to make her leave but I couldn’t think of anything that wouldn’t raise suspicions.

Noelle

After I sited down in Clyde’s chamber, he asked me what I wanted to say, but the more I tried to talk, the more scared I became, well I first asked him if he didn’t think that he had made a wrong choice by sending Clarissa away without hearing from her, he said that all the evidence needed was there, and Clarissa had nothing to say, I asked him if have had any reason to doubt Clarissa’s loyalty in time past, but he said no, then I asked him, what if that was a mix up or maybe someone tried to frame her up, Grey tried to shut me up but Clyde asked him to keep quiet, and told me to go that our meeting was over, I had no other option than to go before my head is separated from my neck, but going home, I couldn’t help but wonder if grey has anything to do with that, because of his reactions today, I just wish Clarissa was here.
